—--------------------

Klaus was now sitting on a plush sofa in his room in the royal palace.

The city outside, under a state of curfew, was a place of enforced silence, but inside his mind, a constant storm raged.

He was quite overwhelmed by the long list of skills he had, and he realized that skills below SSS rank were rarely being used by him now.

His power had become so immense that only his most potent, reality-bending abilities were truly useful.

Even the ambitious skill like Blazing Meteor, which he had created specifically for showing off, was not being used since he now almost always preferred swift killing.

Klaus preferred quick conflict resolution over long, stretched debates with someone who had come with the intention to kill him.

At first, he had thought that intimidating tactics, like roasting a whole bunch of legacy or cutting off James's limbs, worked well on people and they would stop messing around with him.

That was the reason why Klaus had shown off so much in the youth conclave that time.

He had wanted to establish his dominance, to show everyone that he was not a person to be trifled with.

But clearly, even after roasting alive almost 50 participants, it had encouraged even more self-obsessed people to challenge him during the academy's battle royale.

People like Michael had clearly thought of making him a stepping stone instead of being aware of his strength.

Even brutally killing Veridian had not created much of an impact. Stronger people still did not fear him.

Klaus's internal thoughts were now focused on the time when he had clearly sensed some paragons near the entrance of the SSS-rank dungeon in Antarctica.

"They are probably planning to ambush us when we come out of the gate tired after fighting monsters inside; they will then ambush and kill us when our stamina is low."

This was a classic tactic, a trap he had seen countless times in web novels or movies. It was simple, effective, and relied on the assumption that the target would be exhausted after a fight.

Klaus knew that he was not a simple hero. He would not fall for such a simple trick.

"Well, some of my classmates are going to be orphaned in a few days." Klaus thought, his face etched with a devil-like smirk.

He had not bothered with them even when they were surrounded because he had the confidence to kill all the human paragons even when he was just at SS rank.

At the mortal realm he could use Dragon's Might (Legendary) at most 10 times, and that was enough to kill all the paragons because he knew most of them would be one-shot with that skill.

And Klaus did not care if side effects showed up; he had enough DP to get very potent healing items from the drawers.

After this incident Klaus realized that showing off power and having more influence don't work completely.

Yes, having significant power and influence and even a background like the hunter association does deter many forces from going against you, but it also makes many new enemies.

His belief in the law of power, meaning to believe only in being the strongest everywhere he goes, was becoming firm as his experiences grew.

The only solution to thrive is by becoming stronger every second, and that's what Klaus decided to do right now.

The last day after he killed Godwin, he had inquired about the strength of an empire from Caesar and Andrea and came to know about how the criteria for the strength of a territory are decided by the world.

A lower kingdom has at least one pseudo transcendent and multiple SSS ranks; a medium kingdom like Riverdale had more than three pseudo transcendents in the past.

And a higher kingdom has at least one transcendent and multiple pseudo-transcendent.

The Falcon Empire, from which the previous marquess had connections to, was an empire, meaning it had more than 3 full-fledged transcendents to protect the empire and multiple pseudo-transcendents.

Although they did not know the further strength autonomy of the Falcon Empire, they were sure that no one messed with them, and they were the hegemony, at least on the human continent.

Klaus did not care much; once his mission was completed, he would leave the place.

As for what his mission was, only the late king knew, but he had already died. Now the only people who might know what it is are Andrea or Caesar.

Both had been speaking the same lie that the mission was to kill the demon god. But he knew that the thing was not so simple.

He had personally roamed around the kingdom the past few days he had been here.

It was not a big deal for him; being the strongest being, he could pass through every surveillance. He had personally seen the miserable condition the common population lived in; in his disguised form, he had visited many gatherings inside taverns and other social places.

One thing he felt from people's tone was that they were neither in support of the king nor any other factions.

All he heard were tales of exploitation from people. The rampant slave trade and unfair laws that were in place were really unreasonable and exploitative.

And from all the information he gathered, one thing was clear: the king had not been completely innocent.

The unfair policies, even though introduced by previous corrupt nobles, were at the last stages always in place by the late king's approval. Somewhere in these exploitative policies the royal family was also getting benefited.

Klaus's new understanding of the Riverdale Kingdom's political landscape solidified in his mind.

He realized more and more that the true face of humans was the same everywhere, no matter which planet or universe they were in.

The late king's approval of the unfair policies, the exploitation of the common people, and the slave trade—it was all a grim reality that Klaus came face-to-face with in his recent exploration in this kingdom.

He now understood one thing: that the praises Caesar had sung about the king were really overexaggerated and were just to manipulate him.

He knew that the queen, Andrea, and the general, Caesar, were subtly acting as if they were weak and needed his support; they were also acting submissive, always just to not let him get any idea about the real truth about his mission.

That is why now Klaus did not care if the empire attacked and the queen was taken down by the empire's forces.

He would prioritize leaving the Starworld and completing the mission as soon as possible. In fact, he only saved their asses because he was pitying them and also because keeping Andrea alive might be part of his mission.

But he knew that the mission was not so simple; given the late king's deeds, he must have assigned many conditions on this quest for his daughter's benefit before dying.

Klaus closed his eyes. His mind went back to the first day when he had arrived in this world.

Klaus, who was now in his room, opened his eyes. He got up and walked to the window.

The city lights were flickering in the distance.

------------------------

A few hours later, in a secluded room in the palace, Klaus was meeting with Andrea and Caesar.

Andrea, the new queen, was now in her royal robes, her face filled with a sense of immense responsibility. She looked at Klaus, her eyes filled with reverence.

Caesar, the army general, was also there, his posture straight, his face filled with determination.

"My lord," Andrea said, her voice soft, "I would like to thank you for yesterday; you have saved us again. We are forever in your debt."

Klaus, who was sitting on a grand chair, looked at them with a calm expression.

"Your gratitude is not needed," he said, his voice cold.

"I would like to know about the real mission that your father had assigned to the messenger before dying."

Just as both of them could say anything, Klaus interjected them in between and completed his sentence.

"Please keep your petty lies with you; otherwise, if I decide to do things my way, then the demon lord will look like a joke."

Andrea and Caesar looked at each other, their faces turning pale. They had been exposed. The secret they had been hiding, the mission they had lied about.

--------------------

Dear readers if you don't understand this thing 'summoning a messenger', just relate it to a cliché hero summoning in an isekai anime where the main quest is assigned by the person who summoned the hero and until the quest completes the hero can't leave the world.

In Klaus's case the only difference is that he can choose to leave the world he has been summoned to but the promised gifts won't be awarded.

the gift is also decided by the summoner in this case and the supreme will ensures the gift is delivered properly.

the value of the gift is equvalent to the difficuty of the mission assigned by the summoner.

there is also a price the summoner pays to the syupreme will if the gift is too costly for the summoner. we will explore this part in the next few chapters.

HAVE A NICE DAY TILL THEN!!!
