Chapter 180: Chapter 179: The War of Wakanda (1) (Bonus Chapter 11)

A week later, a military truck slowly pulled into a secret military base in Lincoln County, southern Nevada.

This base was part of the U.S. Nuclear Test Administration Area, designated for conducting some highly classified experiments.

In the future, this base would be known by another name—the infamous Area 51.

But to Josh, now the head of the CIA, this mysterious Area 51 held no secrets at all. In fact, even before he founded the CIA, he had been here several times.

This was because Boeing had received information about some of the U.S. military's secret projects before the first space launch, and some of those projects were housed here.

At that time, there were still some restrictions on Josh in this facility.

But after he became director of the CIA, even those restrictions disappeared.

For example, Josh was now standing in a lab building on the base watching the military truck enter the compound.

When the truck stopped in front of the lab building, ten CIA volunteers, led by Carter, got out—they were participants of the Second Generation Rebirth Project.

As for the 290 black soldiers recruited by the military for experimentation, their trials had long since ended. Only a little more than 50 of them were still alive.

Of the surviving 50, more than half were in very poor condition.

Only about 20 of them were relatively stable, including a forgotten future super soldier, Isaiah Bradley.

Still, those 20 were only temporarily stable. Josh clearly remembered that in the end, only Isaiah survived out of that group.

The casualty rate was truly shocking.

'Let's hope you really become Captain Carter', Josh thought to himself as he watched Carter get off the truck and silently prayed for her luck.

Soon, the ten volunteers were escorted into the lab by the base's experiment personnel.

"There's still time to stop this. The success rate of the experiment is much lower than I thought, less than 10%," Josh whispered to Carter, who was now wearing only a military tank top and shorts.

"I've come this far; I'm not backing out now. Besides, I've always been lucky. Ten percent is better than I expected," Carter replied with a relaxed smile.

Seeing her determination, Josh nodded and said no more, turning to enter the nearby observation room.

The experiment began shortly thereafter. As the serum was injected and the Vita rays were activated, loud screams of pain could be heard from the other nine chambers. Carter's chamber, however, was eerily silent.

Some even suspected that she had either fainted or died.

"Sir?" one of the experimenters asked Josh.

"Continue!" Josh replied expressionlessly.

What a joke—Carter, dying without making a sound? Ridiculous.

As expected, when the experiment ended and the ten chambers opened, Peggy Carter was the first to step out, brimming with confidence. Her physique had grown taller and more muscular, and... well, her already impressive assets were now even more defined.

If Captain America was America's ass, then Carter might as well be Britain's boobs. (TL/N: OHHHHHHH)

Everyone in the room was stunned by her transformation.

At that moment, they all realized how right Josh's decision to give Carter an experimental slot had been.

Not one of the over 200 Army test subjects had come out as well as Peggy Carter.

Just by looking at her, it was clear that her condition was exceptional.

"Directorate Kahn... what do you think abou-?" An army officer observing the experiment tried to be friendly with Josh.

"Don't even think about it. She's CIA," Josh said firmly, knowing what the officer was getting at.

"Sir, of the ten volunteers, five are dead, one requires emergency treatment, and the remaining four are in relatively stable condition. Of those, Ms.Carter is in the best shape. This is the first time I've seen anyone in such good shape after the experiment," a researcher reported to Josh.

"Well, it seems my luck isn't bad—40% success rate!" Josh commented, somewhat surprised. He had thought that as long as Carter survived, it would be a win, but unexpectedly he got three extra super soldiers as bonus.

Although the three super-soldiers were technically from the Council, they were now officially under the jurisdiction of the CIA. And since Josh himself was a high-ranking member of the Council, he had the final authority to command them.

Oh, and he could also ask the Council for an additional $3 million budget—perfect.

Many Army officer exclaimed upon hearing the experiment results. The 40% success rate was four times higher than their previous data.

But Some officer immediately blamed the difference on race.

Josh just smiled without answering, ignoring the idiots as he walked over to Peggy Carter, who had changed back into her clothes.

"Forty percent success rate—I think you may have brought me some good luck," Josh said with a smile.

"Is that so? Then maybe I should apply for a bonus," Carter joked lightly.

"Luck isn't something you can buy with money. How about I get you a new outfit instead? Look at them, they can't take their eyes off you!" Josh teased, gesturing to the men around them.

Hearing this, the male staff, who had been stealing glances at Carter's enhanced physique, instinctively turned away, though they silently cursed Josh for being a killjoy.

"Well, it looks like I do need one," Carter said with a laugh. Her current military uniform, which had fit before, was now completely undersized—especially the top, which she could barely pull over her shoulders.

"Come with me," Josh said, leading the way out of the lab.

Carter followed curiously.

Soon they arrived at another lab filled with huge amount of advanced individual equipment.

The setup reminded Carter of Howard Stark's lab in the Strategic Scientific Reserve.

"This is just the equipment lab for the CIA's technology division. I've already had them prepare something for you—I think you'll like it," Josh explained as they walked.

They reached a small display room. When Josh opened it, a transparent display case came into view.

Inside the case was a uniform and shield similar to Captain America's, along with a sword and a strange backpack-like device.
