Chapter 60: Chapter 59
After breakfast, Yuta and Fern were about to leave the house when an anbu appeared at the door. Facing Yuta, the anbu immediately knelt respectfully and said that Tsunade had been called to the Hokage office.
Yuta could not understand why an anbu would kneel to someone who was not the Hokage, so he ignored it and went into the house to get Tsunade.
Yuta didn't realize it, but the most popular topic among the anbu ninja lately was who would be the next Hokage. What started this discussion was that the Hokage had suddenly accepted three new students.
Tsunade, one of the Hokage's previous generation of students, was a gambling addict, and her becoming the next Hokage meant that the village's economy would soon be destroyed. If Jiraya had become Hokage, it would not have been welcomed by many villagers, because his prestige was really ruined. Even though Jiraya was loved by the senior ninja, his image among the ordinary villagers was very bad because he had been caught more than once observing the women's baths. Of course, the main reason for this bad reputation was that the third war had only just begun, and as time went on, Jiraya would gain a good reputation on the battlefield and become a popular figure again, but right now his reputation is not as good as it will be in the future.
The most popular of the Hokage's previous generation of students was Orochimaru. But unfortunately he too had a flaw, and that flaw was his growing coldness towards the people around him, especially in recent times. Despite his coldness, people agreed that he would be the next Hokage until the new students appeared.
The emergence of the new students caused a major controversy in the anbu department. Some anbu ninja took the question of who would be the next generation Hokage so seriously that they began to treat the person they were defending like a Hokage, just like this man.
Yuta thought this was normal anbu behavior, and after summoning Tsunade, he and Fern ignored the man who continued to kneel and headed for the center of the village.
After a short walk, they came to the village's most famous barbecue restaurant. Yuta looked at Fern secretly and saw that she had stopped her strange behavior since yesterday and was looking for the source of the smell of meat in the air. Maybe it was because Fern was a war orphan and couldn't eat meat for a long time, but Fern's weakness was definitely meat.
Yuta walked through the door without saying anything and asked the fat waiter to reserve a room for them.
The street where Yuta brought Fern was a street completely lined with restaurants. This street was owned by the akimichi clan. The akimichi clan, one of the most knowledgeable clans in the world about food, naturally they knew who Yuta was. The fat waitress smiled meaningfully that he was not with Tsunade as usual, but with another little girl, and made her way into the kitchen, leaving Yuta gritting his teeth behind.
Yuta entered the private room with the number she was told, hoping that this fat woman would not destroy his reputation.
The next ten minutes were very quiet. Yuta was waiting for the food to be served before he started any important conversation and Fern, out of shyness, did not initiate any conversation.
Once the food was served, Fern began to tear into the meat and eat it as if she had forgotten everything. Normally she would never start eating before Yuta at a meal because Heiter had taught her this as a courtesy. Yuta was aware of this and seeing that she liked eating meat more than he thought, he postponed the conversation until after the meal. Meanwhile, when Yuta saw Fern eating meat like a hamster, he remembered a habit he had forgotten for a while and raised his hands to record a photo of Fern through the system.
[Congratulations you caught a silver moment; a small and innocent addiction]
[Photo reward: Magic staff crafting spell]
Yuta was a little surprised to feel a new energy unit in his body, which he guessed must be mana. This reward would be useless if it wasn't Frieren, at best it would allow him to create a staff for Fern, but if he learned a few spells from Frieren, a lot of things in his life would be easier.
As much as Fern liked meat, she was not a big eater. She was out of breath after eating a big piece of barbecue.
After gulping down the water Yuta handed her, Fern remembered that she was not alone here and slowly lifted her reddened face to face him who was smiling at her.
"Fern, if you're not full, you can order more. I have enough money."
Fern bowed her head in embarrassment and said in a barely audible voice that she was full. She is still a child, even though she has been taught to be mature.
"Then let's talk. You must have something on your mind if you've been acting strange since yesterday."
"I have nothing on my mind."
Yuta sighed deeply and began to speak himself. "If it makes you feel better, you can just think that I kidnapped you and that from now on you have to serve me." Fern started to worry, but Yuta realized his mistake and quickly changed the direction of the conversation.
"I'd better tell you why you are here and some things about the ninja world."
"I still remember the rules, Yuta-sama."
"I'm not talking about the rules, and you don't have to call me that even when we are alone. I'll tell you a story about this ninja world, a story about two men named Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama. I see that Tsunade's power frightened you, and that's why I'm telling you this story, because ninjas are much stronger than the wizards in your world in terms of brute strength."
For the next two hours, Yuta continued to instill in Fern common sense about the ninja world. Fern was surprised to hear the story of Hashirama and Madara's battle, but relieved to hear that there were no such powerful people in the world now. By the end of the conversation, many of Fern's questions had been answered and Yuta could see that her eyes were clearer than before.
