Chapter 35: A Legendary Weapon
"I didn't realize you were this good. Alright, let's make this a little more interesting. Show me what you've got."
Kante said with a smile as the whip slowly curled up, the end still held tightly in his hand as the whip started taking a new shape. Uche watched with an intense gaze, not willing to attack until he saw the new shape the whip was taking.
A split second later, the whip disappeared completely and, standing firmly in Kante's hand now, was a pair of sleek, brown long-swords. Uche, not knowing how the whip had turned to a pair of swords, immediately charged forward, swinging his chain-whip as hard as he could.
Kante raised his sword in response with a smile, easily slicing through the tip of the whip as if it was a butter, then he thrust the second sword into Uche's stomach, who reacted quickly by taking a couple steps back and withdrawing the whip.
Kante gave him no chance to rest as he charged forward again, his movement fluid and flawless as he danced gracefully like a seasoned swordsman. Uche reacted by swinging his whip violently, trying to stop Snowflake in his tracks.
But the seasoned killer was too great with swords, as he easily cut the chain with his sword with no resistance. Little by little, the length of the chain-whip was shrinking, and Uche, knowing he would have no weapon if the whip was completely destroyed, immediately withdrew it and charged towards him in an instant, his fist directed at Kante's face.
The cunning killer jerked his head back a little, making the blow miss him by mere inches, then he drew his sword upward in a diagonal motion, slashing Uche's chest as blood poured out. He then moved swiftly behind him and used his other sword to slash him from behind before sending him flying with a kick.
Uche crashed into the operating table and other equipment in the lab; he tried to get up immediately but his movements were sluggish as he staggered back, crashing into another set of equipment.
Kante laughed loudly from his angle but didn't attack immediately.
For some reason, Uche seemed to feel more pain than he had ever felt before; the pain inflicted by the sword seemed sharper and more dangerous than anything he had experienced.
He managed to get up and stared at Kante, who had a smug look on his face.
"C'mon, don't tell me that's all you've got, I know you're better than this. Bring it on."
Kante said as he charged forward again, his sword coming down at Uche's head. Uche didn't react immediately, staying in place as Kante got close to him; then he moved away at the last second, dove away, swiftly moved behind him and threw out his fist that had, surprisingly, been wrapped with the chain, protecting his hand like a gauntlet.
He aimed at Kante's head from the back, but the bastard was just too good and too cunning. He reacted almost immediately as he turned around with his sword making a ninety-degree turn; the sword clashed with his fist, easily cutting through the chain before piercing his own hand slightly.
Uche moved back immediately, stunned as he couldn't believe how the sword had done that; he was brought back to reality with a kick that landed right on his chest, sending him skidding back.
"Arghh."
Uche groaned, holding his stomach as he slowly got up.
Just as he rose to his feet, he noticed something that he hadn't paid much attention to before—something that made his heart skip a beat as he noticed it.
He looked at his bleeding fist before glancing down at his chest, which was surprisingly still bleeding.
Uche had a confused look on his face as his gaze moved steadily between his fist, his chest and Kante.
'Why is my body not healing?'
He thought; he hadn't noticed it before, or rather, hadn't paid much attention to it, but now, not seeing the familiar bloody tendrils crawling out of his body to knit it back together, his heart skipped. Both his chest and fist were still bleeding profusely.
He stared at the sword in Kante's hand with a distant expression.
'It must have been the sword.'
At first, he was surprised that the whip was able to transform into a sword, then it was able to cut the chain so easily, and now the sword could also stop his healing.
'How?'
Kante, meanwhile, had a smug look on his face as if enjoying the troubled expression on Uche's face; he spoke.
"You remember how I told you earlier that my grandfather wiped out his own family, and how he passed his legacy down to my father. Well, this is the legendary weapon he used to cut down every member of his family with a single strike. And he passed down this weapon to my father with his own legacy.
But do you know what, this weapon was inflicted with our bloodline curse, making it as sharp as heaven itself, and able to cut through the earth. Nothing in this world can resist its power—the curse of short lifespan. And that includes you."
Kante said, charging forward immediately.
"I'll make sure to cut down every part of your body, and make you die slowly."
Kante shouted, swinging his sword upward, aiming to make another cut to Uche's stomach, but before he could get close to him, something pierced the door of the lab and streaked through the air, aiming straight for Kante's head. He quickly dove away at the last second, rolling straight under the operating table.
And several more pierced the door, making everyone in the lab take cover.
