Corpse Recovery Diver

Chapter 168

Yin Meng sat on the second floor railing, holding a pack of preserved plums, she was keeping watch.

From time to time, she would lower her head to look at the young man sitting by the campfire below, who was deep in thought.

Every time Li Zhiyuan reached out for a piece of wood to toss into the campfire, Yin Meng would also pop a piece of preserved plum into her mouth.

With the wood crackling in the fire, she would savor the preserved plum with a smacking of her lips.

Everyone else was asleep.

The firelight shone on the young man's face, alternating between light and shadow.

Xue Liangliang wrapped in a blanket, came over and sat down next to Li Zhiyuan.

"Brother Liangliang, you should go to sleep."

"Even if I slept well, I wouldn't be of much help. I'd rather sit with you for a while."

Li Zhiyuan nodded.

"Xiao Yuan, are you worried about the current situation?"

"Not really."

Li Zhiyuan stood up, took the kettle hanging above the campfire, and filled two large bowls in front of him with red sugar ginger tea.

Then, the two, one big and one small, each held their bowls, blew on them, and sipped.

In the winter mountains, drinking this makes one feel very comfortable.

Xue Liangliang looked at Yin Meng upstairs, then turned back to look at Run Sheng, Tan Wenbin, and Lin Shuyou who were sleeping soundly side by side inside the house.

"Normally, you don't notice much, but once you come out, the feeling you give off is completely different."

"After going through many things, one will inevitably become more mature." Li Zhiyuan looked at the cigarette that Xue Liangliang pulled out, "Brother Liangliang, isn't it the same for you?"

"Yes, that's right, but far less than you guys." Xue Liangliang biting the cigarette, lowered his head, lit it, and as he blew out a smoke ring, his eyes also showed contemplation, "In such encounters, I find I'm really of no help."

"Your bringing us here has already been a great help."

"Isn't that a sarcastic remark?"

"No, it's sincere."

In the past, Li Zhiyuan would choose test questions from Alii's dreams, but he played too hard last time, scaring off those things that couldn't even show themselves.

This time's test question was "helped" by Xue Liangliang in choosing.

A different form, but Li Zhiyuan believed, he would ultimately gain, though it wasn't clear where this gain would appear.

Li Zhiyuan stayed up so late because he was trying to clear as much of the fog over the chessboard as possible.

Then, he gradually found the significance of doing this wasn't great.

Because very likely, the entire chessboard belongs to the Old Transgender, this is her home ground.

She's different from any evil he's faced before.

Firstly, she's free.

Secondly, she has a brain.

Finally, her condition is relatively stable.

Not sealed, not heavily injured, not just recovering, she has been active in this area for many years.

Strictly speaking, she is the first truly independent individual among all opponents he has encountered.

Her gaze covers the Miao village, the construction site, the current village...and the surrounding areas.

Xue Liangliang finished his cigarette and threw it into the campfire, then took out a blueprint from his chest and spread it on the ground.

"Xiao Yuan, I don't understand Feng Shui, nor can I make sense of the small flags you had people place, I can only look more at these blueprints."

"Hmm?"

"Any construction of water facilities will impact the existing landscape environment, and the repercussions can be quite broad, not just restricted to the immediate construction area."

"Brother Liangliang, do go on."

"You see, this river may not be wide, and its water flow not large, but it's indeed a main stream among many small water systems in the surrounding area, and once this hydropower station is completed, the biggest impact will be here..."

Xue Liangliang took out a pen and drew a circle at a location.

"There's a lake here, we saw it when we took the tractor into the village, it's quite scenic. When the hydropower station is completed, this lake will lose its source of fresh water, it should gradually disappear."

Li Zhiyuan's gaze fixed on this lake, he asked, "Brother Liangliang, how did you come to focus on this?"

"Because your mind is sharp, if it's obvious to me, you've certainly noticed it too, so I can only try to ponder some little corners you might not consider."

Li Zhiyuan's finger gently rubbed on the blueprint, he closed his eyes.

Memories in his mind were recalled, going back to the scene of Ran Dacheng driving the tractor on the bumpy mountain road.

The memory scenes quickly rewinded, eventually turning to the time when that lake appeared.

A voice of Tan Wenbin then appeared beside his ear:

"Damn, heard of geographical discrimination, first time realizing there's also terrain discrimination!"

Back then, sitting on the tractor, his gaze just happened to show that lake, its surface not big, just larger than a pool.

Memories kept fast forwarding and rewinding, capturing his perspective from various angles, and finally piecing together as completely as possible the lake and its surrounding terrain.

Then, Li Zhiyuan began attempting to analyze its topographical Feng Shui.

The result was...mundane.

Li Zhiyuan opened his eyes, it figures, if there was indeed any special Feng Shui setup, he would have felt it when passing by.

Xue Liangliang lit a second cigarette, he didn't notice Li Zhiyuan's expression and actions, but continued talking about his analysis:

"In fact, although the project isn't finished, the effects of cutting off water flow have appeared, and this lake's water level should be significantly lower than during normal times in past years."
