Chapter 9: [9] Discharge
Even when Zick wasn't aware of Aster's destiny, he didn't plan on directly killing her.
It was thanks to the promise Zick made to Aster's brother before regression.
'You should give back just as much as you receive.'
Zick followed such a rule. Originally, Aster's brother requested to save his sister. However, he couldn't bring himself to let go of the hatred in his heart.
'Since I received help from that bastard, I will not kill her directly. However, it's impossible to save her either. She can only be my pawn, if she dies by others hands, it doesn't have anything to do with me.'
Zick worked for quite a while with Aster's brother, trying to bite some meat off from Ethereal.
It can be considered that he once saved Zick's life too.
But right now, Zick's first move to bring Aster into his clutches was to lead Aster's brother to die. He didn't feel any guilt, as he had already repaid his debt by not killing Aster directly.
Currently, Aster's brother was treated as a blackmail material. Ethereal used him as a hostage to control Aster, not just him, but many of Aster's tribeman.
'Aster came from a different species, located in an unknown world. But her tribe was definitely destroyed by Ethereal. They must have kept her alive due to her immense potential...'
Once Aster was deemed useless, after being poisoned by Zick. Ethereal would kill all the hostages and dispose of her immediately.
Giving rise to an unsolvable grudge between these two parties. Zick just had to act as Aster's backer after that.
And if the plan somehow fails and Aster finds out about Zick's intention?
Simple, he can just kill Aster by leaking some news to his father, about her supporter. With no mana, there was little to nothing she could do against Zick. Wildart was a decisive man, Aster won't survive if he finds out about her identity.
A father just wants to take revenge for his son's suffering. What does it have to do with Zick?
'Hmm, I don't see any loopholes for now.' Zick felt satisfied and looked at the time on his mobile.
{ 11:48 AM}
There was still more than an hour before the check-up.
'System, how many destiny points will be needed to modify the mana veins decay poison, so that it can only be cured by my blood?'
[1,000 destiny points per 100 gram of mana veins decay poison.]
"Oh, I must have around 1 litres of it in my storage ring. But, just 10 grams is enough to poison a single person. It's quite feasible." Zick contacted the loyal hound's working under his father immediately.
He only knew one person from this organization, that was the leader of the hounds.
The phone displayed the recipient's name - [Uncle Jane].
Drick~
"Ohh! Young master Zick, do you need some personal dispatch already?" Jane was informed just a moment ago to allow Zick full access to all hounds. And he followed the order without hesitation.
"Yeah, send two SS-rank shadow hounds to my current location."
"Understood."
Zick cut the call without waiting for the other party to say anything else. Taking out a glass container filled with black liquid - he looked around. His eyes shone, finding the flower vase in the corner of the room.
Quickly grasping the vase, he threw away the flowers in it and began pouring the black blood into it. After transferring a comfortable amount, Zick called out to the system.
'Modify the poison in this glass container as I said before.'
The container only had an inch of it filled.
[Detected quantity: 90 grams. 900 destiny points shall be deducted, are you sure?]
'Yeah.'
Zick didn't hesitate and pondered if he should carry around a weight measuring device.
[Successfully modified!]
Visibly, the already black blood grew darker. Zick threw the flower vase in his ring and turned towards the window.
As if waiting for him to look, two figures stepped out of the shadow beside the window.
'I could feel the bloodlust even though it wasn't directed at me. As expected from such high level hounds.' If he couldn't even perceive such unconcealed bloodlust, all his time living in the underworld would be worth shit!
Handing over the poison, Zick spoke coldly: "Poison Celene Arshein and Aster with this. Oh and dress up like I describe..." Zick smirked evilly.
He knew Ethereal's assassins' uniform, which can be put to use now.
"Hmm, just explode and don't leave anything behind if someone captures you."
"Understood." The two people in robes vanished just as quickly as they appeared.
With the main work over, Zick opened his mobile and familiarized himself with recent news.
Soon, two doctors moved into the room with many medical devices.
"Now we will be carrying out your full body checkup, sir."
"Alright." Zick simply nodded his head.
Instantly, the doctor placed a clip connected with a red wire on Zick's finger.
"Weak mana signal will be ejected into your body, please don't disperse it."
"Sure."
After conducting a few more tests and asking a few questions, the doctor nodded his head.
"Thank you for the kind cooperation." Professionalism resonated through his speech and body.
"Is it over? I will be leaving the hospital now, just send the result to the academy. Oh, you can announce it to those reporters too." Zick straightened his clothes and readied to get out of this uncomfortable room.
Looking at all the pure white tiles made him sick already.
"Wait, dear patient. You have yet to be discharged from the hospital." The woman doctor said hurriedly.
"No need, I discharge myself this instant."
"....." Both the doctors' were flabbergasted.
Zick left through the door without hesitation.
'Free at last.' Time was very precious to Zick, he never knew what kind of stunt the Ethereal organisation can pull at any moment.
For all he knew, they might already be aware of his recovery from their poison.
Through the elevator, Zick travelled towards the front gate of the hospital.
Remembering something, Zick called the driver and sent him back to the house. He wanted to be alone.
After stepping out of the gate, he found a clean and long road before him. The road was surrounded with a good amount of trees, giving rise to a refreshing atmosphere.
A black bike appeared from within Zick's storage ring. He liked bikes a lot in the past, so much that he carried his favourite one in his ring.
Touching the bike, weak mana emanated from it. That's right, this bike was a B-rank equipment, its max speed was almost mach one. But of course, the wielder would have to provide an equal amount of mana to attain such speed.
'I missed you, pal...'
Caressing the smooth surface of the bike for a while, Zick sat on it and started the engine.
Vrrr!!!
He took off with the bike at a moderate speed.
As for the destination, Zick let his heart lead him.
