Demon Lord's Reincarnation

Chapter 723: I shall grant you courage

Frieda and her group alongside the dragons waited for Erste in the designated meeting place. It had been several days now since they waited but Erste had not appeared.

"That guy must have died." Blod once again said what he kept on saying for the past few days.

"I keep on telling you that is impossible. Since we were able to escape then so could Erste. That guy has faced impossible odds and won with a smile on his face. There is no way that that guy would just go up and die!" Frieda shouted at Blod.

"I understand how you feel, but even we and my brothers would have difficulty escaping from the personification of Death itself. There's also the fact that we must deliver the heart of our Mother back to her." Skatt told them his opinion.

"I understand your thoughts, I too don't wish to believe that Erste would lose, but... Even if he was alive we need to go to meet our Mother. If the other Ancient Ones learn that we took back our mother's heart they will try to find us. If they spare no effort to locate our positions they will eventually find us.

So the safest move is to head to the dimension where our Mother rests." Tenma tried persuading the others.

"Hmph, you stinky lizards! Without Erste's help, you guys wouldn't even be able to take hold of your mother's heart. If you want to leave then you better leave!" Sayaka who just lost two of her companions could not hold it in and shouted as she pointed at the dragons.

"If we could we would have already, but if we left you here Mother will not like it." Blod nearly roared.

"Then can you please quiet down and wait patiently." Schlau who has been silent finally spoke.

"... Fine, if that is what you wish, but if an enemy appears I will take you three and forcefully bring you to our Mother's dimension." Skatt compromised and the other dragons had no choice but to agree.

The group waited in silence, and when Blod was about to explode again in anger he and the others felt a familiar presence alongside another familiar presence.

"Did that guy lead Death here!"

The familiar presence they felt was Erste's but there was also the presence of Death. A portal appeared in front of the group who were preparing to face the enemy.

"Hey, you guys are still here." Erste appeared in front of the group.

"Erste where is he where is the Ancient One?"

The group scanned the area but could not see the Ancient One, but they still felt the power of Death all around. At this moment, both Skatt and Shclau realized what had happened, the former showing a look of surprise while the latter had a faint smile on his face.

"Are you talking about Ractopictan, well I killed him and stole his authority."

"You were actually able to kill that monster!" Frieda spoke surprised, she had seen how powerful Ractopictan was, and even with all of them together fought it was barely a battle.

"How were you able to win?"

"... I killed him but I didn't say I won, that can't be called a win since I cheated." Erste gnashed his teeth in frustration as he knew that the thing that irritated him the most was watching him now.

"What do you mean?"

"I don't want to talk about it," As he spoke Erste started emitting a deadly aura that made even the Dragons feel restless. Seeing that everyone became silent Erste spoke again with a slight smile on his face.

"Come on let's go and give back that heart." Erste opened another portal and entered. The others also followed behind him.

...

Mitera who was waiting for the return of the group of humans was focusing on strengthening herself. She had a feeling that something big was about to happen, and her current strength might not be enough. All of this was because of her promise to the human called Erste.

Even though many of her children had already failed to bring her heart back, Mitera felt that this group of humans could do it.

The reason she felt that way was because of that one powerful human Erste, despite not being at the same level as her, even in her weakened state she sensed so much potential coming from Erste. Unlike the current Dragons Erste seems more like a Dragon.

'It's like one of my children turned into a human.'

Mitera smiled at the thought. It had been eons since she met someone so interesting. The last time was also a human child, back then humanity had nothing and was cold and shivering in the darkness. That human came to her and looked her in the eye without any fear. Even Ancient Ones would tremble in her presence, but this human full of determination spoke to her without an ounce of dread.

Mitera gave that human woman knowledge on how to speak in her tongue and once the human understood how to talk she quickly asked Mitera for something.

"I beg of you mighty being to help me and my people. They are afraid of the darkness and they need hope so please can you give us anything to dispel the darkness? Of course, I do not ask you to give it for free, I will repay you. If not me then someday one of my descendants will repay you."

"Very well child, I shall grant you and your people the courage to face the darkness." It was on that day Mitera gave humans that gift of fire.

...

It has been eons since that day and humans have progressed wonderfully from beings that had nothing to beings that could create anything, even miracles. Mitera sensed the opening of a portal to her realm, and she could not help but chuckle.

"To think that the courage I gave to her that day would result in this."

The person who came out of the portal had a confident smile on his face his entire being seemed to exude victory.

'It seems that your descendants have given more than enough as repayment. I may have given humanity courage, but your descendants have given me hope.'
