Book 8 Chapter Fourteen; Solvinius’ Eruption
DING!
THE VOLCANO SOLVINIUS IS ERUPTING!
PREPARE! ALL FIRE-ATTUNED CREATURES ARE ENHANCED BY MANA!
Jazmel's head snapped up at the sound of the system's warning, the words hanging heavy in the air like a dire omen. His eyes turned toward the distant peak of Solvinius, the fiery heart of this fractured domain.
The volcano was a monstrous sight, towering above the chaotic battlefield. Its blackened slopes were streaked with veins of glowing orange magma, cutting jagged lines across its surface like fiery scars. The summit boiled with fury, a plume of molten rock and ash spewing into the darkened skies. It wasn't just a mountain; it was a colossal wound in the earth, bleeding fire and death into the heavens.
The eruption began with a deafening roar, a sound so deep it seemed to shake Jazmel's very bones. A fiery glow lit the skies, casting a hellish hue over the entire battlefield. Rivers of molten rock burst from the volcano's base, carving fiery paths down its slopes, while chunks of glowing debris were hurled skyward, raining down like fiery meteors.
The peak of Solvinius opened like the maw of an ancient beast, spewing a column of flame and ash that stretched high into the atmosphere. The thick, churning cloud blotted out what little light remained, plunging the domain into a crimson twilight. Every few moments, a massive explosion echoed from the volcano, sending shockwaves that rippled across the land, making the ground tremble beneath Jazmel's feet.
The heat was oppressive, even from this distance. Waves of searing air rolled over the battlefield, carrying with them the stench of sulphur, and burning earth. Jazmel could feel the sweat beading on his brow, but it wasn't just the heat it was the overwhelming aura of power radiating from the eruption.
In the molten rivers surging down the volcano's sides, shapes began to form. The fire-attuned creatures, empowered by the Mana-rich eruption, were rising from the magma itself. Hulking beasts, wreathed in flames, emerged from the lava flows, their roars echoing across the battlefield. The eruption wasn't just a natural disaster it was a summoning, a rallying cry for the fire bound monstrosities that thrived in this infernal domain.
Jazmel stood atop the wall, his gaze fixed on the fiery inferno of Solvinius. His hand tightened around the hilt of Yoru No Tsubasa. This was no ordinary eruption it was a herald of greater destruction, a force that would push him and his allies to their very limits.
"Solvinius," he muttered under his breath, the name tasting like ash on his tongue. "This isn't just a challenge... it's a battlefield."
The flood of the beast tide surged toward the walled city like an unrelenting inferno, the ground trembling beneath the sheer weight and force of the creatures pouring out from the molten rivers of Solvinius. The horde was a cacophony of roars, hisses, and the ominous crackle of flames, a mass of fire-attuned monstrosities driven by the volatile Mana saturating the domain.
From his vantage point atop the wall, Jazmel's sharp eyes swept over the horde. His grip tightened on Yoru No Tsubasa, the blade humming faintly as if in anticipation of the coming battle. Among the chaos, three distinct kinds of creatures stood out, their fiery forms etched against the darkened landscape.
The fire chimps were the vanguard of the tide, smaller but no less dangerous than their larger kin. Their bodies were lean and wiry, their skin glowing as though veins of molten lava coursed just beneath the surface. What set them apart were their heads flickering flames sat atop their shoulders like living torches, the intensity of their fires growing brighter as they screeched and bounded forward. They moved with unnatural speed, leaping and vaulting over the larger creatures in their way. Each jump left fiery scorch marks in their wake, their clawed hands igniting anything they touched. Jazmel could see the flickers of cunning intelligence in their glowing eyes, their movements coordinated and precise as they tested the defences of the wall.
Towering over the smaller creatures were the flame golems, living monuments of molten rock and unyielding heat. They were massive, their bulky forms composed of obsidian-like stone that pulsed with glowing fissures of magma. These juggernauts moved slowly but deliberately, each step shaking the ground and leaving molten craters behind.Jazmel could feel the oppressive heat radiating from them even from the wall. Their "eyes," twin orbs of molten fire, locked onto the city with a chilling purpose. When one of them swung its massive arm formed of jagged stone and molten veins it sent smaller creatures flying, its strength indiscriminate in its path of destruction.
"What a waste of Mana," Jazmel muttered, watching one swing from Ardan's great blade demolish a group of fire chimps. Still, the sheer durability of these golems would make them a major challenge. Their outer shells would be nearly impervious to regular attacks, and the glowing cores in their chests pulsed ominously, radiating energy that seemed to empower the creatures around them.
Scattered among the tide were the Ifrits, creatures that seemed to radiate an air of primal nobility despite their savage appearance. Jazmel's eyes narrowed as he saw a greater Ifrit emerge from the fiery haze. Its body was humanoid, but with skin that glowed like molten metal, constantly shifting between fiery orange and deep red. Flames danced along its limbs, coiling, and twisting like living serpents, while a crown of blazing fire adorned its head.
"Stop them before they all reach the wall! We will be overrun!" he yelled as loud as he could, skills shot out, missing the names. He watched as the wreaked havoc on the fiery flood.
The Ifrit's eyes locked onto Jazmel's for a brief moment, twin orbs of white-hot fire that seemed to pierce through him. It raised a hand, and the air around it shimmered with heat as it summoned a lance of flame, hurling it toward the wall with deadly precision. Jazmel's sword snapped up instinctively, the dark energy of Voided Reave dissipating the attack before it could connect.
"The Ifrits are no joke," he muttered. He could see their smaller kin weaving through the tide, agile and relentless, their fiery claws slicing through anything in their way. The greater Ifrit, however, stood out as a commander of sorts, directing the tide with an air of authority.
The tide was a living inferno, surging and writhing as countless creatures scrambled toward the city. The heat was suffocating, a blaring wall of energy that made the air ripple and shimmer. The ground beneath them glowed faintly, scorched by their passage, and the smoke-filled sky reflected the infernal hues of the horde.
Jazmel took a steadying breath, his voice steady and commanding as he addressed those around him. "Prepare yourselves. They're coming in waves don't lose focus. Defend the city, defend each other." His sword pulsed in his hand, the weight of the coming battle pressing down on him like the heat radiating from the tide.
As Jazmel looked toward Solvinius, the distant volcano roared with a deafening fury that reverberated through the air, shaking the very ground beneath the city. The eruption intensified, and the once intermittent bursts of molten rock had now become an unending cascade of destruction.
A massive column of fire and ash shot skyward, piercing the darkened heavens like a fiery spear. The plume of smoke and embers churned and twisted, blotting out what little light remained and turning the sky into an ominous canvas of deep crimson and shadowy black. The thick ash cloud rolled outward, blanketing the horizon, and casting an eerie glow over the landscape.
Molten rivers of lava surged from the volcano's base, carving fiery paths across the domain. They moved with terrifying speed, consuming everything in their way trees ignited in bursts of flame, rocky outcrops melted into pools of glowing slag, and the earth itself cracked and hissed under the unbearable heat. Periodically, massive boulders, glowing red-hot from their journey through the volcano's heart, were launched into the air, tumbling, and shattering as they landed with earth-shaking force.
The heat was palpable even from the city walls. Jazmel felt it pressing against his skin, the air thick and heavy, making it harder to breathe. The light from the eruption flickered and pulsed like the heartbeat of some colossal, vengeful beast, bathing the land in a hellish glow.
Then came the sound a deep, guttural roar that seemed to emanate from the very bowels of the earth. It was a sound of primal rage and unrelenting power, a harbinger of the chaos unleashed by Solvinius. Jazmel clenched his fists, his sharp eyes tracking the rivers of lava and the smoke-choked sky.
The eruption was not just a natural disaster it was a declaration, a herald of the beast tide that surged toward them. Every burst of magma, every tremor in the earth, seemed to feed the infernal horde, their fiery forms emboldened by the Mana-infused air. Solvinius wasn't merely erupting; it was alive, an apex predator awakening to claim its domain.
DING!
THE TIER VI LAVA SERPENT HAS AWAKENED FROM VOLCANO!
DEEP WITHIN THE BELLY OF THE VOLACANO THE LAVA SERPENT SLUMBERED!
THE ERUPTION HAS AWOKEN IT!
QUENCH ITS FIRE AND DEFEAT ITS WRATH!
From the fiery apex of Solvinius, a deafening crack thundered through the air as the mountain's peak split open like an egg hatching its infernal progeny. Molten rock spewed outward in an explosive display, raining fire and stone across the tortured landscape. The lava surged violently, pooling and cascading like a blood-red waterfall of liquid flame, but then amidst the chaos a colossal shadow moved within the roiling inferno.
With a bone-shaking roar that echoed across the domain, the Tier VI Lava Serpent burst free from the volcanic peak. Its gargantuan form rose against the molten sky, a living embodiment of the mountain's wrath. The serpent's body was a terrifying spectacle, a massive coil of molten flesh streaked with glowing cracks that pulsed with searing light. The heat radiating from its form distorted the air around it, creating a shimmering mirage that made it seem even more otherworldly.
Its head was a crown of molten spikes, each glowing with the intensity of fresh magma, while its eyes burned with twin orbs of furious gold, their gaze sharp and predatory. Fangs, jagged and glimmering like obsidian, dripped with molten saliva, each drop sizzling violently as it struck the earth below. The serpent's mouth opened wide, revealing an abyss of fire and molten death, a furnace capable of incinerating anything in its path.
The scales lining its immense body were like volcanic plates, glowing brighter at the seams as lava coursed beneath them, giving it the appearance of a living volcano. As it slithered forward, lava rivers were displaced, surging, and cascading with its every motion. Each movement of its body sent tremors through the earth, the ground quaking as if bowing to its dominance.

With a final triumphant roar, the Lava Serpent reared its upper body high into the air, surveying the land it now claimed as its own. Molten boulders rolled down its body as it flexed, the fiery debris scattering in all directions, igniting the terrain far and wide. The serpent's presence alone was enough to smother hope a living cataclysm, a being born of fire and fury.
Jazmel stood atop the wall, his hand tightening instinctively around the hilt of Yoru No Tsubasa. The sheer scale of the creature was staggering, its fiery form illuminating the nightmarish battlefield below. Even at this distance, the heat from the serpent was nearly unbearable, and the aura of Mana it exuded pressed against him like a physical weight.
"It's awakened," Jazmel muttered, his voice low but steady, as if saying it out loud made it more real. "The first domain boss…" He could feel the eyes of his companions on him, their silence a testament to the overwhelming sight before them.
The Lava Serpent coiled once, its movements fluid yet devastating as it prepared to unleash its wrath upon the domain. The eruption of Solvinius had summoned its ultimate guardian, and the battle for survival had only just begun.
The molten chaos surged closer as three Ifrits, their fiery forms casting long, dancing shadows, rushed the walls with blazing speed. Each stood nearly eight feet tall, their muscular frames wreathed in roaring flames that burned hotter with every step. Their molten claws left scorch marks on the earth as they sprinted, and their hollow eyes glowed with primal rage. Their snarling mouths emitted a guttural roar that reverberated through the stone walls, promising destruction.
Before the first could reach the ramparts, a blur of white streaked from the shadows Baek. His white robes shimmered like moonlight against the infernal backdrop, the flowing fabric defying the chaotic heat. He moved with unearthly grace, his feet barely touching the stone as his movements seemed to blend into a seamless dance.
White Crane!
Jazmel had not seen him use this skill often. But he listened as Baek called out, his voice calm and composed even amidst the fiery cacophony. With a flourish of his hands, an ethereal white aura in the shape of a crane's wings materialized around him. Baek struck with precise, fluid movements, each blow like a dancer's step. The first Ifrit barely had time to react before the crane-shaped energy lashed out, slicing cleanly through its fiery chest, extinguishing the flames in a burst of ash and embers.
The second lunged, swiping at him with molten claws. Baek spun gracefully, ducking under the strike as the crane's aura expanded, sweeping into the creature with devastating precision. It crumbled into a pile of smouldering slag, its fiery essence dissipating in the air. The third let out a defiant snarl but met a similar fate, Baek's strikes elegant yet lethal, leaving only silence in their wake.
Just as Baek landed lightly, the ground trembled beneath a new threat. A greater fire Ifrit, towering at nearly fifteen feet, charged forward. Its body was a molten colossus, its limbs thick and lined with veins of lava that pulsed rhythmically. Its jagged, horned head dripped molten rock, and its every step cracked the earth as it trampled the charred remains of its fallen kin. A deep, resonating growl emanated from its core, its glowing eyes locking onto the wall as it began to gather a fireball of immense size in its clawed hands.
"Sadé!" Jazmel's voice rang out.
"I see it!" she shouted, her voice sharp with urgency. Beside her, Kazumi, her fiery foxhound, let out a snarl, its flaming fur flaring like a living torch. The foxhound's molten tails whipped behind it, creating swirling arcs of heat and fire.
"Let's go, Kazumi!" Sadé commanded, her hands igniting with her well-known skill.
Storm fire!
A fierce, crackling blend of flames and lightning. The foxhound responded with a series of explosive barks, unleashing bursts of Foxfire blue and white flames that burned hotter than conventional fire. The searing blasts struck the greater fire Ifrit, staggering it as the flames licked hungrily at its molten form.
The beast roared, lurching forward despite the bombardment, but Sadé didn't relent. She thrust her palms forward, sending a surge of Storm Fire in concentrated arcs, each one crackling with electric energy. Kazumi darted in close, weaving between the creature's massive legs and snapping at its vulnerable joints with sharp bursts of Foxfire. The tandem assault was relentless, and the greater fire Ifrit faltered, its molten body cracking under the continuous onslaught.
With a final roar of defiance, the beast collapsed, its fiery essence extinguishing in a burst of embers. The ground where it fell hissed and steamed, leaving a glowing scar in the earth. Sadé lowered her hands, breathing heavily as Kazumi trotted back to her side, its tails flicking as if in triumph.
"Well done," Jazmel called out from above, his gaze fixed on the endless tide still surging forward. "But this is just the beginning."
Jazmel's eyes locked on the creeping monstrosity of the lava serpent as it slithered forth, its molten body leaving rivers of fiery destruction in its wake. The intense heat it radiated made the very air ripple, and with each undulation of its massive coils, the surrounding flames surged higher, bolstering the power of the beast tide. Jazmel's grip on Yoru No Tsubasa tightened, his voice sharp as he called his skill into existence.
Black Dragon Talon!
Dark energy coiled around his blade, forming the spectral image of a dragon's claw, sharp and menacing. With a powerful leap, Jazmel struck downward, the blade carving through the air with a thunderous roar. As the attack connected with the serpent's molten scales, the dragon claw manifested fully, raking across the creature's body with a burst of black Mana. The serpent hissed violently, its body writhing as the dark energy left cracks across its molten surface, the molten glow briefly dimming where the attack had landed.
Before the serpent could retaliate, another voice rang out, clear and confident.
Hex Flame!
Lillianna stepped forward, her broom hovering just above the ground, her wide-brimmed hat shadowing her crescent eyes. She thrust her hands forward, summoning a swirling orb of chaotic fire, its colours shifting unpredictably between crimson, violet, and black. The Hex Flame erupted into a torrent of wild firebolts, each one seeking out the serpent's body with unerring precision. When the flames struck, they didn't simply burn they latched onto the serpent's molten flesh, sapping its fiery essence and creating explosions that sent ripples of destructive energy outward. The serpent recoiled; its hiss now laced with fury.
Selvara stepped up next, her silver hair catching the dim, smoky light as she whispered with calm authority.
Tarot Temper!
Her hands rose, and above her materialized the image of an ancient tarot card, glowing with celestial light. The card shimmered, flipping rapidly before settling on an image of Temperance. Streams of black and violet energy poured from the card, coalescing into a spiralling beam of ethereal petals. The petals surged forward, encircling the serpent in a cyclone of razor-sharp blossoms. Each petal struck with precision, cutting deep into its molten scales, drawing sizzling lines of molten blood as it howled in pain. The petals lingered, continuing to spin and tear at the beast even as Selvara lowered her hands.
The serpent reared up, its molten fangs glinting menacingly as it prepared to strike, its massive head eclipsing the smoke-filled sky. Before it could lunge, a booming voice cut through the tension.
Kraken's Cleft!
Ardan charged forward, his great blade shining like liquid steel as he swung it with both hands. As the weapon arced through the air, the image of a colossal kraken manifested around him, its spectral tentacles writhing and slamming into the ground. The force of the attack cleaved into the serpent with unrelenting power, splitting through its scales in a cascading eruption of molten fire and dark energy. The impact was so immense that the serpent's massive head snapped backward, its body thrashing wildly as it screeched, the sound echoing through the broken domain.
The combined onslaught left the lava serpent weakened and enraged, its fiery body now marred by blackened wounds and glowing cracks, yet it persisted, its molten form still an imposing threat. Jazmel steadied himself, his blade ready for the next strike. "This is far from over," he muttered, his eyes glinting with determination.
Sadé darted into the fray, her hands crackling with energy as her voice rang out with fierce determination.
Storm Fire!
A swirling tempest of electricity and flames erupted from her palms, coalescing into a blazing orb that surged toward the lava serpent. The orb burst against the serpent's molten body, scattering arcs of lightning that danced along its scales while the fire burned brighter, fuelled by the creature's own heat. The serpent roared, its movements slowing as the dual-elemental assault seared into its form, leaving its scales cracked and glowing with unstable energy.
Baek stepped forward, his white robes billowing as he drew his slender blade with practiced grace. With a calm but resolute voice, he called.
Night of the white moon!
A radiant crescent of pale, glowing energy formed around his blade, its light sharp and cold against the fiery backdrop. With a single sweeping motion, Baek sent the crescent hurtling toward the serpent. The energy sliced cleanly through the air, leaving a shimmering trail in its wake before colliding with the serpent's midsection. The impact caused a concussive wave that visibly staggered the massive creature, its molten skin splitting further, leaking rivers of glowing magma that hissed and sizzled as they hit the ground.
Jazmel seized the opportunity, channelling every ounce of his remaining strength. The weight of exhaustion pressed down on him, but he gritted his teeth and raised Yoru No Tsubasa high. The blade shimmered with an oppressive, black aura as he bellowed.
Voided Reave!
The air around him seemed to collapse inward, bending under the sheer force of the attack as he swung with all his might. The blade cut through the space before him, unleashing a devastating wave of dark energy that tore through the serpent's body with unrelenting force. The blackened wave carved into the creature, the power of the Voided Reave tearing apart its molten core. The serpent's screech of agony was deafening, its massive form collapsing to the ground with a thunderous crash.
The lava serpent writhed in place, its body glowing with unstable energy, the cracks in its molten skin spreading further as it struggled to rise again. But it was clear this beast, once a force of overwhelming destruction, now lingered on the very edge of death's door. Its fiery eyes dimmed, flickering weakly as it let out a final, hissing groan.
Kaelor leaped into the air, the force of his jump leaving cracks in the ground beneath him as he ascended like a blur. The Grimmfang spear in his hands pulsed with a menacing crimson aura, the dragon's spirit bound within the weapon roaring to life. His voice rang out, cutting through the din of the battlefield.
Wild Spiral!
The spear ignited with a spiralling vortex of crimson and black energy, the air around it distorts under the raw power. As Kaelor descended, he spun mid-air, the momentum of his body amplifying the energy coiled around the spear. Each revolution made the vortex more ferocious, the energy tearing at the fabric of the domain itself, leaving glowing, fiery streaks in its wake.
When Kaelor struck, the spearhead slammed into the weakened lava serpent with devastating force. The spiralling energy surged forward like a drill, piercing the serpent's molten hide and boring deep into its core. The impact was cataclysmic Grimmfang's dragon spirit unleashed a guttural roar, sending shockwaves rippling outward, shattering the ground beneath the serpent and splitting its molten scales further.
The lava serpent let out a piercing screech, its massive body convulsing as the energy from Wild Spiral tore through its form. The crimson vortex didn't just injure; it consumed, the flames on the serpent's body dimming as the attack drained its strength, leaving it writhing and struggling in its final moments. Kaelor landed in a crouch, the spear still glowing ominously as he turned to face the others, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips.
Jazmel watched him, with a weird feeling in his heart. Kaelor had stolen their kill. But the lava serpent was dead now and as the flames dwindled, Jazmel felt his body thrum.
