Chapter 33: Chapter 32: Verdant
Chapter 32: Verdant
Verdant, that was the name of the Club that Thea brought Blair and I.
I told Tom to get home as us 3 went on our way, to which he complied, not really seeming to care.
I didn't even get to tell him a chance about where we were doing.
"This looks amazing, Thea!" Blair exclaimed happily as she saw the massive business Thea had made by herself.
"Thanks Blair." Thea said, clearly proud that she had impressed Blair.
I looked around in surprise, since I had never been clubbing before.
It was a weird experience to say the least.
Verdant wasn't located at the fancier side of Starling, and it clearly didn't attract the riches clientele, but Blair didn't mention any of that.
Just further solidifying that when needed, she didn't bring up class disparity.
"Come guys, I will bring you to the private lounge." Thea called out to us as she led us to the top and we enjoyed a table with alcohol.
"I even have a special guest coming in today so you guys will enjoy it."
Right as she said that, as if on queue celebrity I really liked came into the club, as the music suddenly stopped while the DJ pointed towards him.
Wait a second… I know that celebrity.
But most importantly, I know the cat beside him!
The cat was dressed in a tux, and the man beside him was wearing what seemed to be the most comfortable fabric in the world.
"Everybody give it up for Bruno Mars and TOM THE CAT!"
As the crowd started to chear like madmen, Thea looked towards Blair, expecting a reaction from her.
"Didn't you say that you always wanted to meet that cat? I was able to get it to join us but his owner said he would only come if he did with Bruno mars."
Blair looked towards me with confusion. "And when did you do that?"
"I didn't." I said in a neutral tone, as Tom was waving his paw everywhere while walking to the DJ set.
"What's up Starling CITYYYYY!" Bruno shouted at the crowd who began to scream back at him wildly.
Right after that, Tom took over the DJ booth and began to play a familiar beat for everything.
"24K MAGIC IN THE AIR!" Bruno mars then began to sing a couple of songs.
"What do you mean you didn't…wait is that cat yours?" Thea questioned.
I didn't reply but that was as good as a confirmation
I watched as Tom confidently manipulated the DJ set like someone who has perfected the craft.
"Excuse me, I need to get this." Thea said as she walked to the side to pick up a phone call.
"Speedy I need you to vacate the club, a dangerous assassin is on the dance floor." I heard a man's voice from the other side.
As I heard that, Steel and I began to scan the crowd until we saw the man who had attacked Kendra the day before.
Thea then pulled the fire alarm causing the music to stop and everyone to begin clearing the club.
Bruno was also escorted out, but most people ignored Tom, who was utterly confused.
He sniffed the air, and knew there was no fire.
Slowly his confusion turned into annoyance as he began to kick the DJ booth, while folding his arms.
Soon, a man with a green hood appeared into the bar and pulled his blow while aiming it at the mystery man.
The Green Arrow, nocked an arrow and aimed at the mysterious man, his eyes steely with determination.
The man, dressed in dark, ancient garb that contrasted with the modern setting, smirked, exuding confidence born of countless battles.
"You can't stop me, Walmart robinhood," the man taunted. "I've seen empires rise and fall. What hope do you have?"
The Arrow's response was a swift release of the arrow.
The man sidestepped with supernatural speed, the arrow embedding harmlessly in the wall behind him.
The man then lunged at The Arrow, a curved dagger appearing in his hand as if by magic.
The Arrow countered with a swift, roundhouse kick, forcing the man to retreat a step. He followed up with a series of rapid punches, but the man blocked and parried with ease, his movements fluid and effortless.
The clash of their weapons and the thud of blows filled the room, a stark contrast to the distant thump of club music that was still playing.
"Savage." The Arrow addressed. "Surrender now or be locked up forever."
"I will take a 3rd option please!"
As they fought, the man now identified as Savage's experience showed. He moved with an elegance that belied his strength, each strike precise and deadly.
The Arrow, however, was relentless, using his agility and acrobatics to evade and counter. He seemed to know he couldn't match Savage's centuries of combat knowledge, but he had his own strengths to rely on.
"Supersonic speed approaching!" Speed told me.
"I know."
"Let's get you out of here." Thea said as she guided us down the stairs in hope that Savage wouldn't see us.
"Where do you think you are going?" Savage questioned while in the midst of battle, as he threw a knife right to my face.
He obviously recognised me as well.
I wanted to reach, but then I watched as Thea Queen threw a bottle of beer towards the knife, blocking its trajectory.
In a crazed manner, she then picked up the knife Savage threw and ran towards him.
"MOVE!" The Arrow shouted at Thea but to no avail.
"Blair." I called out to the terrified girl. I didn't know how to feel, since whenever we hung out something bad would always happen.
However before I could even answer, 2 more knives were flying my way.
But I was able to use superhuman speed to easily dodge them.
"Stay right here." I told her.
"Don't go, Lucas, please."
"Blair, I will be right behind you. Run to Tom now." I whispered to her, trying to let her stay calm.
She nodded to me, and then I looked towards Tom who didn't care about the fight and was still sulking.
"TOM!" I called out, to which Tom looked towards me in surprise, before becoming terrified of what was happening.
"Take care of her." I told him, but instead Tom jumped into Blair and clung to her like a koala, clearly scared of the fight that was happening right now.
"Tom I need you to step up, take care of Blair. Escape whenever you can."
While horrified by the flying knives, Tom nodded his head promising he would get Blair to safety.
"Hey, old guy!" I shouted at savage, but he didn't respond since he was preoccupied with the crazy Thea and Arrow.
"Leave, now!" The Arrow shouted at me, to which I signaled to Tom to leave as well, and they did just that.
I did try to stay around for a minute, to see if the duo needed my help, but they didn't.
And that was when I decided to call it a day and run outside the club too.
