Chapter 1019: Daoist Sect's Schemes
Zhi Xuan smiled deeply, "In that case, since it is a gift for the Sect Hierarch, please let the Sect Hierarch choose first!"
Hou Niao waved his hand, "Daoist, what you said is wrong. I will go last. How can the host and guest fight over the treasure? Even if nothing is left in the end, I will accept everyone's goodwill!"
Zhi Xuan Daoist laughed heartily, "The Sect Hierarch is noble, a model for us all."
He wasn't worried because he didn't believe a Sword Cultivator had the ability to take away these treasures. Not to mention dozens, even one is impossible.
These treasures, even in the Upper Realm, are top-notch items, each with its spirituality, not just dumb objects to be easily manipulated by others.
Cultivators like these Magic Cultivators carry various treasures, each with different functions: defense, attack, support, with everything being put to good use; but one principle is firm, the Lifebound Treasure can only be one.
The so-called lifebound means the heart and mind are connected, as one body, allowing for perfect synergy in battle and cultivation. It possesses an innate exclusivity, which is necessary to maximize its effectiveness. Therefore, Magic Cultivators often refine the most suitable, powerful, and potential treasure that helps them the most into their Lifebound Treasure and dare not replace it easily unless they advance to a higher realm, then it's possible to change it. Some never change it in their lifetime, valuing its constancy.
The Jinxiu Golden Core Cultivators below each have a Lifebound Treasure, but their Lifebound Treasures are far inferior to these Upper Realm exotic treasures, necessitating a change.
But how can Sword Cultivators change? A Sword Cultivator's Lifebound Treasure is the Flying Sword. If replaced with these magic items, are they still Sword Cultivators?
If they are not allowed as Lifebound Treasures, how could these spiritual treasures possibly follow? To become side pieces?
Therefore, Zhi Xuan Daoist wasn't worried at all that the Sword Sect could take more treasures just because of their numbers. His previous words were merely a tease; the response of the Sect Hierarch Hou was expected by him. Since they couldn't obtain it anyway, they might as well earn everyone's favor by not participating at all, that was the mindset.
With the rules established, everything went smoothly. They aren't novices in the Cultivation World, and such occasions are familiar to them. There are about fifteen hundred qualified Golden Core Cultivators present, neither too many nor too few. If they were to take turns, it wouldn't be solved in a few days, but fortunately, they don't need to go up one by one. Ninety-one treasures, dozens can be compatible at a time.
The difficulty lies in determining which treasure is most suitable for oneself. The opportunity is only once; choosing wrong means no chance to try again.
Some cultivators trusted their instincts, disdainful of hesitation, heading straight for the one that feels right to them, competing with their skills from a hundred zhang away.
There are many methods to acquire spiritual treasures, one of the highest success rates being direct manipulation and spending time refining it, but such a method is clearly inappropriate here; it's akin to robbery.
A distance must be maintained, and magic means cannot be used, nor force or attack.
Only one method remains: the Dao Realm approach, transmitting information to the treasure through the Dao Realm, attempting to establish a mental connection,
Success hinges on this.
The Golden Core Realm Cultivator is in an awkward stage regarding the Dao Realm. Foundation Establishment need not consider the Dao Realm as they can't reach it; Nascent Souls can control some of the Dao Realm, in various depths; only Golden Core Cultivators are stuck in an in-between, neither here nor there, their strength largely depends on their understanding of the Dao Realm.
Take Hou Niao, for instance, his strong combat prowess, aside from his sharp Flying Sword, is also due to his incomparable understanding and accumulation of the Five Elements, which is a fundamental basis.
But the true intention of these Upper Realm treasures' Dao Realm compared to what Jinxiu cultivators possess is much broader. The Jinxiu Continent's Cultivation World remains in basic elements like Five Elements Yin Yang, Pure Yang Power, with little exposure to profound Dao. This makes communication with treasures extremely difficult.
The treasures offered by the envoys from the Upper Realm are indeed miraculous, but there's no such thing as a free lunch in the Cultivation World. Who would sincerely gift their treasure to an unrelated person?
It's merely a ruse to speak of 'fate.'
If something is unachievable or challenging to obtain, it becomes cherished, so even though the Upper Realm envoys appear generous, it's an illusion. To truly obtain them, perhaps not more than thirty percent of the ninety-one items could be acquired.
Especially the dozen or so treasures from the Daoist Sect of The Three Pure Ones, none of their Dao Realm intents are familiar to the Jinxiu people,
such as Zhi Xuan's Yin Yang Umbrella, named Yin Yang, it is actually a trap, its essence being causality, in that call and response.
Lao Du's One-eyed Worldly Banner, seemingly demonstrates annihilation, yet it is actually new reincarnation.
The Five Roots Relics of Yijie Monk appear to be merit, but in truth is impermanence.
And so on.
These so-called Dao realms aren't true Great Dao matters. To a True Monarch Great Cultivation, they might seem laughable, not to mention Great Dao imagination, even minor aspirations seem too high to reach, yet this subtle mysteriousness is exactly what determines whether a treasure recognizes you.
There is nothing easily obtainable. The envoys from the Upper Realm have calculated well, intending to ruin the Sword Sect's grand ceremony while tempting Jinxiu people's admiration, without genuinely offering anything substantial, thus they present their best and most Dao Realm treasures.
The core idea is to let you see but not take, I've been generous, yet it's your lack of ability, who is to blame?
"This scheme is deep!" Hou Niao admired below.
Xiao Zhen Master chuckled, "This is the Daoist Sect's profoundness, you know their intentions, yet you can't help but envy their treasures, with these treasures enticing you, they don't worry about you not following in their steps.
Ninety-one treasures, I think not even thirty percent can be taken, at most twenty percent!"
Hou Niao was curious, "Senior, if you went up there, how many could you take?"
Xiao Zhen Master pondered, "Four or five pieces should be possible, but the best ten or so would be difficult, most likely unreachable; under current rules, if one cannot be obtained, you can't proceed to the next, so I cannot choose the best ones, only starting with those I'm familiar with in Dao Realm."
"What about that fire peacock?"
"I can't handle that thing, it's a completely different approach, I'm unfamiliar with ancient beasts and not well-versed in True Fire…"
Hou Niao scoffed, "Turns out these Three Pure Daoists are generously offering others' generosity, using a brick to lure jade, yet others' jade is lost, while their brick remains… ironically, those fools rush eagerly forward…"
Xiao Zhen Master sighed, "This is the brilliance of the Daoist Sect, it's an open strategy."
Hou Niao suddenly had an idea, "Senior, I think Tianfeng's treasure is quite good, how about you negotiate with him, tell me the key to acquiring it, at least so this big Sect Hierarch like me doesn't go up there to lose face."
Xiao Zhen Master shook his head, "No, you have to ask yourself, I won't do such a faithless thing."
