Chapter 1695: Lilith’s Proposal 2
Alex and Lilith continued their disguised adventure through Noctra, experiencing the vibrant, chaotic, and strangely beautiful world of the Demon Realm's greatest city.
After leaving the underground fighting pits, where Alex had watched an ogre-like demon get thrown across the arena by a smaller but far deadlier shadow fiend, they stumbled upon an ancient-looking shop.
The store was small, hidden between two larger buildings, its door marked only by a glowing sigil that pulsed with strange energy. Inside, the air smelled of aged parchment, incense, and something faintly metallic—perhaps blood.
An elderly, cloaked demon ran the shop, his six red eyes glinting with wisdom. He greeted them with a raspy chuckle.
"Travelers, are you looking for something… unique?"
Alex browsed through enchanted rings, ancient scrolls, and forgotten artifacts, sensing the weight of history and power lingering in each.
Lilith found a mirror of Illusions, capable of showing alternate versions of oneself. She laughed as she watched her reflection morph into different versions of herself—one with black horns, another wearing golden armor, and even one with fox ears.
Alex, on the other hand, picked up a crimson coin with unknown symbols etched onto its surface. The moment his fingers brushed against it, he felt a faint pull in his soul.
The shopkeeper's smile widened. "Ah… that one. A coin of destiny. Flip it, and fate itself may shift."
He glanced at Lilith, who looked equally intrigued.
"Maybe later," Alex muttered, slipping it into his pocket before they left.
Lilith then led Alex to one of Noctra's hidden marvels—the Floating Gardens of Erelith.
Massive, enchanted stone platforms hovered in the air, linked by thin bridges of woven magic. Exotic demon flora, with petals that glowed like fireflies, vines that shimmered in the darkness, and trees with sapphire-colored leaves, covered the platforms.
They walked across a particularly narrow bridge, with the city stretching below them, hundreds of meters down. A gust of wind nearly sent Lilith's cloak fluttering away.
She smirked. "Scared of heights, Alex?"
He raised an eyebrow. "Says the one gripping my arm."
Lilith scoffed but didn't let go. Together, they reached the highest platform, where a giant silver tree stood. From its branches, thousands of tiny light orbs drifted like floating stars.
"Beautiful," Lilith murmured.
Alex watched her, instead of the scenery.
"Yeah. It is."
As the sun began to dip, casting long shadows over the city, they made their way to Noctra's most famous entertainment venue—the Shadowveil Theater.
Unlike human theaters, this one used illusion magic and dark spirits to create performances unlike anything in the mortal realm. Demonic actors told stories of ancient wars, forbidden romances, and lost civilizations, their forms shifting between shadows and substance as they danced across the grand stage.
One particular play, The Tragedy of the Crimson Moon, caught Alex's interest.
It told the story of a demon prince and a celestial goddess, doomed to love each other but forever separated by fate. In the end, the prince sacrificed himself to become the crimson moon, watching over his beloved for eternity.
Lilith, sensing Alex's deep thoughts, leaned in. "Does this remind you of something?"
He smirked. "Not really. I don't do tragic endings."
She chuckled. "Good. Neither do I."
By the time they left the theater, the sky had darkened, the crimson glow of the demon sun fading into deep twilight.
Hand-in-hand, they teleported back to Lilith's private garden, where the air was once again filled with the soft scent of night-blooming demon flowers.
Lilith stretched, letting out a satisfied sigh.
"That was fun."
Alex nodded, removing his cloak and tossing it onto a nearby black marble bench.
"It was," he admitted. "I almost forgot we were supposed to be rulers."
She smirked. "Maybe we should do this more often."
He met her gaze, a playful glint in his eyes.
"Careful, Lilith. I might start thinking you enjoy my company."
She rolled her eyes but didn't deny it. Instead, she waved her hand, summoning a table of fine demon wine and exotic fruits.
"Come on," she said, sitting down on the bench. "Let's drink a little before you return to your fortress."
Alex smirked and took a seat beside her, taking the offered glass of dark crimson wine.
As they drank beneath the silver glow of the demon moon, the night felt calm, peaceful. A rare moment for two beings who were always caught in the chaos of war and power.
For now, they simply enjoyed the silence.
After the momentary silence Alex sighed, looking straight at Lilith in the eyes, it was right he had enjoyed a great time with her but knowing her she wasn't the time to do something like this without reason so it was the time to learn what her goal was.
''So tell me why you wanted to see me and did all you did?"
Lilith sighed and her previous playful face disappeared, returning to her usual expressionless face.
''I'll be direct, I want to become your woman.''
''Huh?" Alex's expression upon hearing those words were priceless, meanwhile Silveria was shocked as well. Only Nyx in her dimension, sitting on her regal black throne wasn't shocked, on the contrary she appeared pleased by Lilith's proposal.
[Say what you bitch?]
More than shocked she was fuming, she felt like a thieving cat was about to snatch something belonging to her. She knew she was reacting like this because of jealousy.
Jealousy is often an expression of insecurity and thus its fixing requires internal reflection and addressing matters of self esteem.
[Ah! I gotta control myself, he already have more than seven, another one will not change anything. She must have her reason for declaring so shamelessly.] Silveria convinced herself and waited for the discussion to continue.
Back to the real world,
Observing Lilith's purple eyes who were shining and her facial expression remaining serious, Alex sighed again before raising the following question, he could more or less guess what going through the latter mind for her to make such a sudden proposal being who work on effeciency.
''I understand but can you tell the reason for this sudden proposal?"
Lilith's response was immediate.
''I want to increase our chance of survival in the war.''
''I can infer much! You must have probably heard about me being able to power up with my women, increasing our strength through our relationship, the synchro. Getting their abilities, right!?"
Lilith nodded as matter of fact. She learned of this from Incursio and Sakuya, those two probably shared this secret expecting this reaction, adding Lilith to the harem wasn't a bad thing either. They were aiming for one of her special abilities, the Shadow Summon, if Alex could aquire this ability, it would be put into a good use, imagine an endless shadow army, not only coming from Alex whose power keep growing but also from Lilith, their chance in the incoming battle would greatly increase, so naturally they shared this secret hoping for this and as expected Lilith took the bait, what was left was for the fish man to hook up.
''Okay, I understand your goal and I see no need to refuse it.'' Alex declared with a smile, slightly shocking her.
