Chapter 231: 231: Boros' Expedition (2)

"Go ahead," Boros replied.

Boros spoke indifferently.

Truth be told, Kosoro was still a bit too naive—Boros didn't care whether his subordinates were useful or not.

To Boros, the only standard for judging a subordinate was strength.

Those lacking in strength were all pathetic weaklings and worthless trash. The Dark Matter Pirates needed only the strong.

So, under Kosoro's disbelieving gaze, he and a group of pirates who wanted nothing more than to kill him were unceremoniously tossed to the ground… and sent to take control of the Beasts Pirates.

Outside the Flower Capital in Wano, the Beasts Pirates had already fully assembled. When they saw a bunch of unfamiliar pirates descend from the sky, they immediately assumed an all-out attack was about to begin.

But once the fighting started, they quickly realized the enemy wasn't even worth mentioning. A few of the stronger ones couldn't even lift a finger against one of the All-Stars, Queen.

"They're all weaklings… hmm, one of them's passable…"

Aboard the ship, Boros shook his head in disappointment. His gaze finally landed on Queen, who had transformed—only then did his expression ease a little.

Still, among a crew of several thousand pirates, only a dozen were barely worth noticing, with just two or three of them barely acceptable in strength… and then there was the supposedly superior King of the Beasts, Kaido.

Looks like Borsalino hadn't lied to him after all.

"What the hell? A bunch of nobodies think they can attack the Beasts Pirates? Speak up! What did you do to King?!"

Queen's massive foot stomped down on Kosoro's chest. Despite their usual disagreements, Queen knew well that King—just like him—was one of Kaido's irreplaceable pillars.

Kosoro, whose limbs had already been broken, was completely despairing. He couldn't understand why Boros would treat him like this. Had he not groveled hard enough?

The searing pain in his shattered limbs and caved-in chest pushed him into deeper hopelessness. Pirates rarely looked after injured crewmates—let alone someone now practically crippled.

"You're all doomed… You've caught the eye of that monster… hahaha…"

Kosoro mumbled weakly. And when the corner of his eye caught Boros descending from the sky, he suddenly burst into hysterical laughter, despite the pain.

Crunch!

Queen, already in a foul mood, crushed Kosoro's chest like a tin can, his eyes filled with killing intent as he stared down the newly landed Boros.

Or more precisely—the Boros who was still casually holding the unconscious King by the throat!

"You've got guts, punk!"

Queen's beady little eyes flared with rage. He and King may have clashed often, but that was family business.

Seeing King—another All-Star—being held up like a dead duck was infuriating.

What Boros had done was basically the equivalent of slapping Kaido and the entire Beasts Pirates in the face… with a mud-covered shoe.

"Bastard! Let go of Lord King!"

Jack the Drought bellowed furiously. If King hadn't still been in Boros's grasp, Jack would've charged already.

Though mocked for his "useless elephant" reputation and "ten-billion bounty with nine-billion in ivory," Jack was still one of the three All-Stars. His strength and loyalty were both unquestionable.

Unlike the mutual disdain between King and Queen, Jack was devoted not just to Kaido, but also respected the two who ranked above him.

"…Where is Kaido of the Beasts?"

Boros's gaze passed over Jack, lingered briefly on the transformed Queen, then he asked the question emotionlessly.

"Kaido isn't—"

Jack started to answer honestly, but Queen quickly slapped a hand over his mouth.

"Hmph! For someone like you who doesn't know their place, there's no need for Kaido to step in! Men—take him down!"

Queen shouted arrogantly, and with his order, the Beasts Pirates roared in unison and charged.

"Take down the Cyclops! Rescue Lord King!"

"Feel the might of the Beasts Pirates!"

"You're dead meat!"

Queen had also charged forward with Jack. Nearly two-thirds of the Beasts Pirates' total combat strength had gathered here. Even if their opponent were a monster like Big Mom, they wouldn't be entirely outmatched!

But as the furious wave of Beasts Pirates surged toward him, Boros simply extended his hand, his face still calm and expressionless.

"Those who survive… are worthy of becoming my subordinates."

As soon as he finished speaking, a massive surge of energy erupted from Boros's palm, forming a wide, ferocious shockwave that engulfed every member of the Beasts Pirates.

BOOM!

The entire Flower Capital shook violently from the explosion just outside the city walls. Even the shell-shocked citizens—already like the walking dead—gazed in horror toward the blast, wondering what new madness Kaido was up to.

By the time King awoke from unconsciousness, his naturally cautious instincts kept him from opening his eyes immediately. Instead, he quietly listened to the sounds around him.

The first things he heard were the gentle sounds of string instruments and soft laughter from women… and footsteps of someone dancing?

Confused, King cracked open one eye—and the first thing he saw was that fat idiot Queen… dancing and twisting his body.

Was it all just a dream...?

Relieved and hopeful, King didn't even notice how stiff Queen's smile looked as he quickly sat up.

But before he could let out a sigh of relief, he saw the one seated on the main throne—not Kaido, nor Orochi, but the very monster who had effortlessly defeated him:

Boros.

Wearing his distinctive armor, Boros lounged on the throne that once belonged to Kurozumi Orochi, looking completely uninterested.

Beside him, the courtesan Komurasaki poured him wine with an affectionate smile.

Below the throne, Jack was wrapped up like a dumpling in heavy chains, and Queen was dancing lifelessly like she had lost the will to live.

As for Orochi and his retainers…

When King's eyes swept over the rest of the hall, all he saw were three charred, vaguely humanoid remains.

A chill ran down his spine. Could Kaido… have suffered the same fate?

Fortunately, as King looked further, he saw the Tobi Roppo kneeling outside the palace—but no sign of Kaido.

"You're awake?" Boros said casually after sipping his wine. "Your power's mediocre… but your body's quite durable. Stronger than I expected."

To Boros, even the fearsome "Disasters" of the Beasts Pirates were just… high-ranking fighters.

Sitting beside him, Komurasaki's beautiful eyes shimmered with fascination.

Although the time prophesied hadn't yet come, the fact that even Orochi and his clan had been killed by Boros made her wonder—could this man truly be the samurai from the prophecy?

It was just a shame… he only had one eye. It was a bit intimidating.

But Komurasaki thought, if it was to repay the man who saved Wano, that really wasn't such a big issue.

"You… what the hell are you?"

"Why did you attack the Beasts Pirates?!"

King finally demanded, voice filled with disbelief and lingering fury.

King's expression—hidden behind his helmet—turned extremely grim. Boros's confident and overbearing demeanor made him uneasy, especially since he had been effortlessly defeated along with the rest of the Beasts Pirates.

Such strength… even Big Brother Kaido might not be able to handle this guy!

"I am the overlord of the universe… Captain of the Dark Matter Pirates—Boros. I'm going to become the Pirate King. I heard you guys were strong, so I came to recruit you into the Dark Matter Pirates."

Boros frowned slightly, recalling the speech that Borsalino had taught him.

He didn't quite understand why Borsalino wanted him to become this so-called Pirate King.

But since it was Borsalino's order, Boros had no choice but to follow through.

King and Queen had imagined countless possibilities, even the idea that Boros might actually be a secret agent of the Marines. But they never expected such a wild answer—to become the Pirate King?

Isn't becoming Pirate King just a matter of sailing across the Grand Line and reaching Laugh Tale?

With this guy's strength… who in the world could even stop him?

"We've already sworn loyalty to Big Brother Kaido. We appreciate your offer, but we must decline… As an apology, I can give you a replica of the Road Poneglyph."

A flurry of thoughts flashed through King's mind, but in the end, he gave up the idea of making Boros an enemy.

He didn't know what exactly had happened while he was unconscious, but judging from how Boros had singlehandedly crushed over half the Beasts Pirates without a scratch, his strength was beyond question.

If such a terrifying man could be sent away with just a replica of the Road Poneglyph… that would be ideal.

He doesn't seem too cautious anyway. Maybe the fake copy we prepared will work.

"Big Brother King!"

Jack, bound tightly with chains like a rice dumpling, couldn't help but call out. That replica was something Kaido valued more than anything.

To just hand it over to the enemy?!

If Kaido finds out, the consequences will be unimaginable!

"Shut up, Jack!"

Queen also figured out what King was planning. Even though he constantly butted heads with King, right now he fully supported his decision.

Get this monster out of here ASAP—preferably before Kaido returns.

Jack writhed in protest but didn't dare to disobey the decision jointly made by his two elder brothers.

"It's fine. Kaido can join the Dark Matter Pirates too. He'll be a top-tier combatant. You three can be elite fighters."

Boros didn't care at all about King's polite refusal. No one could say no to a decision made by him—either accept it, or die.

Of course, if someone like Borsalino could beat him half to death again, that would be a different story.

Beside Boros, Komurasaki was stunned. The All-Stars, the Tobiroppo kneeling outside the palace, and even the Shinuchi—were all speechless in shock.
