Chapter 125 Two Conditions
Liu Ergou's words were dripping with mockery.
The old woman's brow furrowed at his tone. The bodyguards at the door could barely restrain themselves, ready to lunge forward and throw him out of the room.
Just as a bodyguard reached out to grab him, Liu Ergou slipped away like an eel, easily dodging the man's grasp and stepping aside.
Seeing this, the other bodyguards' brows tightened. It was clear this man had real skills. He must be a martial arts practitioner, otherwise, he couldn't have dodged that so easily.
At this realization, the bodyguards split up. Two moved to block the front of the old woman's bed, while the other two squared up to attack Liu Ergou.
Just as they were about to move, Liu Ergou said calmly, "I advise you not to do anything rash. This is a hospital, and I haven't touched you. If you attack me, I'm calling the police."
"That old woman may have some status, but don't forget the saying: even a mighty dragon can't crush a local snake."
Sure enough, Liu Ergou's words made the bodyguards pause, their brows furrowed. They didn't dare to make another move against him.
Meanwhile, lying in her bed, the old woman was truly looking at Liu Ergou for the first time. At that same moment, his gaze met hers.
After sizing her up again, Liu Ergou spoke.
"Besides the chronic illnesses common in the elderly, you have one other major disease. I was right!"
"Old woman, you've had this tumor for many years, haven't you?"
"Because the tumor is growing on a major artery, it's inoperable. Any surgery would just rupture the artery, which is why you've been relying on medication to control it."
"Now that you're older, the medication is failing. Am I wrong?"
These words filled the old woman's eyes with shock as she stared at Liu Ergou.
Everything he said was correct.
There wasn't a single error.
The old woman finally realized that this ox of a man was no ordinary person.
Thinking this, she immediately spoke to the bodyguards, "Alright, that's enough! All of you, get out!"
"You're not needed here anymore!"
The bodyguards didn't hesitate for a second. They filed out of the room and resumed their posts outside.
The old woman's gaze, now fixed on Liu Ergou, was filled with burning eagerness.
"This... Divine Doctor, how should I address you?"
"Just call me Liu Ergou," he responded.
Hearing this, the old woman said at once, "Divine Doctor Ergou, I was in the wrong earlier. I didn't know you were acquainted with this young nurse."
"If I had known, I never would have behaved that way!"
"Look, since you can diagnose my condition, does that mean you can also treat it?"
"Of course!" Liu Ergou answered without hesitation. "Your illness might be an enormous problem for others, but to me, it's a piece of cake!"
"It's just a matter of whether I feel like treating it or not."
The moment he spoke, a flicker of doubt crossed the old woman's eyes.
But then she reconsidered. It was indisputable that Liu Ergou had accurately described her condition. His words, however, sounded like pure bluster. After all, if international experts couldn't solve her problem, what made him think he could?
Just because he's built like an ox? There are plenty of men stronger than him.
The old woman was lost in thought.
Seeing her silence, Liu Ergou didn't rush her, simply saying with a grin, "I know what you're thinking."
"It's normal. I understand completely."
"However, I should warn you. In your current condition, your body can only hold out for another month at most."
"After one month, the tumor will compress your aorta until it bursts. When that happens, unless an immortal descends from the heavens, you're beyond saving!"
Liu Ergou delivered these words with casual indifference, but they sent a chill down the old woman's spine, causing her to break out in a cold sweat.
As the old saying goes, the older one gets, the more one fears death, and this was especially true for someone of her age. The more she thought about it, the more sweat beaded on her forehead.
Finally, after a ten-minute internal struggle, the old woman sighed.
"Ah, Divine Doctor, I'm sorry. I was terribly wrong before. I was blind not to recognize your skill and I never should have doubted you!"
"Can you please treat me now? I haven't lived long enough! I don't want to die!"
A faint smile touched Liu Ergou's lips as he heard her words. Then, he said something that made everyone's jaw drop.
"Treat you? Sure!"
"First, apologize for your previous attitude. Second, beg me."
He stated this decisively, and the expressions of those nearby changed drastically.
The bodyguards on duty at the door scowled upon hearing him, looking ready to attack. However, a single glare from the old woman stopped them in their tracks.
After a moment of silence, the old woman turned her head and said to Qian Xiaoling with great solemnity, "I'm sorry, young nurse. I shouldn't have given you such a hard time. Please, forgive this old woman!"
Qian Xiaoling was so taken aback by the apology that she was flustered, unsure how to respond.
The old woman paid Qian Xiaoling no mind, turning her head back toward Liu Ergou.
"Divine Doctor, I beg you to save me!"
"I haven't lived long enough! I'm begging you!"
Only upon hearing her pleas did a satisfied smile finally spread across Liu Ergou's face.
She gave Qian Xiaoling a hard time, so I had to teach her a lesson.
With that thought, he turned to Qian Xiaoling. "Go get the needles you use for injections. Ordinary silver acupuncture needles won't cut it. We need to take drastic measures!"
Without hesitating, Qian Xiaoling ran out of the room.
Hearing this, the old woman's face went pale.
Injection needles?! For acupuncture?! Isn't that enough to take half my life?!
The old woman desperately wanted to say something, but seeing Liu Ergou's expression, she swallowed her words. He's the only one who can save me now. If I offend him, I'll truly be beyond help. A bitter feeling welled up inside her, but she couldn't say a word.
A moment later, Qian Xiaoling returned to the room with a handful of hypodermic needles and handed them to Liu Ergou.
He took the needles and nodded in satisfaction after a brief look. He then took the old woman's pulse again before gesturing for her to lie face down on the bed so he could begin the treatment.
The earlier commotion had already attracted a crowd of onlookers to the doorway. They stood on their tiptoes, craning their necks to see inside, afraid they might miss something.
