Aftermath
Alex didn't get stuck in his thoughts however and charged at the monster that by this point in time realized that Alex was a bad opponent for it and was looking for a way to flee. Obviously this was simply not an acceptable outcome since at that point there was nothing to stop the monster from setting off another volcano. Alex was a firm believer that cataclysmic threats like this monster should be exterminated at the earliest possible opportunity. Unfortunately for the monster , Alex was much faster than it was in every way so it quickly get bombarded with elemental attacks.-
It took a luck shot with a withering orb to the head for Alex to finally kill the monster but then he was left with the awkward task of trying to bring to corpse back to astera. He was certainly strong enough the pull the massive thing into the air but due to it's size and weight he needed to take many rest stops during the trip back. It was extremely tiring and hard since the corpse would catch all the winds and he would need to readjust to compensate for it. After an entire day of travel Alex finally made it back to astera and unceremoniously left the massive corpse outside the front gate before taking a long nap.-
By the time he woke up the corpse had been dismantled half way while all the withered parts were simply discarded entirely. Clearly it was a slow going for the people of astera to dismantle the huge beast. The chef however had apparently taken a liking to the meat as when alex reached that area he was directing a few crews to move thick slabs of flesh towards the larder. The folks from the smithy meanwhile were having a field day with the huge bones and scales of the monster being piled up at the side.-
The scholars also were thrilled as they were able to take as many samples as they liked of this monster since there was a lot of it. Any gems that were found throughout the corpse were set aside for Alex and at the moment that total was numbered at five. The commander wasted no time at all walking up to Alex with the admiral and even Zain who seemed upset for some reason. "It goes without saying but thank you for taking care of this monster before it could cause more damage." the commander said seriously.-
Alex shrugged 'If it wasn't for a new elemental power I got then I may not have been able to kill it at all.' He said honestly. "Yes , I was about to bring that up as the wounds on the corpse don't match any known power we have on record. I assume this new power of yours is the cause of this?" the commander asked seriously. Alex nodded and held a single claw over a weed growing between the cracks of the stone ground before carefully letting only a single drop of withering liquid fall on it.-
Upon contact the men watched as that weed withered and crumpled into dust before the drop hit the ground that also became slightly discolored. This sight sent a chill down their spines as it was like looking at the passage of time sped up for a huge amount of time in an instant. 'I call it withering essence and as far as I am aware it is the only elemental power with five other elements making it up , Poison , fire , water , thunder and dragon elements specifically.' Alex explained seriously.-
"So anything it touches just withers away in an instant?" the admiral asked for confirmation and Alex nodded. "A rather frightening power to have , I would suggest using extreme caution when utilizing it." the commander said sternly. 'Not to worry I intend to keep it as a last resort due to the damage it causes to the surroundings.' Alex said while pointing out the discoloration of the stone. The admiral tapped that area with his foot lightly and shivered as the stone merely crumbled into dust at his touch.
