CONNECT: Rise Of The Undead King

Chapter 32: My Reflection

It took Mira a while to realize that something was wrong, she had been staying at the zenith of a building which was a couple miles away from the street Uche was to meet Snowflake, and she could clearly see everywhere in full detail including the meeting point.

She had remained on that building for about an hour now, but she hasn't seen any sign of Uche nor anyone she could describe as Snowflake. She had even looked around the street trying to find any sign of them but she found nothing. Another problem was that she couldn't see past the street from the point she was hiding, she decided to get down and search every corner of the district.

It took her another hour to search each corner of the district, before stumbling upon the alleyway Uche was to pass through.

With her great eyesight, Mira could see through the dark alleyway as clear as day. And that's how she spotted something on the floor.

She slowly walked towards it and bent down picking the object up.

"This is the glasses Uche was wearing."

She muttered as she picked it up. Then looking around, she spotted his cap lying a few meters ahead.

Uche had been kidnapped.

"Damn, I should've known that bastard might ambush him."

Wasting no time, a soft sound was heard before her incredible bike appeared in front of her, then she brought out a floating screen on the bike, made a few taps before a blinking red dot could be seen.

"He's gone far."

Mira muttered before getting onto the bike.

---

In a small but well-lit and sterile laboratory, several equipment gathered around all ready to get to work at any second now, the state-of-the-art table had been prepared, a medical tray stood on a table next to it with several equipment happily scattered on it.

Three people could be seen in the lab, there was a young man with red spiky hair and well-chiseled face, standing beside the state-of-the-art table with a smug expression on his face, he was dressed black, just like the young man that could be seen in front of him, unconscious and strapped on a metal chair in front of the state-of-the-art table.

He didn't look beaten, only unconscious, but his left eye seemed to have been removed long ago, as only an empty socket could be seen. The third person in the lab was a very old man in lab coat and glove, a pair of old glasses hung on his face, the old man didn't look well at all, he looked beaten and battered, his eyes hollow, his lips dried and severely cut, and a large chunk of hair had been fished out of his head.

In short, the old man looked like a dead man walking.

But still, he stood firmly in front of a white curtain that covered the whole area behind him, his eyes were focused on the state-of-the-art table and the equipment beside it.

A few minutes later, slowly, the young man strapped to the chair started opening his eyes, his vision covered in white blinding light before he could see clearly.

Disoriented, his gaze landed on the young man that stood in front of him, and with rage, he shouted while trying to get up.

"Snowflake, you bastard! I'll kill you."

Uche shouted, his blood boiling as he shook his body violently, trying to break himself off.

"Well you said that twice already."

Kante said with a smile.

The old man standing in front of the curtain suddenly fell down, but stood up immediately after seeing the look the two young men gave him, he quickly got up.

'Snowflake? He's really Snowflake? I'm doomed.'

'What have I done?'

The old man thought.

"And you..."

Uche said, his gaze directed at the old man, he recognized him very well, he was the surgeon who had operated on him back in the organ traffickers' base. Now seeing him with Snowflake, he wanted to say something, but after seeing the man's condition he knew something was wrong.

He moved his attention back to Snowflake.

"Tell me, why do you want to meet me, because it doesn't look like you're willing to return my eye."

Uche asked, a little bit dumb question.

Kante leaned against the state-of-the-art table, folded his arms and sighed.

"You're such a disobedient fellow, I told you to come to the meeting point alone, but you went along to bring that your little girlfriend."

Kante said with a smug on his face.

"Shut up, she only gave me a ride to the district, she never followed me."

Uche barked back, clearly frustrated.

"It would've been better if you came alone, everything would've gone accordingly, but now, I'm afraid you can't get your eye back, in fact, you're losing everything right here and now."

Kante said, his expression turning cold, making the old man shiver.

"Snowflake!!!"

Uche growled, his veins bulging and he used all his strength and slowly, the chain that was used to strap him down started loosening, snapping slowly, while he was also getting injured in the process.

Kante smiled, clapping his hands together as he slowly moved back.

"Well I know that alone cannot restrain you, but I have prepared something big enough that would keep you here."

Kante said as he moved to the curtain behind the old man, then he slowly brought the curtain down, revealing an old woman and a man, both beaten and battered, strapped to the same kind of chair Uche was strapped to.

"Uche."

The old man shouted, his voice shaky and barely audible.

Immediately the words got to Uche, he suddenly lost his strength and as he turned his head around, he grew weak immediately, not moving his arm again.

"Mr. Kim, Madam, how? What are you doing here."

Uche said, his eyes building up with tears, but he held himself back.

Kante clapped again as he moved towards Uche.

"I'm sure you wouldn't want them dead."

He said as Uche turned to him, staring into his eyes.

"Tell me what you want with me, Snowflake."

Uche said, his voice carrying a hint of urgency and threat.

Kante didn't reply immediately as he suddenly turned around, moving his gaze away from Uche.

'What's that?'

Kante thought as he felt something in his left eye immediately their gaze met, almost as if his eye was being pulled out by some strange force. Uche also felt something crawling within the depth of his eye socket, but didn't give any reaction as he already knew what it was.

'Got you, bastard.'

Uche thought.

Kante turned back around, acting as if nothing happened, but now, he made sure to avoid eye contact with him.

"Originally, I was going to invite you to a dinner after our meeting, but you messed it up."

Kante said, leaning against the table and continued.

"You know, you and I are the same person but slightly different, and I have the urge to work with you, to become my partner and work together. Anytime I look at you, I always feel like I'm looking at myself, as if you're a part of me living in someone else's body."

He paused for a while.

"Look at it this way, you're a music enthusiast, I'm an art enthusiast, you love making music, I love making artworks, drawing and crafting, you're hiding from the world because of who you are and I'm doing the same because of who I am.

The world is looking for you and same thing goes for me, the cops are on your back and they never left my own back too."

"Don't you think we have several things in common? Now, imagine you and I working together, just think about it."

Kante said, pacing around Uche who slowly shook his head in disagreement.

"No, we are not the same, we are different."
