Chapter 159: Two Conditions.
The date they decided on was the day they gave Red Dream a day later to report to her boss for the meeting. She did so as soon as she got their message.
She pushed against the heavy mark in her mind and thought to herself, "They have set up a date for the meeting. It is three days from now."
Her thoughts were transmitted through the mark to a distant location. A reply came two seconds after.
"That's good. I am impressed by your work ethic. Keep up the good work."
She reminded him, "They plan to resist you."
The voice in her head chuckled. "I don't expect anything less. In fact, I wouldn't believe you if you had said that they wouldn't resist. So what is their plan?"
She hurriedly explained, "I am not going to join them in it. I made that clear to them, so they left me out of their planning."
He told her, "It doesn't matter. Just do your job well and leave everything to me."
Then he resumed his job of stalking his two prey. He wanted to know where they live.
He has made the best plan he can with all the information he has. Eventually he settled on two conditions that had to be met before he could attack them. Those conditions are that he had to catch them off guard and that they had to be alone.
Catching them off guard is very important, as it is the best way to take down the targets quickly. In fact, it is the only way to take down one of the targets.
If he can't incapacitate Rewind before the boy can flash to one of his anchors, he will lose the boy. There is nothing he can do about it no matter how much power he has. That is what makes an Omega so powerful.
As for the second condition, it is to avoid complications in the form of reinforcements.
He can still take down the Count even if his ambush attack fails, but the fight will be far more difficult if other heroes can help the old man. He might actually have to retreat in defeat and hope not to reveal more information about himself.
Each condition is important on its own, but the two of them must be met, or his hunt will lead to a failure. The first condition is especially important because if he fails to incapacitate the boy with one attack, he will have to fight two Omegas.
That's just bad news. So he decided to only attack when the two conditions have been met. For him to come across this opportunity, he had to make sure that he was around them to be able to encounter and take advantage of it. That's why he is stalking them.

Things would have been easier if his aim was just to kill them. But he needs them alive to steal their destiny. So he has to pretend to be a laborer all day long.
He has taken up the guise of one of the workers investigating his burnt-down safe house. His main job is to clean the burned items and sift through them.
It is a lowly job that doesn't pay in much money, but it more than makes up for this with gossip. Through that he was able to learn a lot about the case and his enemies.
He even managed to tag the vehicle that is being used to transport the duo when he helped carry a box of documents to the car. This way, he was able to know where they went throughout the day.
He did his menial labor for two days until he finally got the opportunity he had been waiting for.
It was nighttime. They had just had a day of hard work, and new people were coming in for their shifts.
There were three shifts, and he had pretended to be three different people working around the clock just so he could remain around his targets.
But this time, he won't change into another persona. He is leaving too because the old man and the boy are also leaving.
The old man could still work and could remain awake for another day, but the boy that was always following him was too tired. He was already yawning. It was clear that he wanted to sleep. The old man must have noticed it too, so he took the boy away to rest.
The same thing had happened yesterday, but he couldn't take advantage of it because he thought it was a normal trip for them. He had missed their exit and waited all night without seeing them.
It was until they returned in the morning that he understood what he had missed. But today, he was ready for them. Their car was bugged, so they couldn't escape him.
He followed them in his hoverbike from afar. He wasn't even near them, so they couldn't see him and consider him suspicious.
While he was following them, the old man and the boy were chatting in the vehicle. It was only the two of them in the vehicle. Their car was on autopilot.
The car had space for three rows of seats, but the middle row was missing. This left a lot of space in the car. The two of them were in the back seat alone.
Count said, "This city has become too dangerous. I think we should leave."
Rewind was feeling sleepy, but he snapped awake and protested. "What? No! Why would you suggest that?"
The Count replied, "I made a mistake contacting Thorin. I suspect that he has put a bounty out for me. I don't know why I ever counted on that guy. He is too cocky and volatile. I knew he might try to kill me the first chance he got, but I still went ahead anyway and look where it has got me?"
Rewind didn't feel like it was a bad thing. He said eagerly, "Then let's just kill whoever he sends."
