Chapter 186: Towards the Dragon Vase - 1
After a night's rest to recharge, Orsted and the others prepared and gathered at the entrance to the 51st floor.
During Loki Familia's last expedition, a swarm of new monsters emerged here, causing heavy losses and mission failure.
This time, no such monsters appeared.
Finn and the others were surprised but didn't dwell on it.
After Riveria cast defensive magic on everyone, they moved out.
"Stay alert," Finn said while running, then turned to Orsted.
"Orsted, I'm entrusting Riveria and Lefiya to you."
With Orsted being faster than even Ais with Tempest, Finn tasked him with protecting the two mages.
Riveria and Lefiya wielded powerful magic but lacked the speed and reflexes of High Class adventurers, needing constant watch.
Without Orsted, Finn would've assigned Ais.
"Finn, I have a suggestion," Orsted said, nodding. "Is it feasible?"
"What's the suggestion?" Finn asked.
"The Valgang Dragons snipe across floors. Why not follow their blasted passage straight to the 58th floor?" Orsted proposed.
"I was thinking the same," Finn replied.
"In the past, supporters made it impractical. But with no supply concerns now, we can take the shortcut with our strength."
"It's said Zeus and Hera Familias used it after their second Dragon's Vase entry. Any thoughts?"
He looked to the group.
"I'm fine," Bete said first.
"No objections," Tione added.
"Me too. These floors are decent for training, but the 58th is better. Let's go straight there," Tiona said, raising her hands while running.
"I'm good with it," Ais nodded.
As a Level 6, deeper floors offered better training.
"Agreed," Riveria said.
Gareth finalized it. "We'll wait for the Valgang Dragon's snipe, then take the hole to the 58th."
Lefiya, trembling at the plan, had no say but felt safer knowing Orsted was watching her and Riveria.
When Finn assigned Orsted, she'd seen him nod.
Her cheeks flushed at the thought.
Orsted's voice snapped her back.
"What's this?" she asked, puzzled by the ring he offered.
"An item to resist Valgang Dragon attacks," Orsted smiled.
He'd prepared extensively for the expedition, including these defensive barrier items, triggered by attacks.
He gave them only to Lefiya and Riveria, whose physiques were weaker than the others'.
Despite Riveria's defensive magic, Orsted added extra protection for the Dragon's Vase.
"You've got quite the arsenal," Finn said, smiling at the amulet rings.
"Put it on, Lefiya," Riveria urged, already wearing hers, annoyed at Lefiya's daze.
Free gear, and she's daydreaming? Riveria wanted to tap her head.
"Yes, Lady Riveria!" Lefiya snapped back, quickly taking and wearing the ring.
Her cheeks reddened again, lost in thought.
"Lefiya, thinking something naughty?" Tiona teased, grinning.
"No way!" Lefiya squeaked, flustered.
"Enough joking. Those monsters snipe is coming. Get ready," Finn said, feeling ground tremors.
Everyone sensed it—except Lefiya, still confused.
Orsted grabbed her, leaping back.
A massive fire pillar erupted where they'd stood, blasting toward the ceiling.
Boom!
