Chapter 38: Too many arrows
Emperor Tyran sat in his throne listening to the kings and prime ministers argue while addressing matters of the realm.
He was already getting tired and felt his head throbbing at the same time.Even sitting at the same spot for along time made his butt ache.He wondered how long this would last.Sooner or later he would have to call this gathering off and postpone to to tomorrow or perhaps after the hunt.
There were so many issues in Delvin to address that he felt the whole day wouldn't be enough.
The palace attendant who read out the cases held a very long scroll in his hand,he had already gone half way reading out what was written there yet it was almost sunset.
From the size of the scroll below his eye level Tyran could tell there were still dozens of issues to attend to.
He hit is face with his palm and sighed then he peered at the long scroll again from between his fingers and shook his head.
The tasks to address only piled up because he had been distracted from his duties because of Fiona's demise.
Tyran rested his elbow on the throne's arm, placed his arm under his chin and sighed wearily.
Suddenly he had a strange feeling.
It cut through his senses in just a wiff of the moment then it vanished.
Tyran's eyes widened.
Delu had been breeched,he felt it or was he just imagining things?
But how?
He didn't want to believe so and tried to shake off the feeling but he couldn't.
The sharp sensation he just felt was as a result of interference in his spell.
No doubt, his son was in danger.
Tyran glanced over from king maxmillian to General Ren who had never uttered a word since the beginning of the meeting then at the rest of the occupants of the hall.
The fool had sure picked a perfect timing to execute his scheme.
How on earth would he leave this hall without concluding this meeting or should he perhaps postpone it for another time. There was still too much to postpone,he had to look for a perfect reason to excuse himself.
Whether or not he had one he had to leave and he would.
Curse those palace etiquette his father had nutured him with as a young prince suddenly leaving a meeting without a very valid reason...he was the emperor anyway.
"Kindly excuse me great kings"he said and the entire fell silent immediately as all eyes steadied on him.
"In a short while...I will return"
One of the kings opened his mouth to speak but the emperor had vanished.
Tyran appeared in Fiona's bed chamber and ran to Ramses's bed,his chest heaving.
He swung the bed curtains open and when he found Ramses staring back at him he heaved a relieving sigh then he closed it.
Tyran turned his head as If searching for the intruder.
He could appear from outside, that only meant the barrier was down worst of it all, this demon also erased his scent.
The intruder had picked a perfect chance to breech Delu but why wasn't his son harmed, surely he had come here for that very reason and how did the person get the opposing spell. He had made sure it was hidden so no one could find it.
How did he even know there was an opposing spell.
Who ever was here was definitely on the same magic level with him and dark wasn't that person,no was his other aquintance he knew of.He had too many enemies and was already hating it.
Tyran was already pacing to and fro in the room with a hand placed on his chin that he didn't notice a frozen Carolene staring at him from the door way.
He was so lost in thought that he didn't even hear her greet him.
Carolene cautiously stepped in and that when he turned to her with a face flaring with anger.
"Carolene!"he barked"who got in here?"
His voice shook her and she struggled to let out the words choked up in her throat.
"No...no one your imperial majesty"
"What do you mean no one?"Tyran questioned with his voice reaching it's peak.
"I swear on my life your imperial majesty no one got in here... you erected Delu, how could anyone breech it".
"Where were you before now? where are you coming from?"
"Honestly your majesty the last thing I remember was me getting a jar of water to boil for his majesty.I found myself on the floor in her majesty's parlour, it seemed I had passed out but I don't know how...I don't remember anything".
Tyran eyed her briefly then he waved her off and she hurriedly left the room.
He had just realized her memory of what happened had been erased,he had also knocked her out and was careful not to leave any clue
What an overly cautious bastard!
What was his intent and why was his son unharmed?
Unless he has changed his mind on getting here.
At times like this he needed his wife.
Wise Fiona always made the right choices and knew how to handle every situation and she was never wrong, yet he needed her now and she was no where to be found.
Tyran balled a fit and planted it into the wall, after which he let out a loud shriek
He felt both agitated and fraustrated at the same time.
Here he was addressing tons of issues of the realm and now this.
Delu couldn't keep his son safe anymore,he would have to look for another way.
If the intruder had come here without harming his son then probably his son wasn't his target any longer.
Ramses was at least safe for now.
After the hunt he swore to find a way,a permanent way to at least ease off suspensions and keep his son safe.
Tyran took one last look at Fiona's bed and furiously turned to leave the room.
He had a meeting to round up.
