Chapter 908: Utterly Insolent
Chen Nan stepped into the clumsy conspiracy of undead creatures.
They deliberately hid, luring Chen Nan into the trap.
Chen Nan didn't take it to heart at all.
The next moment.
Several figures emerged from all directions, including the vast Skull Bird, the skeleton wielding a Bone Blade, skeletal wolves the size of buffaloes, and skeletal apes as tall as hills.
Each undead creature exuded a chilling aura.
"A human, daring to intrude into the Netherworld, truly bold!"
A majestic voice echoed, and Chen Nan easily identified it as the skeleton with the Bone Blade speaking, as its Ghost Fire trembled violently when it spoke.
Seeing these undead creatures able to communicate, Chen Nan felt a bit relieved, communication might be a good start.
But what did they mean by the Netherworld?
"Everyone... uh..." He couldn't figure out how to address these undead creatures, "Everyone esteemed, I just accidentally entered here, not intentionally."
"Why not point me to a clear path, I'll leave right away!"
"Haha," a light laughter came from the left, a rotten fox lowered its head, it had nine tails, it was the Nine-tailed Demon Fox, "You want to leave after entering the Netherworld?"
Chen Nan frowned, in such a dangerous situation, he oddly found himself a bit distracted.
Many of these skeletons took the form of demon beasts, yet Chen Nan noticed they all shared a common trait: some human features.
For example, the Nine-tailed Fox, despite having nine tails, had a human-like skeleton.
And the skeleton with the Bone Blade, on closer inspection, surprisingly had a pair of broken horns atop its head.
These skeletons have human features while retaining demon beast characteristics, prompting a bold guess in Chen Nan's heart.
That these undead creatures were actually the Demon Clan!
"Kid, what are you thinking? Daring to ignore us, how disrespectful, let me devour you!"
The skeleton wolf roared in anger, immediately opening its ghastly white mouth, its rock-like jagged teeth clearly visible, the Ghost Fire in its eye sockets flickering as if highly excited.
The Nine-tailed Fox was not pleased, directly blocking the skeleton wolf.
"It's rare to have a living creature come, and you want to eat it alone?"
The Bone Blade Skeleton snorted coldly, "So how do you propose we divide it? Such a small human, even if divided, it won't be enough to fill the gaps between our teeth!"
Several skeletons began to argue over whether to share Chen Nan, making him break into a cold sweat, this place might as well be real Hell.
Seeing the path back was blocked and the way forward opened up a bit, Chen Nan gritted his teeth, regardless of what lurked ahead, he had to take a risk.
While some undead creatures were arguing, Chen Nan immediately used the Small Shifting Technique to slip between two skeletons, appearing three meters away.
The skeletons immediately stopped their bickering, turned to look at him, Ghost Fire flickering, chillingly menacing, a scene only found in ghost stories.
Chen Nan couldn't care less, directly waving to conjure a bright lightning, striking down with a crack.
This bolt of lightning made several undead creatures temporarily pause, even retreating unconsciously, they were evidently quite afraid of lightning.
But they soon realized that the lightning used by the human seemed to have only this much power, not enough to be a concern.
So several skeletons summoned Yin Energy, and whizzed after Chen Nan, their sinister laughter echoing around.
Chen Nan rushed blindly, lightning wings forming on his back, exhibiting his fastest speed, not having time to inspect the surroundings.
But the several undead creatures quickly caught up, emitting screeching ghostly sounds, terrifyingly haunting.
"Could it be I'm really going to die at the hands of these undead creatures?"
Chen Nan lamented in his heart, suddenly, a golden light appeared in his vision.
The light was like a shield, covering the entrance of a mountain cave, not only lacking dense Yin Energy but carrying a hint of the Buddhist Sect's aura.
Several undead creatures were nearly upon him, Chen Nan couldn't heed anything else, plunging headlong into the glowing mountain cave.
And the undead creatures indeed halted, standing outside the cave, while their skeletal faces couldn't show expressions, Chen Nan felt their anger.
"The little thing actually ran into that bald donkey's cave, truly despicable!"
"It's all because of the arguing, now none of us can eat him!"
The undead creatures started blaming each other, yet subtly guarded the cave entrance without leaving.
"Haha, I want to see how long this little thing can hide in the cave, this Demon Suppression Seal is nearly dissipated, isn't it?"
The Nine-tailed Fox emitted a sinister laughter, lying directly at the cave's entrance.
The Bone Blade Skeleton also sat cross-legged, not forgetting to threaten Chen Nan.
"When the Demon Suppression Seal dissipates, that will be your death!"
Inside the cave, Chen Nan heard the words of the undead creatures clearly, and dared not relax, by their words, the golden light at the cave entrance couldn't last long.
Observing the cave, he found the space wasn't large, seemingly deliberately carved out, only four or five meters deep, more than three meters wide, just taller than Chen Nan's height.
Beside the cave entrance on the stone wall was a Buddhist Sect "卍" symbol, which should be the Demon Suppression Seal mentioned by the undead creatures.
"Am I to wait here to die?"
Chen Nan felt somewhat hopeless, even if his cultivation speed was fast, spending a hundred years in this cave couldn't surpass those undead creatures outside.
When the Demon Suppression Seal dissipates, he too couldn't avoid death.
"Alas, this is truly terrible."
Chen Nan leaned on the stone wall to recover a bit, discovering an excited aura from the King of Ten Thousand Gu within him, instantly invigorating him.
Evidently, the treasure sensed by the King of Ten Thousand Gu was right in this cave!
"Hey, maybe there's still hope!"
Chen Nan could only find some humor in his plight, disregarding the gaze of undead creatures at the entrance, he stood and walked deeper into the cave.
After walking a few steps, he reached the end of the cave, although his sight was dim, Chen Nan still saw something at the end.
A ball of fire flew from his hand, illuminating the cave, Chen Nan finally saw the scene at the cave's end.
At the end was a circular stone platform, its surrounding engraved with lotus patterns.
On the stone platform, sat a mummy, still wearing a monk's robe.
Evidently, it was a monk long deceased.
Unexpectedly, a voice emanated from the mummy, "You have come!"
