Chapter 232: Cure of Empress [1]
[Capital City, Krivos Kingdom]
[A day Later]
Akamir stretched his body as he remained seated in the office of Imoyan company branch.
Narcos was with him right now as he was briefing him on this month's sale.
"…Should I stop now, my Lord?" He asked, as he noticed the boredom of Akamir.
"No, keep going." Akamir replied, shaking his head in response. "I want to know how much our sales improved because of the war."
Narcos adjusted the stack of documents in his hands, his round glasses sliding slightly down the bridge of his nose.
His voice was steady, though he kept glancing up nervously at Akamir's figure lounging in the chair across from him.
"As expected, the war has created… opportunities."
He paused as he looked at the list once.
"Grain shipments have doubled in value, especially near the western borders. The Aure nobles are hoarding supplies, and Lythanis merchants are also forced to buy from us at inflated rates."
Akamir leaned back, fingers tapping against the armrest in a slow rhythm. "And the arms?"
Narcos hesitated, licking his lips before answering.
"…Our blacksmith contracts tripled this month. Spears, shields, even enchanted alloys are being sold…Imoyan has become the silent spine of every army."
He chuckled slightly. "They know it, but they cannot stop buying."
Akamir gave a quiet hum of approval, though his body language was still bored. "So, in short—our treasury is fattening, and the kings unknowingly make me stronger."
Narcos bowed slightly. "Yes, my Lord."
Silence stretched between them for a moment, broken only by the faint ticking of the ornate clock on the wall.
Outside the office window, the bustling streets of Krivos carried on as usual, merchants shouting, carriages clattering, and commoners weaving through the crowded markets.
Akamir finally spoke again, his tone low but sharp. "And what about the shipments?"
Narcos flinched at the weight of his voice. He lowered his gaze to the parchment.
"…The missing slaves from Aure have created a ripple, but suspicion has not fallen on us." He paused to let his answer settle.
"The disappearance is being blamed on bandits and Lythanis raiders. No one suspects that we gave them refuge under your command."
"Good." Akamir crossed one leg over the other, his presence filling the office like a quiet storm.
"Keep it that way. As long as Imoyan looks like a merchant house and not an empire, no one will notice the knife at their throat until it's too late."
At that moment, a knock echoed against the door.
Narcos glanced at Akamir, waiting for a signal.
"Let them in," Akamir said calmly.
The door opened, and a young woman in Imoyan colors stepped inside, bowing quickly.
"My Lord, a messenger has arrived from Aure. Urgent correspondence addressed directly to the owner."
Akamir's fingers stopped their tapping, his eyes narrowed at the mimicker. "…From Aure, you say?"
"Yes, my Lord. They request your presence in the capital." She replied. "…I think they are not here for a good reason."
Akamir nodded as he glanced at Narcos, the middle-aged man nodded as he stood up. "I will attend them in your stead."
"Make sure they don't get too comfortable." Akamir replied, looking at him. "I don't want them to think they own us."
Narcos bowed deeply towards him as he walked out of the room.
Nayomi, who was away from his vision, came back with a smile.
"Aren't you living a luxurious life?" She said, glaring at him. "From all the things that belong to me?"
"Belonged to." Akamir corrected her as he pushed her face away. "It is mine now."
She clicked her tongue as she looked at him. "When are you going to visit your spouse?" She asked. "The elf must be waiting for you."
Akamir didn't say anything as he stood up from his seat.
"…I was planning to see her soon." He mumbled as he let out a sigh.
Akamir sighed as he glanced to his side.
The air around his shoulder shifted as Saia appeared to his side.
"Are you liking the outside world?" He asked her with a smile.
Saia shyly nodded her head as she whispered. "It is filthy but I like it."
"It's not the world." Akamir replied, chuckling. "The humans are the ones who are filthy."
Saia didn't reply as she remained seated on his shoulder.
Yesterday she asked him to spend more time with her and Akamir was more than happy to do so.
He would have done the same for his baby void fox but sadly she wasn't around.
She either sleeps most of her time or is traveling to places that Akamir can't visit.
So, instead of restricting her Akamir made her roam freely.
'It's for the best.'
Akamir thought as he drew in a deep breath and summoned his crown.
'Alright, let's visit the empress now.'

[Sylvan Kingdom]
Since the elves have lost the World Tree they have lost a lot of other things as well.
To start it off, they have lost the illusion that was created by the World Tree to keep them safe from other races.
Now that it was gone, the elves were in a hypersensitive state.
None, and by it means no one other than elves, were allowed in the city right now.
Akamir was fully aware of it so he directly arrived in the main palace of elves.
He wasn't in the mood for talking with the elves and he didn't want to.
'It doesn't feel good to watch them burn my dolls in the streets.'
He after all was the masked demon who burned the World Tree along with Lewin.
Akamir quietly walked through the corridors of the elven palace, careful not to bump into soldiers.
Halfway through he glanced at Saia on his shoulder. "Can you call Lili for me?"
Saia nodded as she gently closed her eyes.
The fairies were quite the mysterious race.
'Or should I say it's just Saia who is powerful because she is the fairy queen.'
Either way, it didn't take long for Lili to come zapping towards them.
"Akamir!" She said, her voice filled with enthusiasm. "You are here!"
She then looked at Saia as she hugged the queen. "It's good to see you too!"
Saia wasn't a fan of physical contact but she didn't push her away.
"Where is Sephrina?" Akamir asked, looking at her.
"She is sleeping in her room." She replied, smiling back at him.
Akamir tilted his head. "At this hour?"
She shrugged. "Sephrina is going through a lot of tension nowadays." She replied with a sigh. "I just let her sleep late."
Akamir nodded as he walked towards her room.
He knew the place well enough not to get lost in his path.
Akamir quickly reached her room as he knocked on the door.
When she didn't reply, he opened the door and walked in.
He closed his eyes and opened his spirit eyes just in case.
Sephrina was sleeping fully covered with the blanket to not let sunlight disturb her.
Akamir walked closer as he called. "Sephrina, wake up."
She didn't reply, forcing him to grab the blanket.
But before he could yank it, Sephrina grabbed his hand and pulled him inside.
Akamir lost his balance and fell on top of her.
'Hmm?'
He couldn't help but squeeze tightly as he found something soft.
'Wait, isn't she flat—?'
Akamir froze, his gloved hand pressing into something that was decidedly not flat.
'What the hell?'
He couldn't understand why the stark difference since last time he saw her as she pulled him closer.
"What are you doing, pervert." She whispered in his ears.
Akamir 'looked' at her with his spirit eyes.
He quickly found that she was now changed.
Her body, which was previously genderless, was now much more feminine.
Her frame was no longer the flat, ageless shell he remembered.
Her figure curved, soft in ways it had never been.
A faint aura pulsed around her too—something older, heavier, as if the world itself had started reshaping her.
"…You've changed," Akamir muttered, his tone low and calm despite the situation.
Her lips curled faintly, though her voice was sharp.
"Noticed, did you? I thought the closed eyes would make you blind to it."
Akamir let out a sigh as he forced his way out of the bed. "Why are you wearing such revealing clothes?"
Was calling it clothes the right thing to do?
She was practically wearing only a net over her body.
"I sleep like this." She replied, slowly getting up from the bed. "I am sorry if you have a problem with it."
Akamir didn't reply as his mind was on those two giggling balls.
'…Why did she change so much no—, why did she change into exactly my type?'
Akamir was really having a hard time keeping his hand off of her.
"How is your kingdom going?" He asked, with a fake cough.
Sephrina groaned. "I don't like it." She replied. "They all are not listening to anything I say."
Akamir tilted his head. "Why?"
"Because they can't see me." She replied. "It's like a barrier is between us."
'Well, there really is.'
Akamir let out a sigh as he looked at her. "Sephrina."
"Yes, husband?"
He ignored her teasing. "I have a cure for your curse."
