DC: The Wolf God's Legend

Chapter 23: Chapter 23 - Virgin Sacrifice?

Mylo sat behind a desk in a hastily thrown up tent with blood and viscera covering the walls. It was originally one of the werewolves tents, apparently they were keeping record of achievements so they could 'divy up' the women they captured later. Thankfully the desk was clean enough for him to write up a contract. He had just put the finishing touches on it when he could hear triumphant chants coming from the bonfire outside.

He sat back and pulled out his phone to look up the news. All stations were currently covering the same story. The U.S. facility that was conducting illegal and immoral experiments. The latest leak to the press was about a large number of cloning procedures that were discovered were done at Cadmus.

Mylo knew all about those projects. He was directly opposed but Lex Luthor basically bankrolled it so Waller had no reason to deny the project. Which reminds him about the few clones that they moved. Some of them-

He was interrupted midthought as Artemis walked into the tent, "you were not kidding about your friend. I saw her and several of my huntresses scurry into a larger tent, I expect they will be very smitten with her."

Mylo just shrugged, "I have known her since before middle school so I know the type of woman she prefers." He then motioned to the seat he set up opposite him, "I finished the basic contract if you want to take a look. But I am more than willing to be flexible with it."

Artemis sat down and started reading, "we will work for you in exchange for housing and payment. Be part of our own special unit that will track down targets. Citizenship will be provided after a year of service. In the event of…" She continued reading out loud for a while and nodded. "Hm… it seems to all be good but there is no room for growth."

"Growth? Your deity powers are almost completely spent and you have no way to regenerate them." Mylo explained as he could feel a knot of something form in his stomach.

"For someone so intelligent you sometimes miss a few things." Artemis smiled smugly as she leaned back in her chair. "I am aware you have already established your own pantheon which is probably a pantheon of three for the moment. Am I right?"

Mylo sighed and leaned back, "you are… correct. But you realize the prerequisite for joining my pantheon would not be simple. You have to be strong enough without any external boosters."

"You mean like a Phoenix soul? Do not worry, I knew better than to hunt them to extinction. I also knew that the soul would only be a crutch. So I grew in strength on my own. But I am sure I can incentivize you in another way." She started speaking seductively towards the end.

Mylo frowned, "I suppose that could work. But it would cost me more then-"

"I can also teach you a trick to accumulate divinity from sacrificing virgins." Artemis' words instantly angered him but her chuckle told him she was about to elaborate. "But I did discover something shortly after the end of the reign of gods. The only thing for a virgin to be sacrificed is that the virginity is given to the deity." She then smiled while walking around the desk and sat in his lap. "Sooo… you just need to take virginities to accumulate more divinity. I am surprised you have not noticed."

"I do not go around bedding virgins… usually." Mylo thought about her words.

"Well, fortunately for you I am a virgin. Not to mention a virgin goddess, the amount of divinity will be enough to repay you. So I would gladly give it up for the sake of my pack." Artemis explained while trying her best to be seductive.

"Okay… but what divinities will you possess? The moon and direwolf are already taken." Mylo jokingly stated.

"Which is why I will be the wolf, the pack, and hunting. I know those are already open." Artemis answered as one of her hands wandered into his pants. Mylo shook his head, "hmm… this type of seduction is not really working for you is it?" She asked as she removed her hands from his pants.

"No, it is not." Mylo leaned back and seemed deep in thought for a moment before he nodded and decided on something. "Okay, but you realize this means you are eternally tying yourself to me."

Artemis smiled and leaned in and kissed him on the lips, "sounds fun."

"We are getting reports now of a declaration of war on Khandaq by Biayla." The newscaster reported immediately. She seemed to only have just gotten together and just barely then. Which made sense considering it was an emergency broadcast going on at midnight.

Her counterpart who did not even change his shirt and was still wearing a white t-shirt. "We here at World News Network will bring you all the latest information as it becomes available. But it already seems like Khandaq's lack of weapons and decreased military presence by the United Nations has contributed to the new war."

"More than likely due to the recent asset seizure of Luthor Corps weapons trade. Who were in the middle of weapons trade talks. The trigger of this war seems to be… the assassination of the Biaylian ambassador that was located in Khandaq. The assassination is the reason they are using to wage war, with an argument that Khandaq was behind the assassination."

"In addition to Khandaq being affected, there are several smaller nations on a world wide scale whose weapons trade came to a halt. It is believed that Luthor Corp has been selling their arms on the black markets making them a greater contender in the weapons trade than originally believed. With a giant gap in the world's weapons trade, who will step up to fill the gap?"

Question sat in his decrepit apartment in the slums of Gotham. The sound of cat calling and music could be heard outside. But he ignored it all in favor of the web of information he had built.

Many things that had occurred within the last few years were all connected to them. They had moved in the shadows and just as he heard the news he made another connection. That was the final piece.

"It is an arms race, but for superhumans. But intelligent people like yourselves would not start it off without first stacking the odds in your favor. So it must mean you already have a number of superhumans at your disposal. But where would you find a group like that besides the Justice League." He stood staring at the board for a few minutes before he had an idea. He raced over to a cabinet and pulled it open.

He quickly looked through them until he found a thick file and pulled it out. On the front of the file was the word 'Classified' stamped in red. In addition instead of the U.S. seal there was a seal with a bird and a shield with the american flag inside. Above it in the circle was the word 'Justice' and below it was the word 'Society'.

"The Justice Society of America," he opened the file and sat down at a table. "Now then I know I never found the location of their headquarters. But I did discover some of their original member's identities. If I can trace their descendants I should find their current hideout."

Barbara Gordon was close to graduating High School, she would probably even graduate at the top of her class for the academy. She was not even focused on that at the moment nor even what college she would go to. Even though she had already been accepted to colleges and universities across the country, she had yet to decide on a destination.

Her attention was currently split, between listening to her dad making dinner and looking over the files she scrounged up on those two people that have been causing problems for the Justice League. The psychological files might not have helped much but the drawings, schematics, and written programs were incredibly insightful and gave her a few ideas.

For example there was a program that went from system-to-system like a virus but only through solid ports. It avoided typical security scans by being separate from the typical file with a delayed installation. A lot of it was technical jargon but it basically meant that there was not a defense against it on the open market.

Then there were designs like this rough sketch of an advanced aircraft which looked remarkably similar to what she saw Mylo using.

"Barbara! Do you know what University you are going to?" Her father called from the kitchen, pulling the young woman from her thoughts and indicating that the time for dinner was approaching.

"Um… no not yet. I thought I might stay in Gotham. Why do you ask?" She asked as she hid the files in her underwear drawer before walking out.

"Because you got a number of more acceptance letters. It seems like MIT, Caltech, and several others that sound extremely smart." He explained as she walked in to see him spooning mac and cheese into a pair of bowls. "You know you could leave Gotham, see the world a bit…"

Barbara went to deny him but sighed as she saw his worried expression, "haa… okay I will consider it. I mean I suppose some of these places sound decent enough so I will check them out."

"Then maybe you could check them out this summer once you make your decision?" Gordon asked with hope causing Barbara to roll her eyes.

"Fine but if I do it I want to do a foreign exchange program."
