Chapter 469: Qingqing Reacts to Driving
Jiang Nian stared at the reward column, and his eyelid couldn't help but twitch.
A skill! A golden skill?
Seeing the cooldown almost made him drown in sweetness, a thirty-day cooldown,
[Letter Paper].
He didn't know what kind of abstract skill it was. The [Good News] he got last time was still wrapped up and kept at home.
Another day he'll release it into the market to support Zhenan's economic development.
The last two periods in the afternoon were physics classes.
Zeng You was too lazy to listen, so he secretly took out his phone. After reading a novel for a while, he unknowingly got sucked in, and when he snapped back to reality, he was suddenly startled.
He pretended to shake his leg and nodded slightly. Using his peripheral vision, he tried to catch the physics teacher's gaze while calmly slipping the phone under the desk.
He scratched his head, pretending to be deep in thought. When the physics teacher got close, he slowly turned a page until the teacher walked away.
Whew, a false alarm.
Scared himself...
"Tsk."
"Tsk tsk."
Two sounds came from the back row, startling Zeng You. When he turned his head, he saw Jiang Nian and Li Hua smiling at him.
Their smiles were full of unspoken meaning, like cunning little devils.
Jiang Nian said, "What a move, monkey stealing peaches!"
Li Hua even licked his lips, "Zeng You, you wouldn't want your secret of playing on your phone to get caught by the physics teacher, right?"
Zeng You: "...."
There were so many things he wanted to say, yet he felt a helplessness, like a giant lizard encountering Arsan.
After school.
Jiang Nian gave Zhang Ningzhi a small gift again, a Christmas toy he managed to get from Qianbao during the break.
"Here, it's for you."
"Oh? How did you get this?" Zhang Ningzhi was pleasantly surprised.
Jiang Nian originally wanted to boast and say he had worked hard to climb out to buy it.
"I..."
"Hey, there's a stamp here." Zhang Ningzhi pulled at the tag and read aloud, "Zhenan Middle School Teacher....."
"Ahem, I got it from a teacher." Jiang Nian almost wrenched his back, cursing the school logistics for overdoing it with the details.
"Oh, thank you." Zhang Ningzhi remained cheerful, the emotional value Jiang Nian gave far exceeded her expectations.
"No problem." Jiang Nian prepared to go find Xu Qianqian.
Evening was the most dangerous time; if someone were to gift him an apple, whether he accepted it or not, the outcome wouldn't be great.
One or two people would be fine, three or four could still be considered friends, five or six could barely be close friends, but when it came to seven or eight...
If Xiao Han came, well, he could only wait for the end.
Damn it, why hasn't that crazy woman been dragged by her parents to tutoring classes yet?
Can she really study well at school!
"I also have a gift for you, I'll give it to you during evening self-study." Zhang Ningzhi said cutely and left to find Yao Daban.
Jiang Nian was in a pretty good mood. The exchange between him and Zhizhi was delightful. There weren't deep feelings involved, just sheer happiness.
Relationships could be talked about, but love is out of the question.
After all, there's the college entrance exam.
As he was about to leave his seat, someone suddenly tugged at his clothes.
He turned his head and found Li Qingrong staring at him.
"Where are you going?"
"Uh, I'm going to get you a gift." Jiang Nian lied effortlessly; today was too special, the lie detector was working overtime.
Was the machine broken?
He didn't know, it had been that way since he bought it.
Half out of a survival instinct, the other half to create a surprise. First, tell a lie to lower the expectation, then hit hard with the truth.
Let's just say today was too special, the few days in high school when you could closely follow gossip, Christmas Eve being one of them.
It just so happened that Jiang Nian liked to keep a low profile.
Li Qingrong glanced at him, showing no expression.
"No need for gifts."
Others might just be polite, but if the class representative says so, she probably means it; she might genuinely not be expecting a gift.
However, that's a separate matter.
After school, the classroom was nearly empty.
"It's not really unnecessary," he pulled out a small box from his pocket and handed it to Li Qingrong, "the hairbands I promised you."
Li Qingrong paused, opened the box, and saw the hairbands lying quietly inside.
"...Thank you."
"No need to thank me, it's between us." Jiang Nian rummaged around and pulled out a limited edition 200-dollar wooden ballpoint pen from his pocket.
"Actually, this is the real gift."
Li Qingrong tilted her head slightly, showing confusion.
"?"
Jiang Nian's complicated actions seemed too much for Li Qingrong to process, as she stared at him for quite a while.
She then lowered her gaze, looking at the beautifully packaged pen.
She nodded and accepted it.
"Okay."
Li Qingrong opened the pen and said to him,
"If you need to use it..."
"Oh sure." Jiang Nian agreed readily.
That was what he had in mind too; working together eases the load. Sharing good things had more meaning than just giving them away.
Also, it gave them an excuse to interact more. When there's nothing to do, just change pens, and turn to the class representative for a pen.
Like with Bluetooth earphones, listening to music together was convenient too.
Although the class representative at the back row might easily notice, it's still better than nothing. The class representative can't be at her seat all the time.
"I'm going to have lunch first?" Jiang Nian indicated he was leaving, but after taking a step, he asked, "Want to go to lunch together?"
Li Qingrong slowly got up, which was, in a way, her response.
"Okay."
The two left their seats, leaving the classroom under the stunned gaze of Nie Qiqi.
"The provincial exams are nearing, I heard it's right after New Year's." Jiang Nian deliberately mentioned, "I'm almost ready."
Upon hearing this, Li Qingrong showed a rather indifferent reaction.
"Mm."
"Hmm?" Jiang Nian felt a little frustrated, not believing she was truly unfazed, "Qingqing, I can score over ninety in chemistry."
"Then congratulations." Li Qingrong still carried that indifferent demeanor as if nothing could stir her.
"Thanks." Jiang Nian thought for a moment, then pointed at her, "Qingqing, if I score over 650, you're done for."
"Mm." Li Qingrong glanced at him, "Take the test first."
