Chapter 160: Chapter 155
[Ding! Congratulations! You have received—Piedra Del Sol[Divine]: Known to be the megalith of the ancient Aztecs and Quetzalcoatl's Noble Phantasm, however, it has been fashioned by the system to become the user's personal temple and new sub-divine source. Basically, whenever a follower of yours were to bring offerings(or sacrifices, but that's totally optional) the user's divinity and overall strength will be increased...depending on the faith of the followers and the quality of the offerings/sacrifice.]
"....So I got a temple now, but no place to put it." Zenkichi muttered and dismissed the system prompt as he took a swig of nonalcoholic grape juice.
Hey, just because he had an ability that activates by drinking alcohol, doesn't mean he was a true alcoholic! He had just made that ability as is, as a meme.
Was it the brightest idea? Nope. But it was certainly funny for him and throws his enemies off with how stupid it is
Off the battlefield, he preferred staying sober and enjoy sweetness that is juice. Shame Quetzalcoatl didn't create apple trees.
After their meeting earlier for their next move, which was to head towards the underworld, Quetzalcoatl decided to throw a party to celebrate the reunion of friends and of new friendships.
"....Seriously, where the fuck do I place my new temple? I'd get a lot of unnecessary eyes if I place it somewhere back in my homeworld," Zenkichi hummed, deep in thought. "If I don't get sent back to my home after this FGO problem, I'll head to Kamado's world."
Although their world's era is nearing the 21st century, which would make gathering followers difficult...."But considering they're in the Taisho Period, I think they desperately need a helping hand," he mused. Those who knew a bit of Japanese history would understand what timeline that era was in.
Demons aren't the only problems Kamado and his allies are going to face in a few years....
"There you are," Brunhilde's voice cut through Zenkichi's musings as she approached him. Her arms were crossed, and she gave him a curious look. "You've been quiet ever since the party. You still owe us some hugs and kisses. So what's on your mind?"
Zenkichi glanced, offering her a shrug. "Just trying to figure out where to put my new temple."
"Temple?" Brunhilde raised an eyebrow. "Since when do you need a temple?" she blinked and chuckled in realization.
"Okay, I get it. But just because a few Gods have temples, doesn't you need to get one. You aren't that much of a douche, yet."
Zenkichi rolled his eyes. "Oh, haha. No, I don't have to build one. I got a copy of Quetzalcoatl's temple here, which has now become my own....system-gifted, of course."
Brunhilde blinked, trying to process what he just said before her eyes widened. "Wait, you got a divine temple? Like, an actual divine artifact temple? Quetzalcoatl's...Noble Phantasm? The crystallization of her legend? The one we're in right now?"
Zenkichi nodded.
"You're kidding."
"Nope. I got an Aztec temple of worship now."
"....What about your devil aspect?" Brunhilde asked.
Zenkichi raised an eyebrow. "What about it?"
"Shouldn't it have some sort of reaction or something? Even if you can't be killed by your energies anymore.... shouldn't there be some sort of reaction?"
"...." Zenkichi opened his mouth, but didn't really have anything to say. He understood Brunhilde's concern.
It was truly strange that the devil aspect of his, that had been steadily growing, especially with the absorption of the Monster Authorities, had remained completely silent. And it's not like it was broken of anything, he could still use his Devil Style without any issues.
Zenkichi paused, 'Yeah that does sound worrying.'
He shrugged, "Eh. Who knows. As long as it doesn't harm anyone, I'm not going to worry about it too much. Maybe it's just dormant or waiting for something."
Brunhilde crossed her arms, eyeing him skeptically. "Dormant? That devil power of yours isn't exactly something that sleeps. You sure nothing's brewing under the surface?"
Zenkichi let out a deep sigh and wrapped his arm around her waist. Brunhilde didn't protest, instead leaning her head against his shoulder with a quiet sigh. "Look, I get it. It's weird, and I'll keep an eye on it. But for now, we've got a long day tomorrow, so how about we just enjoy tonight?"
Brunhilde closed her eyes briefly, savoring the moment of peace. "You're right," she murmured, her voice softer now. "We'll deal with everything when the time comes. For now, let's just relax....I just got you back after all..."
"Brunhilde..." Zenkichi muttered and kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry for leaving your side like that."
"Hmm. It's alright, it wasn't your fault anyway."
"Even so, I'm your partner. I should stay by your side, always," Zenkichi said softly, guilt evident in his voice.
Brunhilde giggled, pulling back slightly to look him in the eyes. "I'm not a possessive girl, Zenkichi. You know that by now," Zenkichi slightly blushed which made her laugh more. "You can't always control what happens. You're here now, and that's what matters."
Her hand gently brushed his cheek, her expression softening. "....I won't let you go that easily next time."
Zenkichi chuckled, resting his forehead against hers. "I'll hold you to that."
They stood there for a moment longer, wrapped in each other's presence.
"....I just gotta know, did you fuck Quetzalcoatl?"
"....Yes, I did. And Jaguarman as well."
Brunhilde whistled and smirked, "Another threesome? You're such a horny little bastard. You haven't banged poor Altria yet, and you're already gunning for others?" She shook her head, clicking her tongue. "For shame. Anyway, how good are they?"
Zenkichi stared at her. "....Is this a trap or something?"
"No."
"No comments at the moment."
"Aww. Don't be embarrassed dear," Brunhilde teased, pinching his cheek. Zenkichi grumbled and took a sip of water.
"There you guys are."
Zenkichi and Brunhilde turned to see Altria walking towards them, looking slightly pouty at them.
"I've been looking all over the place trying to find you two." Altria grumbled as she walked up to them. "You didn't even think to tell me where you were going?"
Zenkichi gave her an apologetic smile. "Sorry about that, Altria. We just needed a bit of quiet time." He motioned to Brunhilde, who was still leaning into him. "But we're all here now."
Altria crossed her arms, her pout still visible but softening. "Well, I suppose that's fine...for now." She glanced at them several times whilst taking sips of her drink.
Brunhilde noticed her gaze and chuckled. "Why are you acting all coy? C'mon, join in."
"Eh? Ah, N-No... That's fine, I—"
Brunhilde raised an eyebrow, smirking mischievously as she outstretched a hand. "Come on, Altria. No need to be shy now."
Altria's face flushed slightly, and she took another sip of her drink to hide her embarrassment. "I'm not being shy! I just—" she hesitated, glancing at Zenkichi and Brunhilde again before looking away. "I didn't want to interrupt anything."
Zenkichi chuckled, shaking his head. "You're not interrupting anything, Altria. You're always welcome."
"I—"
"Oh for the love..." Brunhilde rolled her eyes and grabbed Altria's hand, before the latter could do anything, she was quickly sandwiched between her friend and her master. "Was that so hard?"
Her face quickly turned red.
Brunhilde leaned to whisper, "Y'know...You've been trying to find your dear master here for a while, constantly worried for his well being. Well, he's here now, safe."
Brunhilde leaned closer, her voice a soft, teasing whisper. "But don't you think you need a little reward for all that effort, Altria? After all, you've been so devoted."
Altria's blush deepened, and she fidgeted slightly between them. "W-What are you saying? I don't need a reward... I was just doing what any knight would for their master." Her voice was shaky, a mix of embarrassment and hesitation.
Brunhilde chuckled, giving her a gentle nudge. "Maybe, but I think he might want to reward you." she glanced up at Zenkichi with a raised eyebrow.
Zenkichi, his expression caught somewhere between amusement and surprise, glanced down at Altria. "She's right, Altria. You've done more than enough. Let me at least make it up to you."
Altria opened her mouth to protest, but the warmth of being between her friends made it hard to find the words.
She sighed, relaxing a little as she looked up at Zenkichi, her eyes softening. "Fine... but don't go overboard."
Zenkichi smirked. "No promises." He leaned down and kissed her lips softly, causing Altria's breath to hitch, her heart racing as she closed her eyes, melting into the kiss. Despite her earlier protests, her body responded instinctively, leaning into him as if seeking more of his warmth.
Brunhilde, watching with a smirk, gave them a knowing look but didn't interrupt. She knew Altria had been holding back for a while, and now was the time for her to enjoy a moment of closeness with Zenkichi.
After a few long seconds, Zenkichi pulled back, his gaze meeting Altria's with a soft intensity. "I'll always be here, Altria. You don't have to worry."
Altria's face flushed as she opened her eyes, looking slightly dazed from the kiss. "Master..." she whispered, still feeling the lingering warmth of his lips.
Brunhilde grinned, giving Altria a playful nudge. "Ara, ara, do you wish I bring you a refill of your drink?
"You...!"
Zenkichi chuckled and held both women in his arms.
He was going to enjoy every moment of his life as he had intended, no matter how strange, weird, or dangerous it becomes.
