Quest 12- Change In The Air
Four months after Evilus had their meeting, crime increased from big to petty.
“Huff!! Huff!! Fuck!” A couple of men were running through a dark alley in the western section of the city.
“Shit man! White Hide is on our ass!” said one man.
They kept running, reaching an abandoned section of the city and resting in a desolate building.
“Y-you think we lost him?”
“Don’t know… but we got these Magic Swords so we can—“
"Impressive," said a voice behind them.
“!?!?”
Before they could make a move, Cirrus quickly threw two straight punches into the men’s stomachs.
“Guwah!!”
They both fell to the ground, gasping for air. They looked to see a person about the size of a Pallum with his golden antlers and white attire.
“Sorry, but you have some questions. We need to be answered.”
He gave them two strong kicks to their chins, knocking them out.
“Haa… Maybe we can find some leads... I hope these two are in a Familia.”
He picked them up and ran.
Running quickly on the city’s rooftops, many could see a small person with brown hair with wind flowing through his hair, a white mask, and golden antlers running through like a fresh breeze with some criminals on their backs.
Many don’t know who he is; even the guild did not know who they were, only that the person was either a high-level Pallum or a new rising adventurer. Many decided to simply call him the White Hide since his mask resembled that of a deer.
Back at the Hermes Familia’s home.
“I have two more. They stole some magic swords from one of Hephaestus’s shops,” Cirrus said as his magic disappeared, leaving only his mask to remain.
He hands the two thieves to the Hermes Familia.
“Oh! What luck! We nabbed ourselves some as well, Zephyr!” said Lydia. “Now.” She then looked at them with an intense glare.
“Hm, well, you know where to find me.” Cirrus takes his leave and goes into a dark alley near the Familia home, disappearing quickly into the shadows.
“He’s gone already?” said Hermes, walking in.
“Yup, he got us some more mouths.” Lydia then slapped the guy's head, waking them back up.
“W-wah! Where am I!”
“H-huh? Let me go!!”
“Shit, it's Autolycus of the Hermes Familia!!”
“Lord Hermes, I’ll be sure to give you a report when we're done, and I expect some good drinks when I come back!”
“Will do!”
She then dragged the men down into the Familia’s basement, where no one could hear their voices.
Back in Lenoa’s shop, Cirrus arrives from the back, and his mask evaporates into the air as he opens the back door.
“Haa… home at last.”
Creak!
“Aunty Len! I’m back!”
“Kihihihi!!” she laughed. “Welcome back. Were there many today?”
“Somewhat most of them were petty thieves, but I found some that stole magic swords.”
“How bold of them? I wonder why no one comes here."
“Probably because it is tucked away in a dark corner, besides its good security.”
Cirrus sits down and eats the leftovers from yesterday.
“You have been watching over this area; so many must avoid this place.”
“Maybe…”
“Are you going into the dungeon today?”
“I am. Eupheme wanted to get more material.”
“Very well. Take a bath before you leave. I can smell the urine from those thieves you stopped.”
“What?”
Sniff! Sniff!
'Ah, fuck you can.’
After washing up, Cirrus gets everything set and leaves for the dungeon.
“Sorry, I’m late Eupheme!” Cirrus met her in front of Babel.
“No worries.” She then turned her gaze over the many adventures at the plaza. “Tell me, Cirrus, has the city always been this... off?”
Cirrus looked out, and he could see it as well. The look of uncertainty in the adventurer's eyes showed that many were level 1 and didn’t dare enter the dungeon unless they knew a strong Familia was near their floor.
The scent of iron lingered in the air as, from afar, one could hear the screams of people getting robbed.
"Let's hurry and get this finished,” Cirrus said.
“Right.”
As they were going down the Dungeon, Cirrus met some familiar people.
"Ah, Cirrus," Said Kushida.
“Cirrus!” said Ai.
The rest of their Familia nodded their heads.
“Hello again, this is my party member and blacksmith Eupheme.”
"Hm," she said, nodding her head.
“Cirrus, I’m here to fight some monsters!” she said, patting her short sword.
“That’s good. Have you guys been teaching her how to use a sword?” Cirrus asked her Familia.
“Hm, Lord Susanoo has been teaching her.”
“Yeah, so you wanna party up with us!” Ai said.
Cirrus looked at Eupheme, and she nodded. Cirrus looked at Kushida, and she did as well.
“Sure thing, the Dungeon has been getting more dangerous as of late, so being in a group is safer.”
“!!” Her face lit up in joy.
Many adventurers who saw the excitement on her face going down the stairs to the dungeon felt a warmth in their hearts.
