Chapter 783: Ten Years, Going Home
Knock, knock, knock!
The sound of knocking traveled far down the empty corridor, and after a long pause, a gentle voice came from inside the room.
"Come in."
Carefully closing the door, the girl bowed in greeting.
"Miss Chloe, there's a letter for you, the seal on it appears to be from the palace."
The room wasn't large, the furnishings inside were somewhat old-fashioned. Near the window, Chloe, dressed in a tight Demon Hunter outfit, was supporting her arm as she gazed at the scenery outside.
The distant lake shimmered, the rising sun casting warm imprints upon it.
"Leave it there, I'll look at it later."
The messenger girl hesitated for a moment, but then nodded and carefully retreated.
"Without Emily by my side, there's not even anyone to talk to." After a long moment, Chloe let out a deep sigh, returning to her senses, and ripped open the envelope on the table.
Her brows furrowed slightly, an air of authority emerging, then Chloe chuckled as she shook the letter paper in her hand.
"Such laughable stubbornness. The era has changed, Philip, the decline of the dynasty is inevitable. You want our help, yet you quibble over petty matters even among the nobles."
"Moreover, you still don't understand that Olivia stands with us."
After finishing, a flicker of fire flashed across her hand, turning the letter paper into ashes that fell into the fire basin.
Having done all this, Chloe stood up and left the room.
The corridor was silent, not even the guards on duty or the serving maids were seen.
"Ten years ago, this place was filled with festivities."
"Even though I left not long ago, why does it feel like I've lived a lifetime?"
In the distance, the city bells rang. It was the newly built large clock within the Royal City. Though it was morning, listening to the bell now gave a sense of dusk and fading glory.
Walking out from the castle, Chloe reached the lakeside.
The scenery remained unchanged, only the people were gone.
Lost in thought, she heard footsteps from behind, interrupting her reflections, Chloe's expression darkened slightly.
"Didn't I give orders that no one should approach without my command!"
This was one of the rare times she had lost her temper in recent years.
The footsteps halted, and then a voice engraved in her memory echoed beside her ear.
"Seems I've come at the wrong time; some people aren't very welcoming." Roger said with a smile.
Her body trembled wildly, a complex expression appeared on Chloe's face, yet she still didn't turn around, only replying in an uncertain tone, "Emily, put away those tricks of yours, have you forgotten the lesson from last time?"
For a long, long time, there was no response. Chloe's emotions gradually stabilized, then she took a deep breath and spun around.
The green grass remained, yet her vision was empty.
A huge sense of loss suddenly struck, but the next moment, a broad hand rested on her shoulder.
"Long time no see, Chloe."
The familiar tone, the familiar aura, Chloe could no longer restrain the emotions in her heart, turning to embrace the man before her.
"It's been ten years, I even thought you might never appear again in this life."
"I also didn't expect it to take this long." Roger shook his head with a wry smile.
After leaving the Ancestral Land of the Silver Dragon Clan, and after several turns, he then entered the world where Yield and others were.
With his strong support, the branch base there was quickly established and reached the minimum transmission limit.
After hesitating, Roger still chose to return here, just as he had envisioned, his arrival through the branch base transmission drew no one's attention.
But upon just arriving here, he immediately sensed the difference.
Due to the rupture of the Soul Realm, the transcendent cap of the entire world was drastically lowered, along with the world's energy level dropping once again.
This chaotic state made the time flow here extremely erratic.
In one entry and exit, ten years had passed.
Frankly, Roger was somewhat afraid that if he returned to Kaer Morhen, all he would find was an empty city...
While pondering, a fragrance wafted, and a warm kiss interrupted his thoughts.
"Before you leave, you can't be apart from me for even a moment!"
"I promise." Roger smiled.
Frankly, if he weren't in the region covered by the branch base, his arrival would have caused a significant impact on this low-level world.
He was now truly, unable to go anywhere.
"Come with me!" Chloe said impatiently.
Roger saw the glimmer in her eyes, "Don't forget your identity, don't forget it's still daytime." He laughed while pointing at the sky where the sun was rising.
"What difference does that make?"
"We can keep going... until dark."
Chloe said unceremoniously.
"That's really not a good suggestion." Roger shrugged helplessly.
Speaking of which, I'm already a Fifth Tier Transcendent, why haven't I broken away from the most mundane social activities?
Long, long afterwards...
"Olivia has successfully integrated the entire federation, the conflict between the two major camps is escalating, without the high-ranking ones secretly stirring things up, everything has gone smoother than anticipated."
Chloe leaned against Roger's shoulder, slowly explaining the changes over the last ten years.
"Ox has become the ruler of the underground world, even extending his power to the other side of the coast, this world is larger and more exciting than we imagined."
"And what about you, have you never left here?" Roger asked.
