Chapter 112: Chapter 112: The Right Person (2)
"Josh, what are you thinking?" In the bedroom, while Josh was still thinking about poaching someone, Margaret returned to the room after tucking in the two children next door and handing them over to the night maid.
"I was thinking about poaching someone for management to help me run the bank in the future!" Josh replied without hesitation.
"Oh? Who are you going to poach?" Margaret was a bit surprised to hear Josh's answer.
"Someone you know, our old neighbor!" Josh replied.
"You mean Mr. Angelo?" Margaret was stunned for a moment, but quickly recovered.
Josh nodded.
Yes, what Josh meant was Tommy-Thomas Tommy Angelo, the neighbor in the old house when he and Margaret lived together.
Though it was a bit awkward, when Josh started the Blackwater Gang, he asked Dix to check out his neighbor. After all, it was this person who had originally alerted him that Margaret was being followed, and this was the only person in the world who could possibly know that the disappearance of the stalker, Joe Barbaro, was his doing.
But it was a shock to learn the truth.
This old neighbor of Josh's is actually no ordinary character, but a boss of the Chicago Mafia during the Great Depression of the 1930s (A/N: In the Mafia game, Tommy is the only protagonist who becomes a high-ranking member of the Mafia, with his own territory, underlings, and businesses, while Vito and the other protagonists in the sequels were always just hit men).
Although Tommy later betrayed his Mafia family, the actual situation was that his boss, Salieri, had been ruthless. First he got rid of Tommy's best friend after using him, and then he tried to get rid of Tommy as well.
Tommy went to prison for a few years, and when he got out, he started his own business.
When Josh met Tommy, he was already the vice president of the largest taxi company in Chicago and Illinois, responsible for the operation of more than 10,000 cabs.
Being a vice president of a taxi company doesn't sound like it has much to do with the banking industry.
But in fact, in the pre-computer era, running a taxi company with tens of thousands of cabs was far more difficult than running a bank.
Especially in the United States before the 1970s, banks were not allowed to operate across state lines, so banking in that era was far less diverse and complex than later banks.
Basically, a bank's main area of operation was just a few major cities in the state.
That was why John Leibler valued the bank stock Josh had so highly.
There was a good way around the restrictions on domestic banks, foreign banks. Foreign banks were already engaged in various cross-border businesses, so they were not subject to the domestic ban on interstate banking.
What's more, Josh didn't expect Tommy to earn much by participating in the management of the bank, because the bank itself had plenty of financial talent in terms of specific business.
He just needed someone reliable to sit in the chair and keep an eye on the people in the bank to make sure they didn't mess around.
Tommy, with his happy family life and many children, was obviously well suited for the position.
"Mr. Angelo is really a good man!" Margaret was not very good at business, but she still had a good sense when it came to her former neighbor. She had often socialized with Tommy's wife, Sarah, when they lived in the old house, and their relationship was very good.
Even though they have moved, she still misses those days.
So she agrees with Josh's decision.
But as the two of them talk, Margaret senses that Josh's gaze is starting to feel a little off.
Since the mansion is well heated, Margaret doesn't wear much when she's not out.
Now in the bedroom, not to mention the white expanse dress, she is blinding to Josh's eyes.
"No way! It's only been a month!" Margaret throws another pair of towels at Josh.
It is not appropriate to have sex within 42 days of giving birth, and it has only been a little over a month.
"Hey, well, I just want to satisfy my curiosity and try it!" Josh shamelessly told Margaret.
Margaret was helpless. What could she say when she met a man who liked to fight with her for food?
...
The next day, Josh, who had already made up his mind, brought two bottles of good wine and visited Tommy.
After much deliberation, Tommy accepted Josh's invitation.
Although he was now the vice president of Chicago Taxi Company, in reality, his excessive authority within the company had aroused the suspicion of the board of directors, so he was not happy in his job.
Now that he had been invited by Josh, he was also happy to change his work environment.
