Chapter 106: The White Bride Queen Spider
Demons. Beasts. Devils.
They all have one thing in common.
Just like humans, they all have Seven cores which correspond to their powers and innate abilities.
The more cores they have, the greater the strength.
But unlike humans, their cores are hidden all over their bodies, within their joints or vital organs.
Their powers do not come from the blessing of gods but from devouring the strong or filling some conditions placed on their bodies.
Beasts lack self-awareness and the ability to think, which differs them from demons and devils.
If a beast manages to awaken their third core, hidden in their brain, they become demons as well.
But before that happens, the beasts are enslaved to the innate characteristic of their race or the traits of their abilities.
Just like The White Bride Queen Spider.
Due to its nature, the white bride queen spider was deeply attracted to males. Be it human or any other race.
And jinn had witnessed the cruel, sadistic ritual of the accursed beast in its glory.
At the deep end of the cave, within the chambers of the spider, he saw white silk shining in all directions.
From the crown of web high above, several bodies—both human and beast—were hanging upside down.
Most of their bodies were intact, but all of them had a single part missing. They had no clothes, and their skins were covered in scars of the battle.
Their faces were twisted with despair, and their bodies were drained of blood from the very organ they treasured the most.
On the ground below, above the uplifted platform made from the white silk webs woven into a luxurious-looking bed, were the genitalia of the victims of the spider queen.
The gruesome pieces of meat were arranged neatly on the bed surrounding a huge white egg like trophies meant to be admired. They varied in different sizes and colors.
Some shriveled from the wear and tear of time, while some still dripped with fresh blood, staining the white platform with the mark of the horror that took place in this cave.
Despite how different these trophies looked, there was something common about them.
They were not neatly cut from the bodies of their owners, but instead, they were ripped out of the bodies with a slow and painful motion.
'They must have been alive at that time too.' Jinn suddenly felt a chill running down his stomach.
For a second, he could not even feel his own lower half when his mind wandered and imagined things on its own.
Shaking his head, Jinn focused on the Egg in the middle of hundreds of 'trophies.'
It was so clear and shiny that he could see the reflection of the entire cave on it.
On top of the egg, there was a complex red pattern painted.
Jinn looked around the cave, at the bodies hanging from the web attached to the ceiling and all corners, and then back at the egg.
There was no sign of the beast he came looking for.
Jinn recalled the information about the white bride queen spider once more and instantly focused on the white egg with red markings before him.
'When sleeping, the spider likes to huddle up its organs close to its core, taking the shape of an egg, which means…'
Looking at the two-meter-huge egg before him, Jinn realized that the queen spider was right in front of him all along.
'This will be a problem.'
Since the mission was to extract the saliva of the spider, he needed it to be awake and alive.
Had it been anyone else, they might have been discovered by the beast long ago, but since Jinn was blessed, his passive presence had gotten lower as well.
'I should first check how close I can get to a beast without it noticing me first.'
Jinn instantly covered himself with the power of illusion and slowly stepped out of the rocky terrain he was hiding behind.
With each step he took, his breath grew heavy. Jinn had never tested how close he could get to others under illusion before.
From the fear of being discovered, he refrained from taking such risks.
'Ten meters…' Calculating the distance between himself and the spider, Jinn felt no hint of danger or threat directed at him.
Step!
Step!
The distance only grew shorter, but he never even flinched. Just as he was only a few steps away from the platform, Jinn paused.
Not from fear or caution but from disgust.
'I feel nothing… Even the vague feeling of almost being discovered around the stronger beings is not there.' Jinn wondered from the distance.
Between him and the queen spider, there was only a distance of twenty steps.
Taking a deep breath, Jinn took ten more steps and realized that no matter how close he got, the spider would not notice him.
His presence, his smell, and the heat his body emitted sensed nothing.
Jinn felt like he could kill the beast in his state before it would even notice anything.
But Jinn never made decisions based on feelings. He did it on cold hard facts.
Suppressing the disgust in his mind, he stepped over the chopped dicks and severed balls lying on the bed and stepped forward.
Finally, he raised his hand and touched the sleeping beast.
But…
Creak!
The moment he did that, the egg suddenly shook. Almost instantly, it cracked in several places.
Jinn reacted on instinct and jumped back while still invisible to the world.
After landing, he watched the cracked egg split open. Several eyes, big and small, suddenly blinked open on the front.
The cracks revealed eight crooked and revolting legs attached to the main body that looked worse than the legs.
If the beast looked beautiful in its egg state, it looked hideous in its true form.
Upon waking up, the white bride queen spider looked around in confusion.
Clank!
The spider suddenly raised its front leg and stabbed them in the bed underneath it.
The next moment, the platform unfurled, and several webs were shot in various directions.
One of the webs came right at Jinn, but he easily moved out of its way with a side step.
Woosh!
What he did not expect was that the web fluid would suddenly break into several portions in the middle of the air.
With the main line as the center, several lines moved in all directions.
Fortunately none of these lines touched him, but unfortunately for him, Jinn was trapped.
With the spider beast as the center, a huge web was cast in every direction.
'It probably acted on instinct, sensing danger the moment I touched it and making a field to sense any enemy even if it did not see one present.'
Just based on the movements of the huge beast, Jinn guessed what had happened. He did not even realize that his heart was pounding at an extreme rate.
This was the first time he saw such a creature, let alone had such an encounter.
How could he know when he did not even realize that there was a chilling grin plastered on his face from the start?
'Now what should I do?' He watched as the spider sprayed another wave of web to create a connection to the food display above it.
Jinn watched it closely. The spider climbed on the cobweb in the middle of the air and approached the closest body.
Splash!
As if possessed by hunger, the moment the beast opened its mouth, huge drops of saliva came dripping out, falling on the ground.
'Wait…' smelling the familiar disgusting scent from the sticky fluid, Jinn recalled what he saw at the entrance of the cave. 'Does that mean I did not even have to come here to collect the saliva?'
While he cursed his bad luck, the queen spider had already finished dining on three bodies and decided to hang alongside its food, upside down.
'I have to get out of here. Getting in a fight here would be pointless.' Despite his eagerness to test his abilities, Jinn decided to withdraw.
He carefully stepped over the web blocks surrounding him while taking out a small flask from his easy-carry bag.
First he collected enough saliva to fill the beaker before leaving the area.
The spider had long fallen asleep and could not even sense Jinn's movements since he made sure not to touch the webs.
"Just like a spider." Jinn whispered to himself as he walked out of the cave. 'Should I collect more saliva?'
Since the amount of saliva needed for mission completion was not mentioned, Jinn was not sure if he had enough or not.
Just to be sure, he filled two more beakers of the same size, and thus his first mission came to an end.
"Now, the fangs of the Ironhide Wolves." Jinn looked up and realized that it was still some time before the night would fall and the dew would appear into existence. So until the time arrived, he decided to complete the second mission as well.
