Chapter 50 Hu Li's Assist
All the black spider silk tightened at the same moment, and the enormous Blood Flesh Giant Beast uttered a series of indistinct, piercing roars. Erin exerted all her strength to control those dark threads, constantly changing their weaving direction in mid-air, assembling them into towing ropes that dragged the monster bit by bit toward the direction of the gate.
Yu Sheng exerted all his might to hold open the gate, which was wider than ever, striving to make it even broader and more stable.
The "gate" had the property of isolating internal and external environments, opening a gate alone was not enough to "release" the harsh environment on the other side directly to this side; to burn this monster to death, it had to be thrown into it entirely.
Normally, this isolating property was beneficial as it prevented Yu Sheng from accidentally opening a passage to a dangerous area and causing catastrophic accidents. But at this moment, Yu Sheng truly wished the gate could merge the environments of both sides without any protective measures.
In that way, he could simply open the gate directly inside the lava lake, and the magma gushing out from the gate would roast the monster directly, saving all this effort.
But that was all he could wish for—regarding the power of the "gate," he had only just grasped it, and being able to ensure the gate opened at the right location was already quite difficult; it really couldn't be expected to be used as a flexible, offensive tool.
In a frantic moment of thought, the beast had already been dragged to the front of the gate, and even some parts of its limbs had been forcibly shoved into the gate. Through the gate, Yu Sheng saw those parts that crossed the threshold quickly dehydrate, and then they were rapidly ignited and carbonized in the inferno-like high temperatures…
In a daze, he even felt his own limbs burning.
The struggle of the Blood Flesh Giant Beast became almost insane in an instant—even the "Hunger" acting purely on instinct sensed tremendous danger and fear at this moment; all its limbs trembled violently within the spider web, and countless fissures opened up on its body, numerous eyes, mouths, sharp teeth, tentacles, and even mimicry structures resembling human facial features and limbs all burst forth!
From its grotesquely twisted giant mouths came even sharper roars, the closely distant roaring made Yu Sheng's ears buzz, even stirring up a tsunami-like noise in his thoughts that made him dizzy, but he still clutched the unreal door handle firmly, watching the giant beast being stuffed bit by bit into the passageway leading to inferno.
However, at that moment, he heard a series of unnerving cracking sounds.
Yu Sheng abruptly looked up towards where the cracking sound was coming from.
It wasn't Erin's silk threads that had broken—the little puppet had put her all into it, not a single chain had dropped.
It was the flesh and twisted limbs on the monster's surface that had broken.
It began to tear away the spider web in mid-air bit by bit, ripping its body into shreds, flesh and blood blurred; it seemed to feel no pain at all, those badly restrained limbs were even directly torn off from its body, then new limbs grew out from its flesh, clinging onto nearby rocks and hastening its escape.
It almost turned into an amorphous, flowing mass of flesh, rapidly morphing and "leaking" through the gaps in the spider silk.
It was adapting to Erin's spider web; it was learning a new physiological structure.
"We can't trap it anymore!" Erin's shrill scream came from not far away, "My body can't hold on either! Think of something, Yu Sheng!"
Yu Sheng turned around and saw fine cracks rapidly appearing on Erin's arms and cheeks, the puppet's body gradually crumbling.
"Damn it!"
He couldn't help but curse under his breath, resorting to supporting the gate with one hand and reaching out with the other to grab the monster about to escape.
However, just at the next second, he suddenly heard the sound of a howling wind by his ears, mixed with… a wolf's howl.
A wolf's howl?
Yu Sheng looked up in astonishment and saw shadows abruptly sweeping across the night sky, the outlines of wolves taking shape from the shadows. The Wolf Pack was howling in the sky, running, and then continuously slamming into the giant beast, tearing at its flesh, slowing down the process of it morphing and wriggling.
Following that, Yu Sheng then heard a loud shout coming from behind him, the voice deep and powerful: "I'm here to help you!"
The next moment, he saw a nearly two-meter tall figure rushing towards him like a wild wind from behind, delivering a flying kick in mid-air that smashed onto the giant beast like a giant rock with a dull sound.
The body of the Blood Flesh Giant Beast uncontrollably "fell" towards the gate, its furious struggling and roaring unable to delay the process any longer.
The burly man leapt through the air, turned around with a graceful landing, and then turned to look at Yu Sheng: "Luckily I arriv..."
He saw Yu Sheng's face.
The expression on the burly man's face instantly turned to astonishment, shock filling his eyes, his whole person as if struck by lightning.
His whole body exuded a sense of desolation, feeling like he was led by a fool from one frontline to another.
However, Yu Sheng didn't know why the expression of the burly man in front of him suddenly became so rich, nor did he have the energy to ponder this matter, because he noticed that the Blood Flesh Giant Beast was struggling once again; even though half of its body had already been pushed inside the gate and turned into char, the other half of its body was still stubbornly stuck at the edge of the gate, and it began rapidly regenerating.
An inexplicable connection let Yu Sheng feel anger as well as hatred.
The trembling eyes began to reveal primitive "emotions" and a glimmer of thought.
The unnamed strong man also sensed the movement beside him and hastily looked up, exclaiming in shock, "Damn! This thing can still resist!"
Immediately following was Erin's scream: "It snapped!"
The puppet's arms were covered in cracks, the dark threads snapped inch by inch in the blink of an eye, spiderwebs emitted a series of sharp bursts, instantly shattering and dissipating.
The giant beast broke free.
But just as Yu Sheng felt the situation was beyond salvage and was about to tell everyone to run, a dazzling blue firelight suddenly burst from the corner of his eye.
Hu Li, who had been hiding behind a nearby parapet, somehow mustered the courage to run out. She fiercely watched the struggling monster at the gate; her entire body was sprawling on the ground like a wild beast, her silvery-white fox tails flamboyantly spread out in the night sky, with massive, rapid burning blue Spiritual Fire at the tip of each tail.
The demon fox girl let out a deep roar.
Almost simultaneously, black spikes and bone shards emerged from her limbs and torso, pinning her to the ground.
Seeing this, Yu Sheng anxiously shouted, "Don't worry about this..."
But before he could finish, he saw Hu Li, crawling on all fours, forcibly step forward, breaking free from those spike-like restraints and then abruptly adjusting her posture—
Fox Fire exploded, a dazzling flash suddenly swept through the dark, and a silvery-white missile, with a blue fierce flame trailing behind like a rocket, charged toward the struggling Blood Flesh Giant Beast trying to escape the gate.
Yu Sheng didn't have time to see what it was when a fierce flash erupted from the giant beast's back. Even though the explosion radius was deliberately contained by Hu Li, Yu Sheng, who was close by, felt his bones almost shattered by the blast sound—the beast directly hit by the silvery-white missile instantly lost balance, staggering, and finally plummeting through the gate.
In the rapidly fading roar, Yu Sheng suddenly released his control over the gate.
The phantom gate vanished in the blink of an eye.
The ruined temple quieted down, the quietness that suddenly descended felt almost unreal.
Erin sat down directly on the ground, unable to lift her cracked arms.
A girl in red riding on a Shadow Wolf came walking from outside the ruins, her face wearing a look of amazement, followed by an ordinary-looking young man with black hair.
That young man saw Yu Sheng from afar, his expression momentarily stunned, seeming to recall something, his brow gradually furrowing.
The nearly two-meter tall strong man stared in the direction where the gate had disappeared, apparently lost in astonishment and thought.
Yu Sheng, however, didn't bother to greet these "temporary allies" who appeared out of nowhere. Instead, he immediately turned to look in Hu Li's direction.
The demon fox girl was struggling to rise from the ground, her Fox Fire significantly dimmed behind her, but she was still there.
Yu Sheng was bewildered: So what was that thing that flew past just now? Wasn't it a headbutt?
Then he noticed that one of Hu Li's tails seemed to be missing.
Yu Sheng: "..."
So what did this girl just launch?!
And it can even be used like that?!
Yu Sheng's shock was beyond words. Upon realizing that the silvery-white cone blazing with blue fire that flew out was actually Hu Li's tail, he was entirely dumbfounded, this dumbfoundedness even temporarily surpassing the exhilaration of defeating the formidable enemy.
He didn't understand Immortal Law or Demon Art, but instinct told him that neither sort of techniques would typically include "Nine-Tailed Fox can launch their tails as missiles"...
Hu Li, unaware of the spectacular expression on her Savior's face just then, merely struggled to get up, the wounds on her body pierced by black spikes had already completely disappeared. She staggered toward Yu Sheng, urgency on her face: "Savior..."
Yu Sheng quickly extended his hand to support the unsteady demon fox girl: "You take a rest first..."
But Hu Li urgently interrupted Yu Sheng: "Can't rest, Savior, it's not over yet!"
Yu Sheng was momentarily stunned.
