Denial, Blood of The Fae

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: People are annoying

Raven chuckled as he went through the first year essay's of Minerva. That was his detention for the week.

It was an easy detention, also annoying, having to fix the mistakes of these stupid kids. At least half of these kids didn't understand what they were even writing.

It was literally a single page on their first lesson, turning a match to a silver needle.

With a roll of his eyes as he noted that a person just copied the information from the book directly into the essay, he gave them a C, and moved on.

"What the fuck." Raven said out loud as he held up a fifteen page essay. On the first class. "Can I just give them an F? It's repeated stuff from the textbook, and way beyond necessary." He handed the essay towards Minerva next to him who blinked as she flipped through it and wrote something on it.

"I'll handle this one." She said as she took a better look through It, and he shrugged and continued on. A while later he finished going through all the remaining essays and nearly had them in stacks properly organized.

"Done." He said as he stood up and stretched like a cat. Minerva rolled her eyes as she waved her wand and floated the stacks of essays over to a better area.

"Now what?" Raven asked as he waited leaning against the desk he was at.

"Now you go back to your dorm room, it's nine and curfew is in half an hour." She said and he rolled his eyes as he walked out.

Once he was gone, Minerva grabbed a stack of the essays corrected and was amazed. He hadn't just fixed any basic errors, he had written improvements on helping them understand the subject where it seemed like someone was struggling.

"I might just need to make him my teaching assistant in the future." With a smile, she quickly went through them all and then got ready for bed.

"Perhaps, depending on his understanding, he can help teach the first years." She muttered to herself as she pondered on what to give him as a form of detention. He just finished things too quickly.

It only took him thirty minutes to finish all the first year essays. On top of the tips he added and more.

Raven huffed as he laid on his back, he just couldn't sleep. It has become harder and harder to sleep starting with the summer. Even if he did sleep, he found himself only getting a couple hours of sleep.

Yet, despite that, he found himself not really having any issues from lack of sleep. It was as if his body was changing, and perhaps it was, to accommodate needing less sleep then a human did.

How interesting.

Raven let his thoughts flow for a bit longer before sighing and focusing on something you distract his mind, and that was transfiguration. With a wave of his hand, a book came flying into his hand.

"Mr. Inanis, a word please." Raven glanced up from his book to see Filius Flitwick, their charms Professor and head of house. Behind him was the green eyed girl.

"Hm?" Raven put his bookmark in and closed his book, sitting up properly as he let his hair return to its normal white color. He had it blue for a while, a sign he wanted to be left alone.

"I forgot to mention it to you, but I'm sure you remember the buddy program of our house right?" The professor asked and Raven idly nodded his head, he had in fact almost forgotten about this, he never needed to use it, or wanted to.

"This is your assigned first year, Rose Potter, she was wondering if you could assist her." The professor stated.

"Yeah, no problem." Raven said as he looked at the girl and gestured for her to speak.

"Could you help me with transfiguration? I'm having a bit of issues with understanding how the spell works properly." Raven could appreciate the fact it was his favorite subject too.

"Alright kid, grab some paper and I'll meet you in," Raven glanced down the hallway he could see and nodded to himself. "room 4." He got up and stretched before making his way there, the girl quickly scrambled to get her notebook and pencil as she rushed to follow him.

The tiny professor smiled as he walked off.

"Ok, so what's the issue exactly that you're having?" Raven asked as he stood beside the chalkboard while Rose sat down behind a desk.

"Changing the object. I don't understand the spell work itself on how it happens, I'm also struggling on turning it back." Rose said and Raven nodded to himself as he waved his wand and a match appeared.

"Ok, so you know the spells of course for changing the object back and forth." Raven said as he waved his wand and the two words appeared on the chalkboard.

Alteratio. Reditus.

"Alteratio, the word roughly translates to Alteration. The spell is changing the object into something else for a limited time." Raven said as he waved his wand and the match changed into a silver needle.

Rose nodded her head.

"Now I believe you have covered the effects of Gaia on changing the objects back into their original form, yes?" Raven asked and Rose nodded again.

"Ok good. Now the other spell, Reditus, it's true meaning was lost, but the closest translation properly is, coming back. Normally when the object runs out of mana, the world changes it back, but the spell itself causes the world to realize the change before it runs out of mana and causes it to change back." Raven said as he pronounced the spell, but in actuality just changed it back into the match.

"Of course when a conjured item runs out of mana, poof." Raven said as he vanished the match. A lot more trickier than you'd think wandlessly.

"Does that make sense?" Raven asked as he pretended to pull a small box of matches from his back pocket, but it was just him creating the box.

Rose nodded her head, it did make sense to her.

"Good, now I want you to change this to a silver needle." Raven said as he placed a match in front of her on the desk. He watched as she performed the spell and it changed into a needle.

"Good. Now change it back. Remember, visualization is key for this. You know what the object is, you are returning to its original form, this helps the world do so." Raven said as Rose focused and performed the spell.

"Reditus." The silver needle changed back into a match, and Raven did note there was still time before the needle would have returned to a match on its own.

"Well done. Now do it with all these needles." Raven said as he waved his wand and turned the entire box of matches into needles.

Raven sat there and watched, idly correcting her own used amount of magic for casting the spell.

"The amount of magic it takes to change it, will not take more to return it since you aren't overpowering another person's mana." Raven said, Rose glanced at him in confusion, didn't he change the matches into needles, and he only smiled as he noted that.

He had learnt with Lori on just how to properly change the objects without his denial of nothingness affecting them. It wasn't that hard either, he just had to ensure he didn't let anything, but wizard magic flow into the spell. However he had also learnt how to make it so people could revert his changes, but that was a headache he wasn't willing to go into. No thank you.

"Don't stop." Raven said as he narrowed his eyes at her as she snapped back to the needles and finished reverting them.

"Good." Raven said as he waved his wand and erased the board once he was sure she wrote everything down.

"That's all, if you need me, don't hesitate to ask." Raven said as he moved to leave the room, idly flipping the switch linked to a rune matrix that would cause a small light to appear outside to note the room was being used.

"Also, next time just say you want to get ahead of your peers Ms. Potter. Ravenclaw first years don't have transfiguration this year till tomorrow morning. Nice attempt though." Raven laughed as he walked out.

Rose went a bit red at being caught.

The next morning, Raven sat in the great hall, Rose was next to him, and he noted people kept staring at the girl. Was she famous?

"You're all annoying. Kindly cease your staring, I would like to eat in peace." Raven said annoyed and everyone glancing in hearing distance froze momentarily before they stopped staring.

The twins cackled at the table next to them.

"People are so annoying." Raven complained with a groan, the twins just cackled louder. "If they keep bothering you, come sit with me." Raven said to Rose before returning to his meal and finishing breakfast before heading out to study in the library. He had a free first period today.
