Cultivating Immortality, One Wish a Day

Chapter 1 - A leap into the Unknown

“Woah, did I actually get teleported to another world?” Chen Fan exclaimed, his eyes widening.

Rolling hills, calm rivers, and fluffy white clouds drifting lazily—such a scene felt strangely surreal.

Just a moment ago, he was driving an ordinary car through a tunnel, and now, in the blink of an eye, he found himself in this unfamiliar place.

“The bead is incredible!”

Chen Fan exclaimed with excitement.

He was just an average person, leading a mundane life for thirty-two years without any notable achievements.

His parents had passed away early, and his wife existed only in his dreams. If it weren’t for the mysterious pearl he acquired years ago, he might have continued his ordinary life indefinitely.

“Swoosh!”

Chen Fan reached out, and a misty, ancient pearl appeared in his hand. This was the prized pearl he possessed. Having the pearl, allowed him to make a small wish every day.

“Roar!”

Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed in Chen Fan’s ears, snapping him back to reality. Looking around, he realized he was in a dense forest.

“What kind of beast makes such a loud noise?”

Chen Fan’s face turned pale.

“I wish that the direction indicated by the tip of the stick I throw today will be the safest and quickest way out of this forest, leading to human habitation.”

Chen Fan picked up a stick from the ground and threw it, observing as it landed and bounced twice. The tip settled on a small stone, pointing in a specific direction.

“That’s the way!”

Chen Fan glanced at the stick, without any hesitation, and immediately began moving swiftly in the indicated direction.

“Thank goodness I still have today’s wish.”

Chen Fan felt grateful. He could only make one wish per day. Furthermore, making wishes that were too ambitious was practically impossible to fulfill.

He once wished to soar through the clouds, but he only managed to fly a few dozen meters before descending, narrowly escaping death. Luckily, he had been cautious enough to make the wish over a lake.

He also wished for immortality once, only to discover that each wish added only half a day to his lifespan.

Attempting to use the wishing bead to obtain a cultivation technique in his original world also ended in failure.

“Swoosh!”

As he navigated the forest, Chen Fan periodically picked up small branches and threw them to alter his direction, avoiding potential dangers.

One hour, two hours… Three hours later, his vision widened, and a dirt road appeared abruptly in front of him.

“Finally out!”

Chen Fan turned to look at the mountain forest behind him, a wave of lingering fear washing over him. While traversing the forest, he had encountered a tall exotic beast with green scales, but fortunately, the creature ignored him.

“Snap!”

Chen Fan picked up another wooden stick and threw it. The stick landed on the ground, trembling twice.

The tip veered, pointing to his left.

Chen Fan immediately changed direction.

He continued to progress in the direction indicated by the stick’s tip.

“Almost there!”

Before long, Chen Fan spotted patches of fields on the roadside. However, as he looked at these fields, a sudden hesitation overcame him.

This wasn’t his original world.

With his upper body clad in a white short-sleeved shirt, black shorts on the lower half, and a pair of sneakers, he might be considered an outsider here.

Not to mention, he didn’t understand the language of this foreign world.

Chen Fan touched his short hair, contemplating, “This world has extraordinary beings; I better not casually interact with the people here.”

After his failed attempt to cultivate a unique technique in his original world, he learned through wishes that the only way for him to achieve immortality was to continuously wish for it. On a day ten years later, during the brief intersection between this world with humans and his original world, he would cross over.

His original world lacked supernatural powers due to certain rules, unlike this world.

“First, master the language here, then gradually assimilate into this world.”

Chen Fan made a decision.

He then walked towards a nearby field, along a small path, heading towards a not-so-distant valley.

“This looks good.”

Before long, Chen Fan found a white rock in the valley that provided wind shelter. He gathered some weeds, spread them behind the rock, and then sat down.

“There is no need to think about eating today.”

Chen Fan leaned against a massive rock, utterly exhausted. He watched as the sun in this foreign world slowly descended, sighing as he rubbed his stomach. After traveling for so long, he was both tired and hungry. But to fill his belly, he would have to wait until tomorrow.

With that thought, he closed his eyes and rested.

“So hungry!”

In the middle of the night, Chen Fan woke up from hunger.

At this moment, the starlight was brilliant.

He glanced at the shining stars in the night sky and made his second wish since arriving in this world:

“I wish to be able to absorb external energy for an extended period, alleviating hunger.”

In an instant, a subtle force gathered, and his hunger vanished.

A faint smile appeared on Chen Fan’s face as he turned over and went back to sleep.

“Comfortable.”

Early the next morning, Chen Fan woke up under the shining sun. He moved his body a bit and then started searching for stones and branches in the valley, preparing to build a shelter for himself.

“I wish my attire to be the same as the locals here.”

On the third day, Chen Fan made another wish.

With the wish granted, his clothes immediately transformed into a thin robe.

Even his short hair grew rapidly, turning into shoulder-length hair.

“I wish to quickly master the local language.”

On the fourth day, Chen Fan made a fresh wish.

With this wish, his mind was flooded with pronunciations, writings, and images of over three hundred words and various objects.

These things seemed to be engraved in his soul, never to be forgotten.

“With over three hundred words a day, I should be able to communicate seamlessly with the locals in just over a month.”

Chen Fan tugged at the robe he had wished for on the second day.

Now, in terms of clothing, he was indistinguishable from the ordinary people of this world.

However, he still didn’t leave the area.

“I wish…”

“I wish…”

“I wish for my identity to be verified.”

“I wish for my pockets to be filled with a lot of money.”

Days passed by.

Soon, over forty days had elapsed.

“I can go out now.”

After more than forty days of making wishes, Chen Fan finally left the valley. He followed the previous path, walking forward. Before long, a small village appeared before him.

“Brother, may I ask how far the nearest county is from here?”

Chen Fan spotted a young man dressed as a farmer in the village and immediately spoke with the most standard tone.

“You mean Baishi City? It’s not far. Keep going along this road, and you’ll get there by noon,” the young man assessed Chen Fan and replied.

“Thank you.”

Chen Fan thanked the man and continued walking. This time, as he traveled, he encountered many people. He even came across a carriage selling goods to the county. After paying a few copper coins, he boarded the carriage, heading towards the county.

“Brother Chen, did you come from White Stone City?”

On the carriage, a big man with thick eyebrows and big eyes, sitting on the edge, greeted Chen Fan with a hearty tone. He introduced himself as Mengshan and mentioned being a guard from the White Stone City Defense & Escort Agency.

“Yes, I came from there.”

Chen Fan smiled and nodded.

At this moment, his expression showed no signs of being different. No one could tell that he was a traveler from another world.

“Black Water City? Ah, When I used to escort goods, I once followed the head of the White Stone City Defense & Escort Agency to meet Guan Changsheng, the leader of the Whale Gang in Black Water City.

This person not only possesses innate divine power but also wields a giant whale knife that can unleash several meters of knife energy. He’s a rare postnatal realm martial artist in the vicinity. Have you, Brother Chen, heard of him?”

Mengshan praised.

“This… I was born in a small village near Black Water City, so I’m not very familiar with that.”

Chen Fan’s heart raced.

He didn’t expect to find extraordinary clues so soon after leaving the valley.

Martial artists?

Is this world a martial artist’s world?
