Chapter 697: 117. Sorrow of the Soul (8k)_3

"Here it comes, Fisher!"

Bijale's warning was even faster, and Fisher suddenly drew his Fluid Sword from his bosom. The next moment, those viscous droplets of blood seemed drawn to Fisher in the center of the room, assaulting him with a speed that made his eardrums throb. Fisher's eyeballs trembled rapidly as he watched the illusion of Caleb Wuz being pierced by the blood, which slowed down his step.

By the time the illusion of Caleb Wuz vanished, a fast-moving droplet of blood had struck him in the back,

"Sizzling!"

The Magic Rings on Fisher's hand suddenly lit up, wrapping him in an electric current like a serpent. He clutched his back, his eyes quickly twitching past each droplet of blood dancing in the air. Each droplet reflected his blurry face, and his contorted yet robust soul gave him excellent soul perception abilities. Then, the next moment, his gaze suddenly fixated on a droplet of blood in the corner of the room.

There lay Erwin's consciousness. He was hiding there!

"Go now, Fisher; he's over there!"

The whispering voice of Caleb Wuz at his ear instantly vanished, to be replaced first by the magnetic voice of Philone, and then not just Philone's but many voices of different genders and ages whispering simultaneously...

"Capture his soul... Fast, Fisher... Your soul needs him..."

The excessive consumption of magic power led to intensified hallucinations, yet the undeniable desire for a strong offensive drove him suddenly toward the droplet of blood in the corner of the room.

"Boom!"

That blood rapidly expanded midair and finally morphed into the figure of a blood-fleshed giant. Erwin too extended his fist to meet Fisher's knuckles, but he quickly felt a tremendous force hurl him out of the hotel. The misty snow fog outside was confusing, but Fisher still saw him falling from the second story, crashing into a shop opposite the hotel, causing it to collapse.

This punch that truly hit its target gave Fisher a feeling of exhilaration. He looked down at his palm to find a murky Magic Power there, tainting his already twisted Magic Circuit. Moreover, his soul continued to devour Erwin's Magic Power, attempting to assimilate it as a part of himself...

This sudden scare chilled the overly excited Fisher to the bone. He gasped in a cold breath and hurriedly controlled the Magic Power to expel Erwin's from his body. However, this process was extremely difficult, as his reason and soul grappled with one another, neither willing to give up.

Fortunately, this bit of soul wasn't much, and after much effort, Fisher eventually succeeded in expelling Erwin's Magic Power from his body.

His own soul, was it subconsciously absorbing others' souls?

"Clap, clap, clap!"

It was then that a series of applause came from behind him in the room. Turning his head, he saw Caleb Wuz, Philone, and many indistinct figures standing in the room, looking at him while softly clapping their hands.

"Congratulations..."

"That's right, just like that..."

"You've already begun to sense the mystery of souls, Fisher."

Caleb Wuz, standing at the front, was the first to speak. He stepped forward and patted Fisher's shoulder, the bald top of his head reflecting the white light from outside. He smiled and said,

"The soul originates from the eternal swirling murk of consciousness in the Spirit Realm. The closer you approach that state, the closer you get to the essence of souls, the stronger you feel the call of the Truth of souls. A person's soul and consciousness, even if it reaches the Mythical Species, is still frail. Without witnessing the turbid consciousness that stirs the fundamentals of the world in the Spirit Realm, you can't comprehend such immense power..."

"But we can take it slow, you've made a good start, Fisher."

Fisher, panting, gave a cold look and kicked hard at Caleb Wuz in front of him. This full-force blow, carrying a huge rush of air, directly breached the gap between the room and the hallway, conveying countless debris to the other side of the hotel, leading to the gradual collapse and crumbling of the other side of the hotel...

"Get lost, you bunch of lunatics..."

Caleb Wuz, Philone, and the shadowy figures behind all vanished, and Fisher closed his eyes to catch his breath for a second, then turned his head towards the hotel below. The violent winds from the Sema Snow Mountain in the north suddenly roared, and a shadow too elusive for the naked eye spread its massive wings, swooping towards Mia's district.

Many citizens who wanted to see what Fisher had punched flying suddenly felt an intense itching all over,

"Hisss, such itching... What is it, feathers?"

They kept scratching their necks until they drew fresh red streaks of blood, from which they pulled out growing black feathers. Fisher's face changed color, and standing on the brink of the collapsing hotel, he turned to look in the direction of the Snow Mountain. Through the vision of the Spirit Realm, he saw a curse entity with a body covered in pitch-black feathers and a head topped with countless eyes, hurtling towards them.

And the target was...

Fisher turned his head towards the direction of the street, only to see Valentina being escorted by Heidlin, covering her bleeding finger as she retreated. Even as Heidlin pushed her away from the scene, she still turned her head back towards the hotel, shouting at the others,
