Devouring Dragon Heir

Chapter 144: CH 144 Poor Xylos

"Kaziraik dares to poke his nose in my matter," Klaus said at last, his voice low but carrying a deadly edge. "It seems I'll have to personally deal with him before I resume my conquest. Pests like him should be eliminated early, before they grow into problems."

Klaus had now been fully healed up and was sitting inside a conference room inside the sanctuary since it was the safest place for him right now.

The five lords stood in a half-circle around him, their killing intent still simmering from the earlier assassination attempt. Their loyalty was unshakable, but even they could not hide the unease in their eyes.

It was Wind Lord who voiced the question all of them carried in their hearts. "My lord, what about the assassin? We cannot see him. If he remains cloaked, how do you intend for us to strike him down?"

Klaus's lips curved faintly. "That is simple. All five of you will remain at my side. I will unleash my wide-range skills across the hall. The moment any of you feel the faintest fluctuation in the path of my attack, you will converge upon that exact point and hit it with everything you have. We'll subjugate the assassin alive."

Klaus was talking about his elemental skills, although such a wide area use would surely make the attack ineffective, but the motto was to detect the assassin, and the rest of it, his subordinates will take care of.

"But my lord, the assassin might have been alerted already and might have fled the kingdom right now. "Why don't we just pay a visit to the demon lord Kaziraik directly?" the fire lord suggested; a dangerous gleam shone in his eyes.

"Well actually you are right, but what if the assassin has not left and bothers me again?? That is why I will wait for a day; if that assassin attacks me again, I will call you five out of the sanctuary and then attack him with my skill once. In that span, if he gets hit, you will instantaneously know, as a subtle fluctuation will occur.

If not the assassin will most probably flee and at that time, we all can give the 35th demon lord a visit"

His calmness was unsettling. He had just suffered an assassination attempt, and yet he spoke as if he were planning a simple hunt.

Perhaps his long record of slaughter had stripped away his basic human instincts. Or perhaps it was something else, the unshakable pride of a dragon that lived within him—the trait 'dragon's pride.'

The lords understood his plans, and with that he exited the sanctuary again, reappearing in the same position as before on the throne.

Xylos also hadn't left till now; he had been frozen in his place after Klaus had disappeared and then reappeared on the throne.

He was now thinking about whether to attack again or not.

His trust on the invisibility ring was strong, But Xylos had forgotten a simple truth. Invisibility was not the same as becoming intangible.

A solid body was still a solid body. Surfaces, energies, and attacks could still make contact. That ignorance would soon cost him dearly.

He clenched his jaw, strengthening his resolve. His mission was clear: kill the messenger at all costs. His lord demanded it, and his pride demanded it. Renewed determination filled him. This time he would not miss. This time Klaus would die.

With renewed confidence, Xylos took out another ivory dagger and hurled it at Klaus, aiming directly at the center of his chest.

Unfortunately for Xylos, Klaus had been ready.

The instant the dagger appeared in the air, Klaus's body flickered, moving with impossible speed. He dodged with ease, his senses already locked onto the trajectory.

At the same time, he summoned his six lords in a flash.

As soon as the six lords appeared, one of them blocked the entrance. Meanwhile, Klaus unleashed all of his AOE ice elemental skills, and as he anticipated, the ice worked the best in tracing the figure of the assassin.

Xylos didn't even get the chance to react; he did not understand how those six subordinates teleported instantly here in this room, and meanwhile, he could cope with that an attack had already been unleashed.

He tried to flee the scene and rushed towards the gate, but he saw one of Klaus's subordinates blocking the entrance with a wall of fire, which would incinerate him instantly.

Just that moment of hesitation led to the blunder; Klaus's glacial domain caught up with Xylos, covering his feet and legs with ice.

Xylose's instincts screamed as he realized he had been discovered. He tried to flee, but before he could even try, Klaus's fingers snapped as he used his telekinetic force to crush the frozen feet of Xylose in an instant.

"aaarg...hh.h.h.h." A bloodcurdling scream tore through the hall, and the sound was enough for the rest of the lords to hunt the assassin.

The thunder lord came in close proximity to the poor assassin before giving him a paralyzing shock followed by a wind blade from the wind lord that left a cross mark somewhere on his body, and since he was invisible, they could not see what had been cut off.

Klaus was curious, so he used ice again on the now paralyzed demon to outline his shape. He did not know what was still keeping the demon invisible.

The amount of pain he had inflicted must have already led to the demon deactivating a skill if he had been using one, but now he was clear it was either an external artifact or medicine that was keeping him invisible.

"An artifact or a potion," Klaus muttered. "Something's keeping him cloaked. Search him. Find it." Klaus gave the order leading to a thorough inspection on the subordinate's part.

'Cruel' would be an understatement, as the inspection was more like a slow torture.

necrolord stood at the side guiding the other five

"Search his arms first. If it's a bracelet, we'll find it there."

earth and shadow lord ran their hands through them and both of them got their hold on something and since they could not feel any bracelet they just ripped what was in their grip.

"AAAAAArrrrrgh..." another bloodcurdling scream rang in their ears.

"Oh no shadow!! That was a leg. Be careful; we don't want him to die, not before the lord is satisfied with the torture," the necrolord said with concern in his tone.

Meanwhile, the earth lord had an arm in his hand, which he just threw away somewhere on the floor.

The mystical protective robe, which had earlier helped Xylos escape a few months ago, was useless now in front of Transcendent's raw power.

They still couldn't get hold of the artifact, so the necrolord told them again.

"Search for the other hand and also look for the ears; the artifact might be an earring. Be careful, Shadow Lord, we don't want this bitch to die so soon."

This time again, both the lords got ready. The earth lord got hold of something. "I think I got the other arm of his."

Meanwhile, Shadow Lord also ran his hands through the body, and something small came into his grip.

"I think I got hold of his ears," he said while looking at the necrolord.

"What are you waiting for then?"..."LLLettt it riiiip," the necrolord said while

riiiip

"AAArghhhhhhh..." another violent scream erupted; this time everyone got shocked.

The earth lord had ripped off an arm, and the invisibility had come off now. But that was not surprising because the thing the shadow lord had ripped off was much more gross.

"Wha—what the fuck…" He gagged, then threw it aside with a violent motion. "That wasn't an ear…"

Necrolord burst out laughing, and soon the rest followed. Even Klaus allowed himself a hearty chuckle.

"Shadow Lord, you dumb bastard," Fire Lord cackled. "You confused that for an ear? Hahaha!"

The laughter did not stop until the shadow lord, whose aura was now in negative, had to say it out.

"Ahem, the invisibility has been removed, my lord," he said, looking at Klaus with puppy eyes, pleading with him to change this embarrassing topic.

klaus smiled as he looked at the now broken body of Xylos, he walked up to the demon and looked in his eyes with an eerie smile "we meet again coward".

He then turned around and walked toward the throne, declaring to his subordinates, "It is confirmed now; this bitch was working for Kaziraik and had also attempted to assassinate me when I came into this world."

"Take his head; I will decorate it beside his lord's head."

On his orders, Wind Lord unleashed a wind blade, severing Xylose's head, who had been writhing in unimaginable pain earlier.

Tell the servants to clean the mess. Klaus said as he stood up to leave.

"My lord," the fire lord stopped him as he came in front of him and bowed while presenting a shiny, sparkling silver ring to him.

"My lord," Fire Lord said, presenting the item. "This is the ring. The artifact granted this ant his invisibility. Without your foresight, we might not have caught him. Your wisdom is unmatched."

Klaus took the ring, studied it briefly, then pocketed it. His expression was calm as he muttered, "Good job. No need for flattering."
