"Ah! You must be Miss Amber!"

The receptionist at the Contructor's Guild receives me with a very obvious forced smile. I cannot blame him, this is not a good day for the construction team.

People run from one side to the other, running like crazy while we are entering. Documents, papers, blueprints. What I guess is that the government sent them a lot of orders so they can start as soon as possible with the reconstruction of the town.

"Yes, a pleasure. I think I came at a bad moment..." I say, not wanting to take resources out of the guild's hands as they seem to be over their limit.

"Yeah," ouch, hit me with sincerity, alright, "we have had too many requests since the situation. We were spared from the attack, but this place is as much a mess as the town is." He turns around. There are a series of tubes behind him, with an opening to get stuff in and out. He throws in a piece of paper and it goes up the metallic cylinder. "The builder assigned to you will come soon."

"Thanks, sorry for the inconvenience."

While we wait, I am still giving it thought to what Demisaus said. She basically left us with too many questions and little answers. I want to know more about this world and why I came here, but she either has no clue or is not willing to tell me.

"I should have asked her if she could give me a new body..." Karina comments in frustration.

"Would you have asked her to give you a similar body?" I ask her with a dumb smile.

"W-what are you implying, you pervert!" She covers her chest. "I am happy with my physique, thank you very much! Why are you so direct with me and not with Aurelia?! I feel you would be all over me if I got the body!"

"Sigh... I don't know." I admit. In reality, I am not sure what is so different with her. I am more direct with women, it is rare to be intimidated. Maybe I have never found one that is so direct with me? "Maybe I am afraid of what she would do if I just give her the go?"

"I admit... she seems very aggressive when it comes to flirting... as in the literal sense."

"Yeah, I got that vibe..."

"I wonder what would you do if I had a real body..." Karina whispers, but I manage to hear.

My ears perk up and I turn my full attention to her.

"What was that?"

"N-nothing! I was just thinking loudly about something..." She avoids my eyes.

Yeah, I heard that. I will keep it in mind for later as I can see someone approaching us and I don't want to be seen as the crazy vulpin that flirts with the air.

"Hi..." A tired looking wolf person approaches me. "You must be Amber. My name is... yaaaawwwnnnn... sorry..." He yawned so loudly and visibly I could see what he ate last night for dinner. "My name is Kaine... I am the builder that got assigned to you... I will charge you mostly the materials and part of the hard work... the mayor and... yaawwwnn... guild are paying the rest..."

What the-! He is about to fall asleep! How am I supposed to expect him to do a good job if he seems about to fall over asleep any moment now? Heck, this is what I get for trying to get a discount at one of these greedy guilds that all they do is overcharge for something that I can do and gain XP for! Sadly, I cannot blame them right now and if I did I would sound too overstepping and greedy, seeing the condition of this town.

"Ugh... what a mess... Did he even take a bath this morning? He seems to be so out of it..." Karina comments. "Get us one that is better!"

"W-what are your qualifications...?" I ask, trying to hopefully get something better.

"Qualif... huh... I don't know... there is a board with every member... I will go get my equipment and we can go to the site..."

And before I manage to say anything else, he darted off! Okay, what is this nonsense?! I want the amount that I am paying for!

"You should have negotiated directly with the guild!" Karina is with her hands closed. "Ugh... I bet he cannot build a house of cards without dropping the first ones!"

"I know... but see how much work they have today." I am trying to be comprehensible, although I don't want to have a building fall on me.

I reach the board with the list of members. It is a magical device that is updated with everyone that works on the guild and how much they charge for each work. The qualifications go from the best at the top and the worst one, normally apprentices, at the bottom, with lower prices for obvious reasons.

"He must be down here..." I comment while looking for the name Kaine. They have ranks like adventurers! I didn't know! They start at D-, so I begin there... I cannot see him. I am at C+... and nothing, his name is not.

"What is it? Cannot find him? Maybe he isn't even on the list or you forgot how to read!" Karina says jokingly.

"Eeehhh..." That is when I reach S+.

He is at the top, charging the biggest amount with the qualifications to build basically anything with any material you can ask him for. I read the name several times to make sure I read that right.

"What?" Karina asks.

I point at it.

It takes her a few seconds to process the information.

"This has to be some form of mistake! With his attitude, how come he is S+ rank in his guild?" She cannot believe it even less than I do. Oh, well, never judge a book by its cover.

"I have everything..." He said while somehow looking more tired when he comes back.

"Okay... I will take you to the land I want to develop... just don't ask questions." I hope he doesn't, or at least doesn't care enough.
