Chapter 146: The Guest Who Arrives in the Dead of Night, The Grief of the Phoenix_2
Frightened by his speed, the Celestial Wolf reflexively dodged to the left!
A gust of wind howled past, causing his white hair to fly up wildly, followed by the pig-slaughtering-like wail of the ferocious man!
"Ah..."
Blood as vivid as red wine spurted out from his stiff neck, instantly dyeing him into a blood-drenched figure!
Su Chen's body shimmered with cyan light, blocking all the splattered blood droplets. A short blade formed of wind energy was inserted into the neck of the ferocious man. The man wailed in agony, struggled, and slowly fell to the ground, unable to rise again.
Almost instantly, the remaining people retreated to the sides as if they'd seen a ghost, even sobering up a bit from their drunkenness. Staring at Su Chen, who resembled a Death God, their eyes widened, full of disbelief.
"This... this kid is strong!"
A trembling voice came from the crowd.
The Celestial Wolf's face turned pale as he looked at his fallen comrade; though fear filled his heart, it was overshadowed by the roaring flames of anger!
"Brothers, kill this little pest who came out of nowhere!"
With an order, more than a dozen Death Warriors, fueled by strong liquor, all drew weapons from their waists and charged at Su Chen.
The Celestial Wolf's eyes flashed fiercely, but he didn't immediately attack Su Chen.
Su Chen dashed into the group like a wolf among sheep, the short blade in his palm spinning, slicing through the bodies of those Death Warriors with the fierce wind energy, bursting into shocking blooms of blood in the air. With speed and power on his side, these warriors posed no threat to him. In just a few blinks, nearly half of them became cold corpses. Some of them even still intoxicated, unable to discern the true face of their opponent, fell dead to the ground, saying goodbye to this world forever.
The more Su Chen fought, the more exhilarated he became. A short blade appeared in his left palm as well, attacking with both hands, sword edges crisscrossed, leaving marks on the ground and tables, sparks mixed with blood occasionally bursting through the air.
Phoenix's elderly parents stared dumbly at the terrifying scene before them, too afraid to utter a sound.
Tears blurred Phoenix's vision, yet a great joy filled her heart. She knew Su Chen was going mad for her sake, willing to become a demon of slaughter!
But upon sweeping her gaze onto the Celestial Wolf, her expression changed abruptly!
"Su Chen, watch out, the Celestial Wolf is behind you!"
A cry of alarm resonated through the Cang Family hall, filled with endless fear and resentment!
The Celestial Wolf was merely half a meter away from Su Chen, how could Phoenix believe Su Chen could avoid such a perilous strike?
Yet she underestimated Su Chen's vigilance and overestimated the Celestial Wolf's strength.
Amidst his fierce killing, a black flame suddenly erupted from around Su Chen, conveniently engulfing the attacking Celestial Wolf completely!
Amidst the ghostly wails and wolf-like screams, along with the intense burning of the flames, the cries gradually weakened. A highly foul stench emanated from the pool of blood, nearly suffocating Phoenix and her parents.
A dignified Five-star Beast Master vanished from this world in such a manner. The Celestial Wolf hadn't even faced Su Chen directly before he chased regretfully after his companions to Asura Hell.
A figure hidden in the darkness swiftly shot towards the direction of the Cang Family's back door. Su Chen glanced indifferently, letting out a light cold snort.
Seeing the corpses around, Phoenix's parents shivered uncontrollably, an icy chill enveloping them, making them feel nauseated. This man, like a killing god, was truly terrifying. The Snow Wolf Death Squad, led by the Celestial Wolf—a Five-star Beast Master—with over ten brothers under him, mostly Beast Masters and above. Yet in less than five minutes, they all perished under this man's hands! What a shock!
Su Chen reined in his murderous intent, releasing dense water energy from his palm to wash away most of the blood and filth. He then slowly returned to Phoenix's side, as if nothing had happened, calmly saying, "All settled. Is there anything else that requires my help?"
"Thank you, Su Chen," Phoenix spoke softly, her cheeks flushed, deeply touched by his serious demeanor.
Cang Qu stepped forward, looking at this boy even younger than his own daughter, shaking his head with a sigh, "Young man, thank you for saving us."
"Uncle, no need to be so polite."
Su Chen chuckled, the sudden transformation from killing god to sunshine made Cang Qu and his wife momentarily daze.
"Dad, with Su Chen's help, everything will be okay."
Confidence filled Phoenix's voice.
Infected by this assurance, a trace of consolation appeared on Cang Qu's aged face, though thinking about the grievances his daughter suffered for the family made him deeply regretful, "Sorry, Yan'Er, it's all because of me that you suffered so much."
Phoenix shook her head, "It's not your fault, Dad. If anyone's to blame, it should be that bullying Nalan Family."
Cang Qu suddenly shuddered, fearfully surveying the surroundings, anxiously whispering, "Shh, keep your voice down! Yan'Er, Nalan Qing placed a few servants in our home, be careful not to be overheard!"
At this, Phoenix's pretty face blossomed with a smug smile, "Dad, you might not know. Today Su Chen publicly taught Nalan Kang a lesson, and Nalan Qing didn't even dare to make a peep."
"Really?"
Cang Qu was astounded, looking at Su Chen incredulously, "Is it true? Are you not teasing me to cheer me up?"
"It's true. Many city residents witnessed it, right outside the Spirit Palace. You know? Nalan Qing didn't dare trouble Su Chen because Su Chen knows Lord Parkinson and Lord Tianhui of the Divine Concealment Hall! The very Lord Tianhui highly rumored to be the next head of the Divine Concealment Hall!"
Phoenix wore an expression of pride as if she had seen it all herself.
Cang Qu and his wife were utterly stunned.
They couldn't believe their eyes as they gazed at Su Chen, looking at his still somewhat youthful and handsome face, filled with shock.
Being nobles of their standing, having friends of equal status was considered good. Knowing someone in high society or even the royal family was practically impossible. And those powerful Beast Cultivators were even difficult for the royal family nobles to befriend, much less themselves.
Yet this boy, who seemed exceedingly compliant towards their daughter, knew two myth-level figures at once, bringing about such gigantic astonishment almost causing them to lose their senses.
Cang Qu felt his breath freeze, his pale lips slightly parted, unable to utter a word.
Phoenix chuckled at her father's reaction, "Dad, why do you look like you've seen a ghost?"
"Uh, no way... Yan'Er, you little rascal, dare to tease your father!"
Cang Qu came to his senses, feigning anger, glaring at Phoenix, then assuming a startled expression towards Su Chen, "Su... Su Chen, can I call you that?"
Su Chen laughed, "Just call me Su Chen, uncle."
Cang Qu was overjoyed, releasing his wife's hand and grabbing Su Chen's instead, his face showing a reverent expression like seeing a deity, making Su Chen a bit amused.
"Great, great, Su Chen, this is how I'll call you. Thank you so much for helping the Cang Family, uncle doesn't even know how to repay you!"
Su Chen kept shaking his head, "Uncle, you're too kind, please don't say that."
Seeing Su Chen awkwardly shy, Phoenix smiled sweetly. She never thought knowing Su Chen could bring such joy to the Cang Family. Remembering the day he was ambushed, a pang of fear struck her. If Su Chen had died, wouldn't she have been a lifelong sinner for the Cang Family?
Fortunately, she made amends, trading servitude for his forgiveness. Remembering the shameful spots, Phoenix blushed, unable to help but lower her head.
"Yan'Er, why are you standing idly? Quickly instruct the servants to clean-up, tonight dad wants to thank Su Chen thoroughly, won't stop until he's drunk!"
Phoenix giggled, then joyfully ran out of the hall.
Watching her lively deer-like departing back, Su Chen shook his head alone, a hint of a smile on his mouth.
Night fell, the middle-class noble district where the Cang Family resided, shrouded in darkness. From the east gate of Muni City, numerous mysterious shadows flashed rapidly, where they passed, the dark energy was so thick it almost halted the flow of air...
In a room lit by a warm Beast Oil Lamp, Su Chen sat cross-legged on a bed, eyes closed, adjusting the circulation of energy within.
