Divine System: Land of the Abominations

Chapter 240: New Ability.

Nero stood for a long time.

Then he fell to his knees beside the corpse of the Abomination, clasping his hands together.

The Ein Sof gathered and pulled together, before swimming into his body in thick strands.

Nero grunted from the sheer density and amount of energy pouring into his body.

It was incredible.

Due to the sheer number of Abominations he had killed in the keep, the air was saturated with an excessive amount of energy, ready to be absorbed into his own body.

Once the dams were broken, it was quite difficult to control it.

Neto's back cracked and curved into a crescent as the overwhelming energy flooded him, providing a terrifying mix of pain and pleasure.

This continued for a long time.

Then he collapsed to the ground.

Breathing heavily, Nero slowly sat up.

"I'm full." He muttered softly.

It had been a long time since he had felt so replenished. He was completely filled with energy.

Not only that...

He clenched his fists.

His eyes widened.

The power they contained. He could feel it. It was outstanding.

There were still a few surprises in store for him;

Nero's eyes widened even more.

"A new skill?"

For some reason, he thought of the young, deformed boy.

This was a parting gift to him for granting him what his heart desired the most.

Nero's lips creased into a smile,

"Thank you."

Then a look of excitement flashed through his eyes as he took a glance at the number of Seals of Sin he possessed.

"I'm almost there."

In a single day, he had earned over a hundred Seals of Sin. Most of the Mourning Hollows were weaker grade E Abominations. However, the sheer numbers he had ripped through was more than enough.

He huffed deeply. The more Seals he got, the faster his monstrous corruption, but also the greater his strength.

He was already above halfway there. Just a little more to go.

Nero clenched his fists.

Then he glanced at the runes that represented the skill, Brybernos.

They were the runes that meant "Might", "Increase", and an indicator he believed was directed at his body.

To be sure, he decided to put it to the test.

With a thought, he harnessed the power of the heavens and the earth, channeling it through the runes of the skill.

A subtle purple glow appeared in his eyes.

The floor beneath his feet cracked as he leapt up, turning into a blur as the lower layers of the keep vanished faster than his mind could make out.

His eyes widened as he smashed through a stone ceiling.

The dim sunlight filled his eyes, causing him to wince. At the moment, his ascension was slowing. He would start falling soon.

His reflexes were quick as he quickly grasped onto a broken beam, preventing himself from falling back into the chasm.

He twisted to dissipate the force before jumping down and landing on his feet.

He stood there crouched for a moment before straightening up.

"That was... Incredible!"

Indeed it was.

His excitement was quickly quenched.

"What the hell?! That much?!"

Just a single activation of the skull had consumed twenty-five percent of his total energy reserves. A full ache also ran through his feet.

Nero quickly identified that the skill was one he would have to be economic with. One that couldn't be used recklessly.

Still, he was excited. His face paled,

'I wonder what would happen if I use it in the Yang form?'

A punch powered by Brybernos in the Yang form would probably be enough to tear a hole right through a Blizter Armor.

He huffed deeply and swallowed his excitement.

He didn't have a lot of time now.

It was well into the day and he only had until to sunset to get back to Liedenstorm.

Suddenly, he went still. Then he frowned and glanced down the chasm right beside him.

"Damn it."

***

The evening was fast approaching.

The gates of Liedenstorm had been closed for a long time due to a certain incident a few weeks ago. However, it had been opened once again, although there was now rather strict security.

For the most part, those who entered through the gates were merchants and their entourage coming from the other cities, Hunters, and of course those that sought out asylum.

Standing at the grand darksteel gates, Lyon stared at a small watch. The watch was made of a platinum colored metal, with a golden chain attached to it.

Although Lyon was dressed in normal garbs, he was given a wide berth by those entering and departing from the City.

And that was because of the presence of the two hulking behemoths of crimson steel behind him.

The very presence of the Templars was more than enough of a deterrent.

Lyon's expression was impatient as he mumbled a curse,

"Did the little brat do something?"

For some reason, the "eye" he had kept on the brat had vanished the moment he stepped into the location. He had no idea what the brat's fate was.

His expression was dark, which made the two Templars behind him unconsciously take a step back.

The time was almost up.

Just then...
