Chapter 234: 234: Boros vs Kaido (3)

Kaido's entire body was hurled into the ruins of Orochi's palace. At the same moment the ruins collapsed, a massive azure dragon, stretching several hundred meters long, soared into the sky.

"Destructive Wind Breath!"

The enormous dragon circled in the sky. Its long body swelled like a balloon before it opened its mouth and released a violent torrent of wind blades toward Boros.

This single strike engulfed the entire surrounding area of the palace, showing no regard for the unconscious Beasts Pirates members who might be caught in the blast.

The still-conscious All-Stars were so terrified they turned and ran, desperately trying to stay as far from the battlefield as possible. Even Yamato, who wanted to team up with Boros against her father, didn't dare to charge in recklessly at a time like this.

'Shu shu shu shu shu shu...'

Countless thin and sharp wind blades poured down like water, scraping layer after layer from everything within range.

In just the blink of an eye, a massive crater, hundreds of meters in radius and bottomless in depth, formed on the ground.

There was no deafening roar—just silent devastation. Whether earth, rock, or metal, all were reduced to dust under the countless wind blades.

The sky was completely obscured by dust and debris, yet Kaido showed no signs of letting up. He continued to circle above, generating high-temperature flame clouds that gradually engulfed the battlefield's skies.

Even from several kilometers away, one could feel the rising heat in the atmosphere from the ground below.

As the temperature rose and the hot winds began to disperse the swirling dust, Boros was revealed—standing calmly inside a shimmering energy shield.

"Not bad at all…"

Boros looked up at the scorching sky, the curve of his smile widening.

First came Armament and Conqueror's Haki, and now a finishing move that finally made him feel a hint of danger—Kaido had brought Boros quite the pleasant surprise.

Though it still didn't compare to the thrill of life-and-death he experienced when fighting Kizaru, having a 'dessert' right after a 'feast' wasn't a bad idea either.

"Flaming Heat Stream!"

As the blazing clouds filled the entire sky and the heat baked the ground red-hot, the dragon Kaido took a long, deep breath and swallowed all the fire clouds into his belly. Then, with explosive force, he unleashed a torrent of scorching dragon's breath at Boros.

The nearly pure-white stream of heat surged forth like a world-ending flood, threatening to completely consume Boros.

"Energy Cannon!"

But in the very next moment, Boros's energy beam shot skyward, smashing directly into the endless stream of fire clouds like a river reversing course, slamming straight into Kaido's face.

"Roaaar!"

Kaido roared, forcing every ounce of power from his body as he unleashed an even stronger surge of white-hot flames, trying to overpower Boros's energy beam.

Unfortunately for him, now that Boros was being even a little serious, Kaido could only watch helplessly as the 'cutting edge' of the beam—razor-sharp and blinding—raced toward him.

'Boom!'

Even though Kaido barely dodged at the last moment, the devastating energy beam still grazed him, scorching a huge black mark into his draconic body.

Even with Kaido's monstrous physique and impenetrable scales, he couldn't resist the residual shockwave of the blast.

"Damn you! I'm gonna kill you!"

The searing pain—something Kaido hadn't felt in ages—made him roar with rage. Not even when Oden had cut him had he been this furious.

The terrifying power that had nearly obliterated him made Kaido truly feel the horror of standing on the edge of life and death.

"Oh? Really?"

Just as Kaido roared in fury, he suddenly heard Boros's voice whisper beside his ear.

Before Kaido could react, an astonishing force struck him squarely, hurling him violently from the sky.

Having removed the armor that constantly suppressed his own power, Boros in his true state now vastly outclassed Kaido in both speed and strength.

Even Future Sight—Observation Haki at the level of foreseeing events—was rendered nearly useless in the face of such overwhelming disparity.

'BOOM!'

The massive azure dragon crashed hard into the ground, causing the entire Flower Capital to tremble as if struck by an earthquake.

But for Kaido, whose skin and flesh were as tough as iron, this level of damage did little more than enrage him further.

"Raaaagh!"

Kaido, having just been slammed into the earth, sprang up again with a roar and shot back into the sky, prepared to fight Boros to the death.

But before he could even spot Boros, a sudden sharp pain shot through his tail.

Boros had somehow appeared on the ground and seized Kaido's dragon tail before he could fully take flight—he looked like he intended to drag him back down from the sky.

Enraged, Kaido thrashed his tail furiously to shake Boros off. But to his shock, even in his strongest form—the Azure Dragon—he was still being overpowered in brute strength.

Before Kaido could even begin to figure out how to break free, a sudden jolt surged through his tail. And then, his entire massive dragon body was spun violently in place.

Boros, gripping Kaido's tail like a giant whip, spun him around like a top—turning the terrifying dragon into a flying windmill.

Kaido, shocked and furious, struggled with everything he had, but could not stop being flung around over and over. Finally, like an enormous god-slaying whip, Boros smashed him brutally into the earth of the Flower Capital.

'BOOM… KRRRRK-KKKKK…'

The entire city split down the middle, with Kaido as the axis. A giant fissure, tens of kilometers long, tore across the land. Even people in other parts of Wano could feel the ground beneath their feet violently shaking.

"An... an earthquake?!"

"It's coming from the direction of the Flower Capital!"

"Damn it! Is Kaido testing weapons again?!"

The people of Wano looked toward the Flower Capital in fear and anger, but after so many years, even the bravest samurai had lost the will to resist under Kaido's tyranny.

Some began to suspect something had gone wrong with the Beasts Pirates—but until they saw Kaido fall with their own eyes, none dared to rise up against the rule of the Beast Pirates.

"Ka—Kaido-san?!"

Queen's teeth were chattering as he watched Kaido get slammed into the ground by the "One-Eyed Monster." Several seconds passed… and Kaido still didn't move.

Even the All-Stars, who had the utmost faith in Kaido, were beginning to panic.

"Bastard! I'll die before I let you get away with this!"

The hot-headed Jack charged blindly at Boros, trying to rescue his fallen Kaido-sama from the clutches of the One-Eyed Monster.

But Boros casually swatted him away with a single punch, instantly knocking him out cold.

If Kaido still had room to struggle against Boros, then Jack was nothing more than a weakling, barely better than cannon fodder.

The difference in power was so vast that no matter how determined or courageous Jack was, he couldn't cause Boros even the slightest inconvenience.

"Flame Emperor Dragon!"

King's katana erupted into blazing flames as he slashed, sending a massive dragon-shaped flame wave toward Boros.

As a Lunarian, King naturally possessed control over fire. After combining that with his swordsmanship, Haki, and Devil Fruit powers, he had developed his own unique combat style.

Among the All-Stars, King was undoubtedly the strongest. Even Boros looked at him with mild surprise after effortlessly dispersing the flames.

It seemed Boros hadn't expected this man—whom he'd previously brushed aside with ease—to actually show some trace of worth.

"Royal Fire Shot!"

Even knowing he was no match, King still transformed into his pteranodon form and, like Jack, charged forward in a desperate attempt to rescue Kaido.

The massive pteranodon flapped its wings and launched an attack at Boros—only to be casually knocked to the ground by a single punch, losing consciousness on the spot.

"Clack-clack-clack-clack…"

Queen watched helplessly as Kaido and the two All-Stars were all brought down by the "One-Eyed Monster." His fat body began to tremble uncontrollably, and his teeth chattered violently—he had no idea what to do.

He wanted to charge in, to fight like King and Jack—but under Boros's emotionless gaze, his two stubby legs refused to move even an inch.

"That guy actually beat Kaido…"

Yamato was stunned at first—then overcome with joy.

The Kurozumi Orochi was already dead, and now Kaido of the Beasts had been defeated as well. Didn't this mean Kozuki Oden's dream of opening Wano's borders was about to come true?!

While Yamato's head was filled with visions of Wano's future, Boros had already walked over to Kaido, who had reverted to human form.

The title of "Strongest Creature on Land, Sea, and Air" wasn't for nothing. In just a few minutes, even after being smashed unconscious, Kaido had already begun to regain awareness.

As the memories of what had just happened came flooding back, Kaido instinctively prepared to explode with rage—only to see Boros standing calmly in front of him.

"You still want to keep fighting?"

Boros asked with a calm expression. Though the fight hadn't exactly thrilled him, he didn't mind this kind of "battle."

If Kaido still wasn't convinced, Boros didn't mind dragging it out even longer.

Kaido stared hard at Boros for a long time—but unexpectedly, this time, he didn't leap up and go berserk.

"…Who the hell are you?!"

Kaido growled through gritted teeth, as if he wanted to grind Boros's bones to dust and swallow them.

"Then let me reintroduce myself—"

"I'm the captain of the Dark Matter Pirates, from space."

Boros stood before Kaido, speaking slowly and deliberately.
