Death System: I awakened SSS rank System

Chapter 37: The Story Of the Waste Land

"So you wanted to discuss?" Zakar asked as he found himself in a wide vicinity. His eyes ran over the place. It seemed to hold up more objects that he didn't know.

"Yeah." Kyara muttered lavishly and sat on a fancy seat. Kenry and Carene walked over to take their seats behind her.

"You know we are very friendly considering how we know this thing works." Kyara said almost too joyful about it.

"Knowing how what works. You haven't even said a damn thing and you are whining about generosity?!" Zakar exclaimed a bit infuriated.

"Let's go straight down to business." Kenry said and pulled out a strange object. Zakar stared at him in shock.

It had a light bulb that projected visibly over a long metal. Besides that it was surrounded by a thin circular panel. The bulb was only floating over the metal and the panel revolved round it endlessly.

"What's that?"

"Oh! This! It's nothing. Wait until I show you." he muttered almost too calm to believe it was him.

Suddenly it glowed sharply sending a cascading ray of light. Zakar coveted his face with his arm and waited for the energy to dim before he looked again.

"What was that?" Zakar rushed in.

"You have never seen anything like it before? Yah. Ok. This is called Reflect Dome." Kenry lectured.

"It is specially used to measure the amount of mana one has in his system. Its pretty handy and it costs fortunes." Kenry lamented lamely.

"So... what does that have to do with what you want to discuss?' Zakar asked faintly. He could not tell why they seemed to be different. Probably because they were S ranks.

"Well Zakar, you will have to us a favour. Just place your hand on that orb and that would do." Carene said and Zakar stared at her sharply.

"Really? You want to measure my mana? Not a chance. I don't know why I followed you in here. Could you just go with the discussion and forget about that? I'm a D rank. There's nothing there to measure." Zakar said firmly.

"Oh my?! Come on! Quit lying or you will do this the hard way. Get your filthy hands on the damn orb." Kyara muttered.

"Hmm. You know when we first met I actually thought you were some kind of weak vessel as they do call women. But the way you spoke countered that. You are one authoritative kind." Zakar noted.

"I know that. Now like I said earlier you are lucky we are going to slow way. If not we would have has you begging before now." Kyara said smoothly.

"Is that so? You are one tricky one. Ok. So you do this all the time? How pomg have you been here? I've been wondering if their were some older players. Some kind different from the Guides and I think my suspicion was correct. You have been here longer than these players.

When General Lemon came in, he made mention of him being in charge of this set's recruit. So what's the deal with these acts of yours? If you answer my question honestly, I think I can to what you tell me." Zakar said and crossed his legs.

"Are you serious?! I will end you now! Flame—" Kyara raises her hands and that silenced Kenry for the moment.

"Killing him would not be a good option." she said faintly. Zakar smirked.

'Just as I thought. For some reason they need my hand to be there by my own violation. If they could force me into doing it, they would have done it long before now.'

"Ok then. You must keep to your promise." she said and stared at Zakar.

"Yah. Just come in clean."

"This place is purgatory. It's a world built with enormous amount of mana and crazy stuffs. You players are only sent here to hunt the demons down. But is that all?" she asked rhetorically.

"No. Well this world is somewhat connected to Earth. And it is God's wish that this world is completely trampled upon to avoid it exploding all the demons into Earth."

"So you are saying that this world is connected to Earth? If so there is a way to get back to it?"

"Yes but that's not the problem. Every time players are recruited into the Waste Land, some infiltrators filter in and that gets the plan all messy."

"Huh!?.."

"These people proclaim their loyalty to only one being— The Demon King. Well you would wonder how this has to do with the story but here is the thing.

Among these players is a Negative entity. One that would corrupt others and grow. Most times it ends up summoning up our entire players and with that our job skacks off for some decades before we have enough mana and exploring to channel the dead here."

"Quite impressive,so you people are the ones who bring us here? And from the way you refer to we players as 'us', are you guys players or Guides?" Zakar asked quietly.

"Very observant of you. We are not Players and neither are we Guides. We are nothing but Tailors. We sow threads of reality and which brings me to what we are doing now."

"We usually conduct exams for potential candidates who are bright and powerful. The solid essence is to make sure we capture the powerful plaers before the Negative entity gets them."

"As you may understand, the Negative entity is gathering as much army as it can. We anticipate that it would one day strike and when it does we have to be prepared."

'So what!? The Negative entity? What's with all these? Why the fuck would someone want to destroy Earth? Wait..'

Then he remembered the letter he had been given. If everything was just as he thought, then that meant, Melissa and Horis were agents of the Negative entity.

"So what do you say? You are going to do it right?"

Zakar turned to stare at them. His eyes sparked with precision.

"Yah I will."
