Chapter 190: Demi Spirits
According to Zeus Familia's records, the 59th floor was a glacial expanse, with frozen rivers and lakes hindering movement.
The biting cold could slow even high class adventurers.
Now, the floor resembled the 24th floor's pantry, overgrown with exotic plants and grasses.
Orsted ignored this.
He focused on a long-overdue system sign-in.
It had been over half a month since his last one, with no triggers until reaching the 59th floor.
[Sign-in successful. Congratulations, host, for obtaining Rhongomyniad the Lance that Shines to the End of the World!]
'First Excalibur, then Avalon, now Rhongomyniad?'
Orsted mused, eyeing the lance in his system space.
'Is this system turning me into Arthur?'
He brushed off the thought, keeping Rhongomyniad stored.
The group trekked through a dense forest passage.
Soon, strange sounds—chewing, heavy objects falling, and sharp screeches—echoed from the floor's center.
Everyone's expressions grew grave as they neared.
Their vision cleared, revealing a vast clearing devoid of trees—the 59th floor's heart.
Swarms of monsters gathered.
Everyone's eyes widened, their breathing slowing, on high alert.
Orsted cursed inwardly.
Before them stood three massive monsters, parasitized by Jewel Fetuses, devouring monsters with their tentacles.
He'd anticipated up to two demi spirits due to his presence, but three was outrageous.
Watching them consume magic stones, Orsted's eyes twitched.
"Be cautious. These are likely Level 7. One mistake, and we're done," he warned.
"They're monsters, gorged on magic stones, enhanced to Level 7," Finn said grimly.
"Prepare for battle!"
The three Demi Spirits morphed, their bodies swelling and bursting, revealing beautiful woman-like upper bodies atop monster-like lowers.
With a roar, dark clouds gathered, plunging the floor into darkness.
"Aria, Orsted!" their voices overlapped, calling out.
The ground quaked, and vines surged behind, blocking retreat.
Everyone's faces shifted.
"Aria, Orsted, merge with us!" the Demi Spirits demanded.
"Riveria, Lefiya, hands out," Orsted said calmly, extending his palms.
Surprised but quick, Riveria placed her hand in his.
Lefiya followed, stacking hers on Riveria's.
Others looked puzzled.
"It's a Mages medal boosting mage's mind and power. I don't use it lightly," Orsted explained.
He'd assigned the mages medal's effects to them via contact, enhancing their magic.
Everyone was stunned.
"You've got stronger gear than what you gave us?" Finn said, amazed.
The Demi Spirits didn't give them time.
Massive magic elements gathered, multicolored arrays forming beneath, ready to cast.
Finn used the Hestia Ring to draw a magic sword.
"Use magic swords to interrupt their chants!"
He planted his Roland-series spear, gripped a magic sword, and swung, unleashing flames at the Demi Spirits.
Ais, Tione, Gareth, and Tsubaki followed, drawing and swinging magic swords from their Hestia Rings.
Lefiya cast her magic.
Riveria held back, as Finn hadn't signaled her, watching Orsted raise Excalibur, golden light gathering each second.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
Orsted didn't answer, the light intensifying.
Riveria, unfamiliar with Excalibur's release, felt its immense magic.
"That's the magic that killed Black Goliath!" she blurted, recalling Ais's tale.
Their group's magic swords struck the demi spirits head-on, their combined force meant to disrupt the chants.
But one demi spirit stepped forward, shielding the others, absorbing the hits.
Finn's eyes shrank, seeing the other two demi spirits chants uninterrupted.
"Riveria, set up a defensive barrier!" he shouted, turning.
