Divine Luck: SSS-Rank Battle Maid Harem

Chapter 620: Obvious Choice

Yubo huffed and crossed his arms. Mort, Vera, and Laro looked at the visitors from the foreign continent.

Zach was immediately stricken from the list of possibilities. Setting aside the solid muscles, visible through his clothes, that outed him as a martial artist, he looked dangerous. Their senses were on high alert just from looking at him. He was powerful.

Next to him were five maids. One was gentle with blonde hair and round, kind eyes. But looking at her for too long made their eyes sting.

A white-haired one who was half a height taller than Zach. If she had been slouched over as most tall people were, she might have been a possible target. But she stood with a straight back and met their gazes with eagerness. She wanted to prove herself.

Maybe not her.

Then, a dark-haired maid, slightly shorter than the others. No. Just no.

Something deep in the believers told them not to even think of challenging her.

A blue-haired maid who had the air around her shimmering. Also dangerous.

A maid with bronze-colored hair and uncanny eyes. Her body was still as a statue, and her gaze was on everything around them, curiously taking in the scenery of the new continent.

She didn't seem that dangerous. A possible target.

After the maids was a summoner with a slightly nerdy look. But he was still tall and well-built.

Was the food on Gjula special, or something that everyone who came from the place was beautiful or handsome? He had a floating stone egg almost as big as him, just behind him. There was a shiny metallic cube on that egg. He was also carrying a chest on his back.

Mort raised his hand.

"Yes?" Zach asked.

"Are you guys summoners?" He asked with a frown.

"Yes. Is that a problem?" Zach's eyes narrowed.

"No. It's just…Are you going to insist on that whole thing about familiars being part of a summoner's strength?"

'Are you going to insist that your gods' strength is your own?' Zach wanted to retort. But he held himself back.

"For your sake, we won't." Zach smiled.

That made things a lot easier. Mort smiled.

Vera's and Laro's eyes narrowed. It was a little suspicious how easily he had agreed to that. Was he overconfident or just confident?

The tall, short-haired, nerdy-looking summoner was well-trained. A possible but unlikely target.

The dark-haired summoner with fiery eyes oozed heat. Vera could feel it. The only one who could match him was her. An unlikely target.

A knight fully clad in armor with a good sword at his hip. Why risk it?

A tall, white-haired man with a mysterious air around him…Their instincts told them to avoid him.

The woman surrounded by the Order of Vatar was also a foreigner, but the Order of Vatar wouldn't be giving her that kind of attention for no reason. There also wasn't a reason to upset the Order of Vatar for no reason and give them a justification to interfere with the duel or the results.

That left…

A short woman with thick brown hair, lively eyes, freckles, a kind face, and one arm.

In reality, it was obvious. Without the massive Millipede she was riding on, she wasn't a threat. The two familiars clinging to her shoulders, the Bat and the Butterfly, didn't exactly seem threatening either. She would probably lose, even if she fought with those two by her side.

Maybe she was just there to provide a ride.

It wasn't impossible. The tunnel was probably ridiculously long.

Mort pointed at Nessa.

"I choose her," He said before Vera or Laro could warn him that it was too obvious. Everyone else looked like they could be dangerous or put up a fight in some way, except her. 'Clearly' she was the weakest.

But it was too obvious.

Seeing the smiles on Zach's and the others' faces, it was clear that they had fallen for the trap.

"Excellent. Oh, no take-backs. Nessa, don't go too hard on him."

"I won't make any promises," Nessa grinned as she jumped down from the Millipede and walked forward.

Mort's eyes narrowed as he finally caught on. But it was too late.

It would be disgraceful if he backed out of a fight against a little girl. That would be even more disgraceful than losing against a strong opponent.

Mort grabbed his pickaxe.

"No use in wasting time, eh, lass?" He asked, stepping up to meet Nessa.

"That's right, old man." Nessa smiled confidently and raised her fist.

Mort narrowed his eyes. Bare-handed? Against a pickaxe? She was hiding a trick.

She was, but not for long.

A moment later, black armor covered her body from top to toe, turning her into a chitin mummy. The only protrusions other than her limbs were the antennae on her head.

Mort almost took a step back from shock. It was an ability that didn't align with the powers of the Orders on Kuros. It was an ungodly power. His expression sharpened as he gripped his pickaxe with both hands.

Nessa might be stronger than they had expected, but Mort was a bad match-up for her. A pickaxe could pierce solid mountain. Armor didn't stand a chance, even if it was one as strange as the one covering Nessa.

Mort didn't let his guard down and let the divine energy in his body flood his limbs and pickaxe. He was going to mine this scary lass.

Nessa grinned beneath the chitin armor on her face. This was just one of her tricks. Still, she was excited to see how far it could take her against a representative of Kuros.

In a white church on a street of Spiros, the capital of the Kiantier Empire, Bartuk suddenly turned to one of his subordinates and asked,

"Is everyone on this continent a heathen?"

Their church was so empty that he welcomed even the specks of dust that hung in the beams of sunlight.

No one came to visit their church after listening to the ones preaching outside. And no one had cared when he held a demonstration of the Goddess' miracles the other day.

A building had also collapsed a couple of days after they arrived. The construction had cut off their church from the rest of the capital, drastically reducing how easily they could reach the people of the capital.

And when they approached people on their own, they just got weird looks.

No one was interested in listening to the teachings of their goddess.
