Chapter 768: It was Fun
Many of the reincarnations of the Strongest Mortal Soul were dying in, and only a few remained. Even some of the top ten strongest could not last long in this battle against the ORIGIN creator of all.
Even those outside fighting against the numerous deities and dragons were dying in droves. Still, nobody stopped and all continued to fight without a break. No one knew how much time had passed since the beginning of the battle, it could be days, months, years, decades, millennia, eons.
Seeing as there was no such thing as time within the Void, nor was there space, existing in this place was already hard enough but fighting continuously was another matter. It was difficult to grasp what was happening especially for the weaker ones.
...
In the dimension were the ORIGIN was sealed the continuous bombardment of the incarnations of the Strongest Mortal Soul had wounded the ORIGIN like never before. The victory of this battle will determine the fate of all things from every universe, every timeline.
Ren who had done his fair deal of damage instead of losing steam from the long continuous battle, was growing stronger by the second.
'I have grown so much stronger than back when I was called a demon lord. This life has been so much better than the last one. I did wonder what happened to that idiot of a son of mine, as well as the generals that followed back then... Heh, this really must be the end since I'm reminiscing about such things.'
Ren chuckled to himself as he blocked another one of the ORIGIN's attacks, it has been some time now since all he could do was block one attack after another. He could no longer hear the symphony of laughter made by the other incarnation of the Strongest Mortal Soul.
Still, despite no longer hearing their laughter he was sure that some of them were still alive, especially the original incarnation. Even if all of them died Ren believed that the original incarnation would be able to survive.
Ren discarded all the useless thoughts in his mind and focused solely on the battle in front of him. Unknown to him all of the remaining incarnations of the Strongest Mortal Soul had the same thought almost at the exact same time.
Ren's spirit soared even in the face of overwhelming odds. Each clash with the ORIGIN sent ripples through the Void, and the energy sparked something deep within him. He had once been a demon lord, feared and reviled, but now he fought not just for himself, but for the countless lives that hung in the balance. The thrill of battle surged through his veins like fire, invigorating him with every parry and strike.
As Ren redirected another attack, he could somehow hear the cries of another multiverse being destroyed. Even in this other dimension that was separate from any reality created by the ORIGIN, their battle could still affect those outside the dimension.
The overwhelming indescribable power of the ORIGIN was unbelievable, but it was in these moments that Ren felt truly alive. He relished the challenge, the way it demanded everything he had, which relieved his boredom.
"HAHAHAHA!!! This is so much fun!"
Ren who was gaining momentum was no longer just blocking each attack he was slowly moving forward toward the ORIGIN. The closer he got to the ORIGIN the stronger the attacks became.
Ren's beloved Broadsword Snertal roared alongside him as they pushed forward. Snertal the sword created from the remains of an Ancient Dragon had grown stronger alongside Ren, the more battle they had the stronger the Snertal became. The two were now fighting as one as they recklessly approached the ORIGIN.
The Void trembled with each swing of Ren's broadsword, Snertal, its roar echoing like a war cry through the endless nothingness. As they pressed forward, every step felt like a defiance against the very fabric of despair that surrounded them. The ORIGIN, a being of incomprehensible power, lashed out with attacks that could shatter realities, yet Ren met each blow with fierce determination.
Memories of his time as a demon lord flashed before his eyes, and then the memories he made when he became human came flashing before his very eyes as well.
The time he spent as a human was nowhere near the time he spent as a demon lord, but it was an exhilarating journey. He had wed many women, he had sired many children, he had saved numerous lives, he had killed numerous foes, and he had journeyed out of his hometown to the wider world to even different universes until he finally reached this grand final battle. An epic that will never be known and forgotten by those who were here.
Ren showed the vicious grin that all incarnations of the Strongest Mortal Soul were known for. This smile of his was the most vicious-looking he had ever shown. Ren who had parried all attacks perfectly was now getting damaged here and there, as he could no longer block the attacks perfectly. In fact, right now instead of being able to step forward, he was being pushed backward.
"Nice! If you don't show me this much, then it would become boring!"
Ren shouted at the top of his lungs as he gripped Snertal tighter. With renewed vigor, Ren's swordsmanship had once again improved as he continued walking forward.
The wounds on Ren's body were accumulating and his body which had incredible regeneration abilities was not healing. Not only that despite Ren getting stronger, but his stamina was being depleted faster than before the only reason he was still standing was simply because of his willpower.
This has been the longest battle Ren has ever had. Ren hadn't noticed it yet because of the excitement he was feeling but his breathing was becoming heavier and even though his movements were getting better, faster, stronger, and sharper, his body needed a break to adapt to his newfound powers. Unfortunately, he could not stop for even a nanosecond or it would mean existence erasure.
The pain from his wounds was eclipsed by an exhilaration he hadn't felt for a very long time, a reckless joy that had long been buried under layers of his past.
Ren had continuously parried each attack while gaining a single step forward. He did not know for how long he walked but he finally arrived at a distance where he could strike the ORIGIN.
Now that he was so close Ren wanted to deliver a critical blow, but as he tried to gather enough energy he finally noticed the state his body was in. Not to mention delivering a critical blow it was surprising that he was even able to stand with the condition he was in. Ren who continuously parried each attack coming his way gritted his teeth in frustration.
'Come on body don't give in like this! I can't end my final battle in such a way! This is the last time, do it! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!' Ren was internally screaming at his body.
...
The ORIGIN who was fighting the numerous incarnations of the Strongest Mortal Soul suddenly felt a sense of foreboding. He knew that each of these children of his had the potential to end him, and he did feel danger every now and then, but it wasn't as strong as the feeling he was having now.
There were only a few incarnations left, and the ones left were obviously the strongest among the others. Not only did you need immense strength and endurance to survive up to this point but you also needed an immeasurable amount of luck.
'Which one among them is giving me this feeling, is it the first one?'
The ORIGIN scanned the remaining incarnations of the Strongest Mortal Soul, the first one he looked at was the original.
The ORIGIN did feel a dangerous aura from the original but that was the same with the other incarnations, it wasn't the same feeling. The ORIGIN shifted his gaze at the other incarnations but he could no longer sense that odious feeling he had before.
'Was it a mistake?'
Under normal circumstances, the ORIGIN would never make a mistake but when you add any incarnation of the Strongest Mortal Soul, making a mistake was normal. As he was having doubts, it was at that moment that the ORIGIN heard the voice of one of the incarnations.
"Snertal! Let us roar!"
The roar of a dragon and a human echoed through the battlefield expressing their might. The ORIGIN shifted most of his attention to Ren who had roared. It was then he realized that ominous feeling he had before was coming from this incarnation of the Strongest Mortal Soul.
A strike like no other was about to reach the ORIGIN. The ORIGIN felt the core of his being was threatened and unleashed its full might focused on Ren. The ORIGIN did not care that the intensity of attacks on the other incarnations had lessened greatly, right now he needed to eliminate the threat of Ren coming toward him.
The energy crackled around Ren as he summoned every last ounce of strength, channeling the bond with Snertal into a singular, devastating strike. The sword, now pulsating with power and an ancient fury, glowed fiercely, responding to Ren's indomitable spirit.
Ren ignored his body which was screaming in pain as he raised his sword upward. Ren no longer bothered avoiding or blocking the ORIGIN's attacks as he concentrated everything on this last attack he would ever make.
Ren poured everything into this strike his very essence, his memories, his feelings, and his very path were placed into his beloved sword Snertal.
With a roar that blended the might of a dragon and the fury of a warrior, Ren swung Snertal down, unleashing a wave of energy that rippled through the fabric of existence. This was no ordinary strike; it was the culmination of every battle he had fought, every sacrifice he had made and every life he had touched.
As the blade descended, a brilliant light erupted from Snertal, illuminating the dark expanse of this sealed dimension.
Ren felt every wound on his body, every ounce of fatigue, but at that moment, it was all eclipsed by the fire of his exhilaration. The attack that Ren poured his everything into had reached the ORIGIN.
The power of this strike shook the ORIGIN's very core, if Ren was able to unleash a few more of those kinds of attacks then the ORIGIN might have truly fallen, but unfortunately, Ren could no longer do anything.
Ren's powerful body, no his very existence was fading. The same as with the other incarnations of the Strongest Mortal Soul, as he was dying Ren laughed happily as he smiled that vicious-looking smile of his. The memories of his two lives once again flashed before his eyes for the last time.
"Heh, it was fun." Ren turned his fading body towards the ORIGIN and spoke his final words. "Thanks for the battle."
Thus the story of the bored demon lord who turned into a human ended.
