Destiny Mission of game 'Star Ring'

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Shock

```
The streets were filled with raggedy zombies wandering everywhere, and from time to time, players could be seen moving about. It was clear that, aside from this safe zone, there must be many other surviving players.
However, Su Mo wasn't concerned about that; he was now searching for special buildings to target for his next exploration.
He quickly found a hospital, a school, and an old government building.
Unfortunately, all these places had been occupied by players, as could be seen by the entrances blocked with various objects.
Before long, the drone's battery had fallen to half, so Su Mo controlled the drone to return.
He plugged the drone back in to charge, his face a mask of silence. He wasn't satisfied with the results of this exploration; no highly valuable targets had been discovered.
But Su Mo wasn't annoyed; it was normal to come up empty-handed, and one couldn't expect to be lucky every time.
He sat in place and waited another three hours, until the drone was fully charged. Su Mo then packed all his things into his backpack and chose to log out.
The world in front of him began to collapse like snowflakes, followed by a plunge into an endless darkness.
When Su Mo opened his eyes, he found himself inside a game cabin, which opened automatically.
Su Mo stepped out. He checked his phone—it was almost six o'clock.
Dawn had arrived.
Gurgle~~
His stomach made a protesting noise.
As Su Mo walked out of the private room, he encountered several girls in various COS costumes, each holding substantial breakfasts and possessing a sweet appearance.
Upon seeing Su Mo, they greeted him sweetly.
"Good morning."
Su Mo nodded slightly in response as he made his way down the stairs to the front desk.
Xiao An greeted him with a bright smile, "Good morning, Mr. Su Mo. Did you enjoy yourself?"
"It was okay. Keep the machine reserved and don't let anyone use it. Charge the time as usual," Su Mo replied indifferently.
"No problem," Xiao An responded respectfully.
Su Mo, hands in his pockets, walked towards the exit.
Xiao An gazed at Su Mo's departing figure, feeling a bit dazed. For some reason, Su Mo had a very unique charisma that was highly attractive.
"Xiao An, what are you daydreaming about? Did you see a handsome guy or something?"
At that moment, a lively girl clad in a maid costume came over, asking curiously.
"No, not at all, Xiao Kui," Xiao An quickly regained her composure and responded.
"It's okay, even if you did, I wouldn't tell anyone. Also, you should go rest. It's time for a shift change," Xiao Kui teased with a laugh.
"That's not it. Oh, the guest in VIP room 07 has logged off. But he requested that the machine be reserved, so have someone clean up later, then lock the door and don't let others in," Xiao An instructed Xiao Kui.
"Who's got that much money to spend 1000 per hour and just leave it?" Xiao Kui exclaimed in surprise.
"That's none of our business. We just need to do our jobs well," Xiao An replied.
"Alright, then."
...
At this time, Su Mo came to the breakfast shop across the old street and raised his hand to call out to the owner.
"Pork buns."
"There you are, isn't this Su Mo?" the breakfast shop owner greeted in surprise.
"Three buns and a bowl of pork broth."
Under normal circumstances, they would only see Su Mo when it was time to pay the rent, which had been settled not long ago.
```

"Okay, okay, I'll get it for you right now."

The owner came to his senses and hurriedly got Su Mo some baozi.

After eating, Su Mo put the money on the table, stood up, and left directly; he needed to go home to rest for a bit.

Although lying in the game cabin put the body in a dormant state, his brain cells were still highly tense. He still needed deep sleep for rest; otherwise, staying tense for extended periods could easily lead to nervous exhaustion.

Walking home, Su Mo saw a massive number of Star Ring Game's promotional posters along the way.

Each promotional poster featured photos of different popular celebrities.

It was practically an all-star promotion!

He was also a bit taken aback by this, the game had become so popular. Why was the promotion still so aggressive, as if they wanted everyone to participate?

"Handsome, why not join our Swordsman Guild, and reign supreme in the game together!"

As Su Mo was pondering, a few youthful-looking youths holding flyers approached him and enthusiastically invited him.

"No, thanks."

Su Mo declined indifferently and headed straight home.

....

In the evening, Su Mo returned to the Star Game Cafe; besides resting for eight hours, he also did some exercise. After sweating it out and taking a shower, he came over.

The Star Game Cafe was bustling at this time; in the center of the first floor, the holographic projection of a player's image was on display.

Of course, this player was not a live player at the Star Game Cafe, but a downloaded image from an online live streaming platform.

A handsome man could be seen lying on a rooftop, holding a heavy sniper rifle, sniping at a crawling monster. The monster's surface was dark, covered with scales, with a mouth like a crocodile, four legs, and ruby-like eyes that moved as fast as lightning.

Everyone watching was on edge, their hearts up in their throats.

Just then, the young man seized an opportunity. He suddenly fired, but the moment he fired, the muzzle lifted a fraction.

"Bang!"

"Ah, it's off!"

"Ah!"

...

The players watching the battle slapped their thighs in frustration; however, the very next second, a shocking scene unfolded. The monster, as if sensing danger, shot forward at the speed of light just as the bullet was approaching.

The next second, its head was perfectly shot and exploded.

"Awesome!!!"

"So cool, worthy of Brother Hai....."

"6666!!!"

...

The atmosphere at the scene instantly exploded.

Su Mo nodded slightly; this guy was a professional, not only good at his craft, but his anticipation was also spot on, and of course, there was that bit of luck.

Because after making the shot, the guy known as Brother Hai was also excitedly slapping his own thigh.

Su Mo didn't continue watching; he walked toward his private room.

Soon he lay down in the game cabin and logged into the game.

When Su Mo opened his eyes in the game, he was still sitting in the stadium. He slowly took out a drone and started operating it again.

The drone took off and flew quickly toward the distance.

To maximize efficiency, Su Mo always maxed out the speed when controlling the drone, so it could capture the most imagery.

To check as many buildings as possible.

Right then, Su Mo's pupils sharply contracted as he found a military camp in the western urban area, close to the suburbs.

The camp was surrounded by zombies' corpses, with numerous armed players guarding it.

Su Mo decisively called the drone back.

Inside the camp, a middle-aged man in a bulletproof vest put down his light sniper rifle with a bit of regret and said,

"Such good targets, just to let them get away, their alertness is not bad."

"Come on, that might be some player's precious drone. If you shot it down, they'd be crying and making trouble for you."
