Delayed Transfer

“One day a month wouldn’t be enough. You will have to give us more time. I’m thinking that five days will allow us to schedule a demonstration of your abilities and at the same time we can use tools to check how the abilities were generated,” The woman named Donna Ebignon who was a major in the army said.

“No. I can do the demonstration for four hours in the morning and conduct a healing session for you for four hours in the afternoon.” Mark said.

“That is unacceptable,” The other major, Major Dennis Pullman said.

“Then there’s nothing for us to talk about,” Mark said.

He then cast Teleportation and teleported out of the building, cast Fly, and flew back towards where Donald’s mansion which they were using as a safe house was located. He teleported inside where the Warp Gate was established, and returned to Veltun.

Mark wasn’t really that offended. He was just demonstrating that he could disappear on them anytime he wanted. He would of course return probably after a couple of days then he would communicate with the government again.

There was a chance that that move would trigger the government to become hostile with him and would try to capture him but to be frank, he wasn’t afraid. He didn’t need to stay on Earth and just visit it once in a while and if for some reason, his friends and their family would be targeted, he would deal with it then.

Mark thought that it was more likely that because he claimed a lot of unbelievable things, the government would still try to remain amicable with him and would negotiate with him again.

It was noon when he returned to the circus and Mark saw that everyone was there eating lunch that was cooked by Milena.

“Thanks, Milena for taking care of my friends,” Mark told.

“Of course, it’s not a problem. Your friends had been extremely generous with us when we visited your planet so it’s only right that it should be reciprocated.”

When Mark’s friends saw him, they called him. They were still eating the lunch that Milena had prepared. The twins, Liriel, Albert, and Deo were playing using the drone they purchased from Earth.

When the twins and Liriel noticed Mark, they all ran towards him and hugged him. Sam and the others who returned from their dungeon dive to eat lunch noticed him as well and Armina and Melissa looked envious that he was welcomed enthusiastically by the twins and Liriel.

He joined them in eating lunch then Donald and Robert asked him what happened with his talks with the government.

“I met a bunch of important people like officials, scientists, and majors from the army. I told them that I was willing to be humiliated for one day a month by the government, meaning I would do a live demonstration of my powers, heal whoever they wanted me to heal, and subject myself to be experimented on all in the name of contributing to the country and as long as the experimentation didn’t violate any moral laws like cloning or producing children based on my semen or DNA. A couple of the officers from the army protested and said that one day a month isn’t enough so as a demonstration of my ability, I teleported out of there and flew back to the Warp Gate that I made inside the mansion that Donald chose as our safehouse. I will let them stew for a couple of days and return to talk to them again,” Mark said.

“Will they not react negatively to how you acted? Maybe the next time you go there, they will capture you,” Blake said.

“The scientists in the group that I met were nerds and showed a video clip of the wizard character casting all of his spells in the game Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara. I then confirmed all the spells that they had seen the wizard cast, I can cast as well so they now had an inkling of what I’m capable of. I’m guessing that that would be enough for them to be tempted to remain in a good relationship with me since learning even a bit of my power was going to be hugely beneficial for everyone involved.”

“I think we still need to prepare that we may be targeted as well,” Sam said.

“I apologize for that,” Mark said.

“No need for you to say that. Even if something extremely bad happened with the government, I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s a privilege that you let me be part of your magical journey and I think that once we reach a high enough level, we will have the capabilities to contend with anyone,” Enleed said.

Mark saw that everyone agreed with Enleed and that relieved him a bit but he was still hoping that his immature act of disappearing from the meeting wouldn’t result in something so extreme. He promised himself that he would act more maturely in his communication with the government.

“What are you planning to do this afternoon?” Mark asked everyone.

“Sam told us that gun works but killing monsters with it wouldn’t allow us to level up but we still planned to bring some with us when we dive for emergency purposes. We also purchased spells that we think we will need thanks to Hamil trading with us so we’re also going to dive into the dungeon this afternoon. Our group would consist of me, Donald, Elizabeth, Danielle, and Albert,” Robert said to him.

“Sam also told us that the advantage of leveling up was so great that we shouldn’t wait long. He mentioned that any addition to the Vitality stats would allow us to live longer. Did you know that Hamil is already 154 years old?” Donald asked.

“I know about the Vitality stat but I didn’t know Hamil’s exact age. I’m aware though that most adults here in the circus are far older than what they appear to be,” Mark answered.

“I’m 180,” Milena suddenly said and Elizabeth and Danielle’s eyes grew wide when they heard that.

Milena looked like 20 years younger than they were. Mark could see that any hesitation about dungeon diving because of how scary they could be disappeared from Donald and Robert’s wives’ eyes.

“Mark! Deo said that you’re an archmage and the most powerful wizard in the circus!” Albert suddenly said.

“I don’t actually know my magical rank but I’m very powerful. Please remember that I haven’t been in this world for long so I’m still not aware of some of the intricacies that govern the culture and the magic of this world,” Mark told Albert.

“Deo said that it was because you can summon Yoda and that you can fly and can travel between dimensions. I can’t wait to become an archmage!” Albert said looking excited at the prospect of wielding unimaginable powers.

“It’s the reason why we didn’t invite him to join our party. It’s going to be boring if the dive doesn’t have any challenge because an overpowered person is beside you,” Sam mentioned and Albert nodded trying to look wise which just made Robert and Danielle smile.

“it’s about time for us to leave and go to Narcone. Wish us luck!” Robert said.

Mark saw that some of them were carrying what looked like camping bags.

“Why are you carrying those? I gave you some storage items right and if you need more, you can always purchase spatial items from the magic stores here,” Mark told Robert.

“We planned to do that but the mana stones that we earned from trading were just enough for us to purchase spells. Donald and I also agreed that it would be better for us to earn the mana stones manually from the dungeon instead of trading for them,” Robert said and even though Mark didn’t understand, he just nodded.

Donald and Robert were extremely wealthy old men from Earth and were used to extravagance. He didn’t know why they wanted to rough it out in the dungeon but to each his own. Mark would not stop them from experiencing their adventure their own way.
