DEATH NOTE:NOTE OF DEATH

Chapter 9: ch9

Looking at the scenery outside the car window rapidly receding and trying hard to suppress the feeling of churning in my stomach, Lucy once again made me refresh my view of her. From a vase in the past to a crazy woman now, anyone who has nothing to do will install two engines on his or her own car.

"Chief Carter, Captain Alex. Are you okay?" Lucy looked at me and Alex with a smile, as if telling us how embarrassed two grown men were.

"Mmmmm..." Alex covered his mouth and waved randomly towards the front.

That means he's fine. I'm not sure if he wasn't on a mission he wouldn't have just stuck his head out the window and vomited. Too cruel. This feeling is even more exciting than when we were sneaking around in the corner before.

After he was sure that no one was catching up and the car slowed down, Alex took a deep breath and turned to look at me. He asked me, "Are you sure the murderer is the person in the flower shop?"

Alex's eyes were full of questions.

Shaking my head, I said, "I'm not sure either, but at least, this flower shop is highly suspicious."

"In other words, that plant is highly suspicious."

As I said this, I took out the green leaf from my pocket, and my mind was spinning. It would take some testing to determine whether this green leaf was the same plant that appeared in the body of the deceased. I dare not draw a conclusion.

And the blurry black shadow I saw through the car window in the dark night before was so similar to the mysterious man in black that I saw through telepathy. It's like they are the same person... or rather, they are the same person. However, there is no evidence to prove it, it is just a suspicion, and he cannot even be treated as a suspect.

"Then you ask me, do I want to see the murderer's face?" Alex rolled his eyes at me and turned his head away.

"If I didn't say that, would you accompany me?"

Hearing what I said, Alex's face twitched, and he looked at Lucy who was driving the car, and cursed, "Remove your engine next time!"

"Why don't you take my car next time?"

Lucy laughed and quickened his pace. Alex lost his balance and fell directly onto the back of the passenger seat. He looked very embarrassed. Just as he was about to say something, he opened the window and started vomiting. Crazy woman!

Looking at the two of them, I shook my head and took a deep breath of the cold air coming in through the window. My mind was working at high speed. It was painful and tormenting. This is the problem brought about by synesthesia. While it helps me find clues, it also tortures me constantly...

It allowed me to see the deceased's appearance and sadness when he died, as if I was experiencing it myself. This feeling reminds me all the time that I must find the murderer. Many times, I wonder if I am depressed. Compared to Lucy's madness, I am more like a pathological lunatic.

When I got back to the police station, I went straight to the autopsy room, took out the beggar's body and placed it on the dissecting table. In addition to the scalpel, there was also the unknown flower leaf and green leaves placed on the tray on the side.

"Don't bother me."

I immediately ordered them to leave. After Alex and Lucy walked out of the autopsy room, I closed the door and locked myself together with the deceased.

The beggar's body had begun to shrivel up, and the plants that had grown out of his pores had completely died after being exposed to the low temperature in the cold room. The beggar had been dead for less than three days, and it was impossible for the water in his body to be lost so quickly. Is it that plant?

Thinking of this, I looked directly at the leaves and petals placed aside, then took a deep breath, held the scalpel in my hand, and cut the wound that the beggar had already sutured. My movements were very gentle and careful, for fear of missing any details.

Having dealt with corpses for many years and dissected hundreds of corpses, this was the first time I discovered that the time of death was so short that no blood could be seen after the scalpel was inserted. The scalpel went through the flesh and blood, and when I took it out, I could still see the scalpel glowing white under the light, so clean.

There were tender sprouts in the flesh and blood of the corpse. In order to preserve the integrity of the corpse, I did not choose to remove the plants growing in the corpse. This mysterious plant has already shown signs of withering, and some have dried up when they were still tender buds. However, some of the plants are still alive, and some are even continuing to sprout.

I took the tweezers, slowly picked off a leaf and put it aside, then quickly took the microscope and placed the two tender leaves together.

"Yes." I exclaimed in surprise.

But soon, I shook my head again, trying to confirm whether they belonged to the same plant. I couldn't tell, not even with a microscope. Even with just a simple comparison, I can be 90% sure.

After putting the two green leaves into sealed bags respectively, I sat on a chair at the side and rubbed my temples hard. I was about to light a cigarette, but when I remembered that this was an autopsy room, I stopped my hand holding the cigarette, took a deep breath, and walked out of the autopsy room.

"What did you find?"

As soon as I walked out of the door, Alex came to meet me, followed by Lucy with two dark circles under her eyes.

"We have to wait until tomorrow. It's so late now, the laboratory has already closed. I can't be sure now, I can only give a rough conclusion."

"Just tell me, are you trying to keep me in suspense?" Alex cursed and looked at me anxiously.

He was also very stressed out by this case and hadn't had a good night's sleep in the past few days. Now when he heard what I said, he became a little anxious.

"It can be roughly confirmed that this is the same plant. Based on the previous blood samples, it can be confirmed that the four dead people are related. If it can be confirmed that the green leaves I picked are the same as the plants growing in the bodies of the dead people..."

"So that means..." Lucy took over my words and said seriously, "We can confirm that the suspect is in that flower shop!"

I looked at Lucy without commenting and frowned. "Take care of yourself first. The test results of the soil sample I asked you to take before have come out. I want to confirm and eliminate all the factors while we have time."

Lucy glared at me, somewhat reluctantly, but seeing my serious face, she said "oh" and walked towards the laboratory to look through the previous information.

"Ryan, tell me the truth. Do you know something?" Alex looked at me.

"If I knew something, would the murderer still be alive outside?" I raised my eyebrows at Alex.

"You've been acting a little strange these past few days. There are some things I don't want to ask, and I don't want to know, but if there is something, tell me. I can feel that your mental state is very bad. If you continue like this, you will go crazy." Alex's tone was earnest and his face was serious.

"Don't you think that someone like me is already a lunatic?"

Contact with things that ordinary people cannot contact with, see what ordinary people cannot see, and experience the nightmares experienced by the dead.

Am I not a lunatic?
