Criminal X : Epitome Of Evil

Chapter 388: They Don't Exist?

The King heard the chants of his name and he couldn't contain his surprise.

He was happy to hear people praising him and he was once again amazed at how Pablo predicted all this would happen.

The King darted his eyes at Pablo standing far from the crowd and Pablo also gazed at the King.

When their eyes met, Pablo gave a slight nod and the King nodded back.

"Everyone!" He shouted.

The people went silent.

"I welcome all of your praises for me with open arms but I would like your praise more when you see the results of the Gods yourself. That's why, you can stop shouting for me and go inside the temples to say your prayers yourself. I am taking my leave. Have a good day!"

The King waved his hands and started walking.

People cheered him along the way but no one followed the King.

All of them went closer to the temples and started exploring them.

The King and Boulder came in front of Pablo and the King was all smiles.

"It went just like you said, Pablo. The idea was a success."

Pablo nodded. "They will surely buy the books as well. Not only will it generate a good business, people would be more invested in Gods this way."

The King smiled wider and Flashy raised his hand.

Pablo would have refused him to speak, that's why Flashy didn't wait for any permission and spoke anyway.

"Did the Gods really come in your dream? What did they look like? And are you sure the wishes will be fulfilled in just two weeks?"

Pablo glanced at him. "Let me guess, you are asking this because you have some deranged wish you want to fulfill?"

"Wha—No. It's not deranged. I would have only asked for an elf girlfriend. I heard they are beautiful. They are my type."

"Draxus," Pablo said.

"As you say, czar."

"Wait. He didn't even say anything! Don't cover my mouth."

Pablo ignored the two of them and again focused on the King.

"Some people are already going inside the temples. Shall we see some behind the scenes? I hope they are ready too."

"They are. Let's go. Boulder, do it."

"Alright."

Boulder held the uniform of Pablo, Flashy and Draxus with his right hand and held the King in the left hand.

With no problems, he then bent his knees and took off in the air.

And in just two seconds, all of them were placed on the ground again.

Pablo looked around and figured they were inside a room.

Boulder was not with them as he was standing outside. But the big guy had jumped very high and fast which made it hard for Pablo to figure out where he had landed.

Draxus and Flashy were also there and Draxus had let Flashy go.

Flashy would have fought with Draxus but he was also surprised by the room or a house he was in right now.

The King saw the confused faces of everyone, that's why he explained it himself.

"You told me to find a secret place to run this God's business, Pablo. And this is the place."

Pablo frowned. "This is just a hut with no windows, and it is probably in a slum and I can't see the set up I told you to prepare."

The King smiled. "Don't be impatient. I will tell you everything."

Pablo shrugged.

Draxus and Flashy also perked up their ears.

The King carried on with the same smile.

"This hut is placed at the end, at the border of the Desper slum. No one lives in this part of the slum. That's why this is the best place for our system to be in place. And this hut has enough space for ten people to stay."

"Yes. The space is good enough. But I still can't see anything here, apart from the tiled floor and ten chairs. Where is the main thing?"

The King shook his head. "Fine. I will show you the main thing."

The old man placed his leg on the center tile of the floor and then lightly tapped on it two times.

After a steady silence and foul smell of the slum, something happened.

From the walls of the hut made out of stone, small screens came out, showing the temples and people going inside it.

After the screens, speakers came out and they began playing what the people were saying on the ear of the statues of the Gods.

And hearing them, Flashy and Draxus jerked their heads at Pablo.

"Boss.. did you.."

"Czar, is this plan all yours?"

Pablo smiled. "Yes. These Ten Gods are real but the wishes of the people will be fulfilled by this King here. The people will think God is hearing their wishes but in reality, the King is hearing them. There is a small device in each temple that records the people, and there is a device inside the statues that records the wishes of the people when they say it. If the wishes are doable, then the King would fulfill it in two weeks. The guards standing outside the temples would tell the people that they should state their name and address at the ear of the statue before saying their wish. This way, the King would know everything and would find it easy to fulfill the wishes of his subjects."

Flashy's eyes widened.

Draxus was taken aback as well.

"So just to fulfill the wishes of people, you made the King construct Temples of Gods? Ten of them at that?"

"No. The Gods were necessary. People should pray to Gods. They should believe in them. And they will only believe in them when they see results, no one believes in their own parents without getting anything in this world, Gods are a far cry. That's why I asked the King to make such a system so that people find their trust in Gods again."

"That's good and all, Czar. But all of a sudden you want people to believe in Gods? Heck, you don't believe in them yourself from what I have seen."

Draxus posed a fair point and everyone stared at Pablo.

To which, Pablo smiled.

"I don't believe in Gods, that's true. But just because I don't believe in them, it doesn't mean…"

Pablo patted Draxus' soldier.

"They don't exist."
