Chapter 402: The 101st Page
Pablo had the details of Egoes of each soldier.
He had hundred soldiers under him in total and each one of them had written about their Egoes in one paper. But Pablo didn't have a hundred pages. He had one hundred and one pages.
Because other than the hundred soldiers, Gerald, Flashy's father, also submitted everything about his Ego to Pablo's room as well.
Pablo laid in his bed with the stack of papers in his hand and he had already assembled them in alphabetical order. Like the roll call done in schools.
He scanned one paper at a time and read it with utmost attention multiple times until he memorized all the details of the page.
Cupid didn't dare to disturb him as it would be a crime to disturb such a focused man.
Pablo took at least five minutes for each page and after he was finished with one, he would put the paper at the back of the stack.
Like that, he read and read and read.
He didn't pay that much time to Draxus', Flashy's, Hena's, Nike's, Gerald's and Sera's Ego as he already knew about them in detail.
Wait… Sera's Ego?
"The hell?"
Pablo frowned, staring at the paper on his hand.
He read it again and indeed, it had Sera's name and her Ego on it. Heck, it was also written that she had a guardian angel with her.
"How is this possible?" He muttered.
"What happened?" Cupid couldn't hold back from asking.
Pablo showed her the paper. "This is Sera. She also sent her Ego details to me."
Cupid saw it and knitted her brows. "But you weren't even sure to take her with you until now. So there's no way she should have known that she has to send her details. Wait—how did she even know that you asked for details? She wasn't on the ground when you shared this with the soldiers."
"Exactly."
Pablo put the papers down and thought for a while.
"She either sent Andre to the ground to hear what I am saying to the soldiers or…"
Pablo's eyes darkened.
"There is a mole among the soldiers."
Cupid's face went blank.
"... You do realise she only sent her Ego details on a paper, right? That is no reason to give off the atmosphere of death over that."
Pablo ignored the Angel and carried on his deduction.
"Andre won't leave Sera alone and especially not when no one is in the room. Even if she begged him, he wouldn't leave her in the den of soldiers or men who would pounce on any alone girl they see."
"Hmm. But if you tell everyone that Sera is with you, no one would dare to touch her."
"Keep your ideas to yourself." Pablo shook his head and reached a conclusion.
"So if Andre didn't do it, then my mole theory is right."
Cupid waved her hands in defeat as Pablo didn't even listen to her and had already taken out his Receiver.
He fiddled with it and stared at his contacts.
"Draxus wouldn't do it. Even if he did, he would have told me he did. So he isn't the mole."
Cupid raised her brows. "That's rich of you saying it when you were just suspicious of him a few minutes ago."
"I wasn't suspicious of him. I was just paranoid seeing his loyalty. No one could be that loyal."
"Well, he is. You have suffered too much that you question everything. You just couldn't think of yourself that you deserve love and trust. No one is more cruel to you than you yourself."
"Stop the therapy session. As if I need you to tell me who I am."
Cupid expected something like this so she didn't make a fuss and went silent.
Pablo carried on his filtering of his contacts.
"Draxus is clear and the next I could think of is Flashy but I am going to skip him. He is too stupid to be a mole. Even if Sera asked him to spill information to her, he would have called me instead of her by mistake."
Pablo carried on and like before, he cut off Hena and Gerald from the list as Sera would choose death over asking for help from Hena. It's already enough that she hadn't ordered Andrezj to kill the elf girl yet.
She would also not go to Gerald as she had nothing to do with her and she hadn't met with the old man yet either. And the same goes for all the soldiers of Pablo, Sera didn't know them that much.
Therefore, that only left one person.
"So it's that guy." Pablo finally found the prime suspect and without any wastage of time, he called the suspect right away.
And while calling, Pablo also recalled an instance that made him more sure of his claims.
"Hello?" The other side said as the call was picked up.
Pablo waited for nothing and…
"Come to my room, Nike."
"O-o..kay."
BEEP!
Pablo cut the call, stood up, opened the door, laid back on the bed and immersed himself on the Ego papers again.
After twenty seconds, a knock happened on his door.
"It's open." He said.
The door opened and a nervous young man looked inside.
Pablo kept reading the papers. "Sit down. Stay silent. I'll talk to you soon."
Nike nodded, closed the door and like a good slave, sat down on the floor.
He rested his palms on the knees and kept his head down.
Pablo glanced at him from the corner of his eyes and while doing that, he held a paper and muttered:
"Hmm? What is Sera's Ego doing here?"
Nike shivered.
That's all what Pablo wanted to see.
He acted reading like he was reading for the first time and he got the reaction he expected from Nike.
Putting the papers down, Pablo sat up-right and turned to Nike.
Nike didn't dare to raise his gaze at Pablo and that was the right decision. Because if he had looked at Pablo…
He would have slit his throat with his own hands.
