Chapter 20: shadney vs Krain -The Duel
Shadney vs. Krain – The Duel
Shadney: "Dark Knight of the Shadows, your strength is impressive—like that of my old friend, Haans. I would praise you, but know this: you cannot defeat me in a duel. And so, today shall be your last."
Kraan: "If this is the end of my life, then let your light and advice be the last I ever hear. But as long as I walk not in light, but in the realm of darkness—you are no one to me. And I am no one to you."
Krain reached for his Dark Moon Light sword, unsheathing it from his back and strapping it to his waist.
Shadney: "That sword—is that the Dark Moon Light? Krain, how could you possibly know about it? Of course I know that blade. It is cursed by twenty thousand dead soldiers. Its other name is Dark Moon Tear—once a sacred sword of the lost Temple of Light, forged for the very first Holy Knight of Light. Do you even understand what you hold?"
"But it doesn't matter. I'll kill you, take that sword, and you will die without ever being recognized as its rightful master."
The battle began—one that would transcend any ordinary skirmish.
The 8th Holy Knight of Light, Shadney, cloaked himself in a pure white aura, his entire body radiating power as he whirled his steel blade. His aura pushed back the forces of darkness, making the fight harder for Krain—but still, Kraan drew strength from the shadows of the earth.
Krain—his eyes glinted red, like blades cutting through the light. Whispers of darkness called to him, and power surged from the depths of the soil.
Shadney strengthened his aura and dashed forward. His white blade slashed through the air like a flash of divine lightning. He aimed to pierce Kraan's heart, but Kraan held his blade upright, using it like a shield.
Suddenly, Krain pushed off the ground with his left hand and hurled his Dark Moon Light sword with his right. Spinning through the air, the sword flared with black flames as it hurtled toward Shadney and struck the earth with a thunderous impact.
Shadney raised his rear shield to block it—
BOOOM!
The clash between sword and shield echoed like the roar of collapsing heavens, and both warriors were thrown back by the wave of force.
Krain (breathing heavily): "Your light will not destroy me. But my cold flame of darkness will slowly lead you to death…"
He retrieved his sword, now whispering hungrily like it thirsted for blood. Shadows erupted beneath his feet, wrapping around his body. The energy was cold and still, yet solemn—as if chanting—and from his back, two enormous black wings emerged like the shadow of a demon.
This was the true manifestation of the Lord of Darkness within him.
Shadney (to himself): "This… this is the true power of Darkness… My King, if only you could see this with your own eyes…"
But all he could see now—was death. He raised his sword to the sky and shouted:
"Lux Dominae!"
A pillar of divine light shot down from the heavens, enveloping Shadney. It was judgment incarnate. His white sword spun into the air, glimmering before merging with the beam. The searing strike plunged toward Kraan.
Krain stepped forward, raised Dark Moon Light, and slashed upward. Shadney's light attack split and scattered, its remnants trying to envelop Krain—but he unfurled his dark wings and shielded himself.
He had changed. His eyes were now a deep black, a sigil of darkness flared on his chest, and his voice turned cold and echoing, like shadow itself:
Krain (deep, commanding voice): "Knight of Light… even your heart holds shadow. I will reach into it. Do you truly believe yourself chosen by the gods? Faithful to the light?"
Even in the hearts of gods, darkness hides.
In the next instant, they clashed again. Each strike could have crushed mountains. Every clash of steel cracked the earth, and the world grew silent and still.
Light and Darkness—two ultimate forces clashing, while even the heavens held their breath.
Shadney's light surged ever stronger. Krain—began to falter…
As the battle reached its peak, the two warriors prepared their final, decisive blows.
Shadney: "Do you truly believe you can defeat me? I may be powerful—but you cannot win!"
Krain: "I'm nearing the very limit of my power... Enough talk! Come at me!"
Krain concentrated his aura into his blade, preparing a strike.
Shadney, his entire body coursing with divine strength, dashed forward with a flash of steel.
Krain countered with a swing infused with darkness.
But just before their blades collided, Shadney saw his chance—he used Kraan's own darkness against him.
At the moment of impact, Shadney absorbed the dark energy through Krain's sword and redirected it against him, manipulating the flow of aura back toward its master.
Krain tried to resist, but Shadney had turned all of Krain's power against him.
Krain fell to his knees, gasping for breath. His body was already torn and bloodied—his strength, spent.
Before him stood Shadney, the 8th Holy Knight of Light, adorned in wide-sleeved armor, carrying both his sacred axe and blade.
Shadney looked down coldly and said:
"You're just a pitiful creature lost in the dark. Your very existence… is sin. Die—and pay for my comrade's death with your own life!"
Krain: "I… I shouldn't die like this… But I don't have the strength…"
He reached for Haans' weapon from the ground—his dual-edged blade known as Divine Executioner, and raised it, light radiating from its sacred edges.
Shadney: "This is the end. The judgment of the gods shall strike you now!"
He struck the ground with his axe-sword, chanting a spell. A brilliant beam burst from the heavens, lightning fast, hurtling toward Kraan like divine wrath.
Krain raised Dark Moon Light, trying to summon a last aura to block… but even lifting his fingers…
