Chapter 114: 10 Seconds After.
The earth beneath the guard's feet had turned into mud but was still as hard as stone. The mud encased him and propelled him towards Kelvin. He himself had become a human cannon. But to be honest, it was Kelvin that had copied his moves.
This was evident by the fact that the mud that had encased the man grew spikes. He was clearly a better human cannon than the temp that Kelvin had employed earlier. He was protected in armor, faster, and more dangerous.
He shot forward towards Kelvin to collide with him and smash him to pieces. Kelvin responded with a punch with his left hand. His left hand clashed with the human cannon, which resulted in an explosion of earth and flesh.
As usual, the man had led with his head. This turned out to be a bad matchup against someone with the ability to cause anything that he struck to explode.
Kelvin had more strength and force at his disposal than the previous owner of the explosive fist ability, so the explosion he created was bigger too. The man's head and the hard stone armor meant to protect it both exploded.
While he was dealing with these two. The head of security was moving back towards the blast door. This made his eyes catch on to her immediately.
If she had frozen and stood still like the guard behind him, maybe he wouldn't have noticed her. Moving in front of a predator was clearly not a smart move. Especially when she was so weak.
Then again, the guard behind him wasn't moving because he was some kind of genius. He was just frozen because of fear and disbelief.
After all, he had just seen someone snatched right in front of him, thrown, and smashed against a wall on the other side of the room, all in the blink of an eye. His eyes were still blinking as he tried to process what had happened.
So he wasn't a genius. He was the opposite. He was a man with slow mental processing speed. But this was why Kelvin didn't throw his gun at him.
Kelvin threw his handgun at the head of security. She was on the ground crawling away from him, so the gun struck her back. She was wearing a heavy bulletproof jacket, but that didn't save her from the gun.
It was as if a heavy stone had been dropped on top of her. The blow caused her spine to crack immediately. She became paralyzed and could only sprawl on the ground.
All of these had happened in just three seconds after the bomb went off. It was enough time for the two trained guards at the back to pick up the rocket launcher and point it at him.
A rocket shot at him after he broke the head of security's back. He detonated the forcefield beneath his foot with explosive force. The explosion propelled him across the room.
He had dodged the rocket, but he had escaped from it completely due to the small size of the room they were in. The rocket struck the physically and mentally slow guard behind him, which caused it to explode. The explosion caused fire to engulf the half of the room he was in.
He was already rushing forward after he had dodged the rocket. So he was out of the fire a moment after the rocket exploded. He shot across the room towards the guards with bullets flying ahead of him from the guns in both of his hands.
These two guards were also wearing bulletproof jackets. They even had protective helmets on. Even so, the sight of someone shooting at them still scared them.
Kelvin was soon close enough to punch them. He didn't punch the first one, though. He slammed his body into him and crushed him against. Even a sturdy door would be hard-pressed to withstand the force of his collision, much less a soft, squishy human.
Then he dashed towards the second guard and punched him in the guts. He didn't use Explosive fist, as that was overkill. The man's internal organs were obliterated well enough by that single punch. Experience tales at empire
His eyes bulged, and his mouth opened in a loud groan of pain. Kelvin grabbed his head and twisted it off from the rest of his body. This allowed the pressure that had built up within him because of that punch to be released through his neck without the head standing in its way.
This marked five seconds after the bomb went off. It was the time it took the sentry guns to become fully activated. They pointed at him and unleashed the ammunition they had been so eager to dish out.
The bullets struck his armor and resulted in a shower of sparks. Individually, they were not enough to overwhelm the forcefield, but together, they could drain it rapidly.
The two of them were situated at the corner of the room, so they had more points of view. He briefly debated between destroying them first or trying to get through the door first. After all, if he got past the door, they wouldn't be able to shoot at him.
He decided to destroy them since it would be the easiest to do. He dashed to the guns and bent their barrels upwards. This way, they wouldn't be able to shoot at him.
Each sentry gun had four such barrels. They were easy for him to bend, but it still needed time to do so. It took him five seconds to fix both of them. Two seconds to bend the barrels of each gun and a second to move from one gun to another.
This marked 10 seconds after the bomb went off. None of the guards were standing at this point in time. Two of them were still alive, though. They were the speedster and the head of security.
A few shots from his gun fixed that anomaly. Then he got to work on the blast door.
