Creation Online

Molliwag - Edited

This was a plot hole, a huge one. It had to be. The devs had made it clear that the Creators could only create the administrators first before any other race. Only five of them for that matter.

Hilde frowned while contemplating carefully'. 'I made Zeus before I made the other four. But that's because the Divine Beast slot opened after I made Haero. Right? '.

Thinking of it now Hildelith realized that neither she nor the other Creator players had checked if there were any open slots apart from the administrators.

'That's what those devs were hiding. By throwing us in blind we could only follow the procedures given. Sure we could ask and find things out ourselves, but we didn't even know exactly what to seek. Fucking bastards'.

This meant that she truly had created Molliwag, or the devs had with the coldness of her Divine energy. She was sure it was the same for all the creators. The question now was why. and what was the endgame? Hildelith didn't act rashly. The devs had been thorough about everything to this point.

There had to be a deeper meaning and something hidden.

'Why make Molliwag and make me face him? To slay the proverbial dragon'. No, that seemed too cliche. The devs had long strayed from the cliche game lines. She was sure if everything shown till now was to be put into account.

'Befriend the dragon and form a bond?'

'What, become a dragon rider?' she pondered. It felt too confusing and also fickle. Like something not normal yet normal.

'Still feels cliche' she admitted to herself.

What was she meant to do with Molliwag? Still unsure she decided to appraise him again.

"Yeah. Very conveniently locked eh? Would be impossible to beat that anyway." I grumbled.

Another way around this. What was another way around this? As I considered various options I realized that the other Unknown had halted a fair distance from both I and Molliwag. Either too scared to be near him or obeying some order he gave.

My eyes traveled from their poised forms to his relaxed self and nodded. 'Definitely his order'. But that didn't solve my issue.

How did the devs intend for this quest to be passed? Scourge turned out to be an enlightenment with an insight. She didn't understand what insight was but it wasn't the issue for now. Her problem was why gift an insight for finding her renegade group of children whom she could either choose to kill or forgive.

"Wait. Choose" she muttered.

Seeing a link she pulled up the quest info for the judgment once more her eyes reading its words again and again.

"Is the choice to forgive or punish truly mine?" she asked herself in the last line. Eyebrows furrowed.

Her mind recapped the story from the beginning, up till the scourge and its words then finally to now.

'Created and somehow ended up here. The devs doing but he doesn't know that. All he knows is being abandoned' I reasoned. He'd have a solid reason to hate me. I probably would have an issue with my parents if they didn't have a good reason and even then, I would still feel bad.

"The choice, is not mine is it?". I hissed'. Regardless of my lack of fault in this ' I had to play along with the devs' story. Looking up to Molliwag I dismissed the Sword of Murre into my inventory and took a step forward.

As I approached a click sounded in my head as a bolt of energy rushed from there down to my chest. Like a signal a pulse of undulated divinity spread in all directions of my body.

My blue eyes took on a bright golden glow while my wounds instantly sealed up. I felt the fatigue in me settle while my body released a soft gentle aura that radiated a sense of peace and calm. I had done this with something, not Nothingness.

"I know your rage Molliwag. " I exhaled as I racked my mind for words leaving my curiosity at the new power for later.

"I don't dare say I understand what it feels to be abandoned. What you feel. It must be hate. For me. I understand that. I wish to use no excuses...".

'...as much as I have a dozen to say'. Of course, she only said the last part mentally.

"Your wrath. Your pain. It's all justified. "her arms went up in a pleading gesture.

I gulped as the dragon barely blinked simply staring with the same apathetic expression as it had since I came.

"I just need you to grant me one wish."

Molliwag flared finally, his eyes blazed brighter oozing even more ambient energy in green smoky waves.

'Well, that sparked him'.

"You dare ask me a favor. As expected always thinking of yourself...". He roared his feet shifting as he moved. "... Mother" he sneered the last word quite provocatively like I didn't deserve to be one. I'd have him know I cared deeply for my in-game children.

"Not for me. For this world, for them," I waved to the Unknown. "And for you" I added the last part. He stilled for just a moment before he scoffed a plume of green smoke exhaled from his nostrils.

"Tricks "he roared out further enraged by my use of the Unknown to get to him. His form rose as his words thundered. " Lies, to deceive me. Lure me into a calm before the slaughter." He snarled like a beast as he crouched down his head brought low enough to look me directly in the eye.

Damn was he huge.

"You fail!!. Mother ".

[QUEST UPDATE]

Negotiations with the FirstBorn have failed. Molliwag may or may not wish to heed you " mother". Maybe a clear mind would help.

You have thirty minutes to right what has been wronged.

[RANK - S]

[Rewards - Unascertained]

[Failure - PERMANENT DEATH]

'Don't think the words permanent death hid that jab you just dished system.' I frowned.

Molliwag reared up like the beast he was, his head tilted to the skies that didn't exist his gleaming six eyes visible from her spot as his jaws parted. From within him poured out his rage, his anger. and his pain all combined into one terrifying, core shaking, and heart-pumping roar.

Then with a glint of all the fangs that littered his savage jaws, he glanced down at me. I swear he smiled. He god damn freaking smiled at me.

I couldn't help but widen my eyes, then narrow them back.

It was so on.

THIRD PERSON POV

Boom.

Boom.

Now Hildelith could officially say she understood and felt the terror of the soldiers at war fronts. Partially. It was a suffocating pressure, a terrible feeling of fear, the panic of not knowing the wrong or right turn to make.

Fear that fortunately kept getting negated by the Crown of the Supreme. Hildelith wasn't very athletic but she loved keeping fit to waste away the hours and to strengthen herself.

Right now though she realized what it truly meant to evade and run. Run while avoiding and dodging the countless attacks of Unknowns she could not slaughter. Run while sliding out the path of Molliwag's breath of green smoldering fire, constructs of chaos raining down upon her.

Her armor and dress were dirtied, her skin looking bruised from all the explosions, the green flames burning around her which didn't singe her skin, and the little cuts that the Unknown managed to carve unto her fair arms.

Molliwag was refusing to see reason and by all the gods Hilde was adamant about making him see lots of reasons either calmly or not. The how to get it done though was the issue. Her caution for its flame had long gone due to the prompt she got after the first wave of fire.

[Enemy Abstract insufficient]

[Flame effect negated]

The flames tickled but did no damage due to Molliwag's lesser Abstract. While huge he was still only a godling babe. Which meant the only way for it to kill her was by physical attacks. Maybe. But while she suspected surviving a claw attack as possible she didn't want to risk entering his maws.

Hilde slipped around a boulder coming up to the side where she slapped yet another Infant Unknown to the side. Her eyes glared with annoyance at Molliwag as she breathed deeply.

Many things made sense now.

The Unknown weren't difficult to beat. Infact thinking about it now clearing the scourge was more of an impossibility in the entire quest chain. Getting to Molliwag made Hilde realize how above the Creator Players were.

The Void wolves maybe could match them but anything within their universe would be weaker no matter the Level difference. It was like they were in a different tier.

This quest was only ongoing now because she couldn't or shouldn't harm the goddamn creatures, but apparently, they could harm her. It was an annoyance.

Now she was running around like a footless chicken desperately trying to figure out the rest of the quest. She was calmer as she had already deduced that each quest chain provided insight into clearing the next.
