Coin’s Edge: Reincarnated as a Extra

Chapter 69: Winner

"Why don't you dodge all my attacks like before?" Berry asked in a mocking voice.

Tap.

Tap.

Blink.

Footsteps continued to echo, but they weren't steady—they ragged.

The reason was her speed had increased to a point where she was almost impossible to catch.

Her figure blinked repeatedly through the air, followed by a flare of light that pierced Hector's body.

Of course, all her attacks barely killed him; they only cut through Hector's skin and muscle.

It was a shallow wound, yet blood gradually seeped out as if it were something terrible.

"Take it!"

Suddenly, a shout from behind made Hector shiver. He quickly flipped his sword upside down to guard against the unseen strike.

Clang!

Yet, it wasn't over. Another slash swiftly came from a different direction.

"Urgh…"

Berry teleported again and reappeared in front of Hector, about five meters away.

The sound of her feet tapping the ground echoed as she slowly turned to face Hector, who had just endured countless cuts across his body.

Her expression twisted when she saw the state he was in.

"That is power!" Berry grinned, pointing to her sword, now soaked with the scent of Hector's blood.

Her personality had started to distort compared to before, clearly a side effect of the power she'd received from Haley.

However, compared to what she had gained, the side effects seemed insignificant.

"This power will bite you back… It's nothing but a curse." From afar, out of Berry's sight, Hector spoke with a shaky breath.

Berry barely registered Hector's words. She just smiled quietly and said:

"How selfish!"

A streak of jealousy flickered across her face.

"So that's the thing you've been hiding all this time!"

Silence.

She clenched her lips lightly in anger and muttered:

"I'm gonna cut off all your limbs."

Thud!

A surge of crimson mana gradually enveloped her again—but this time, it was different.

Yes, it was another layer of mana, reinforced stronger and stronger.

She slowly slid her sword into its sheath, but as soon as she did—

Flick!

"Just a copper coin."

She ignored the coin flying toward her at high speed.

To her, it wasn't enough to cause even the slightest wound… even if she didn't dodge. But she didn't have to. She was strong enough to avoid it with ease.

She simply shifted her steps, letting the coin fly past without disturbing her stance.

If she broke her stance, she wouldn't be able to execute her CLAN technique.

She merely glanced at the copper coin as it whizzed past her face before she began drawing her sword, preparing to activate her dimensional slash.

However, at that moment, her expression twisted as she saw Hector smiling.

"Smile? What for?"

And the answer came right after.

BOOM!

A blast of gray smoke suddenly erupted, swallowing everything in sight.

It spread into every corner of the battlefield.

"That's just a cheap trick!" Berry grimaced tightly as she scanned her surroundings.

Smoke—nothing but smoke.

It completely blocked her vision.

The simplicity of the trick only fueled her anger.

"Why are you using it just now?" Berry steadied her thoughts after a few moments of corruption stirring inside her mind.

After all, this was the first time she had used this power—she had only obtained it a few days ago.

"I've got nothing left to mess around with you anymore!"

She twisted her sword horizontally, channeling all her mana into the blade. Then, she spun herself in a full circle.

Immediately, fierce winds surged outward, sweeping across the entire battlefield. Of course, it would take a little time to clear away all the gray smoke.

So, she focused her senses for any trace of Hector. The moment she caught sight of him, she would unleash her dimensional slash.

"Your fate will be sealed after that."

However, a shiver ran across her skin as a numbing sensation crept up from beneath the ground.

Creak!

Creak!

She turned her attention downward, eyes narrowing sharply.

"Thundering? Why?"

But time gave her no chance to think. More and more streaks of lightning gathered around her—forming a cage with no escape.

"N-No!"

Her expression instantly shifted to fear and panic.

But it was already too late.

She should have run. She should have escaped from Hector's reach. But in this state, it seemed impossible.

She had no idea what kind of skill he was using. Not through this thick gray smoke.

Still, she tried to move—pushing her speed to its limits, even if it was too late—because she knew any chance, however small, could mean survival.

Time seemed to freeze for her as each of her steps triggered bolts of lightning bursting from the ground, bathing her in deadly white light.

BOOOM!

The blast was so loud that even groups of common and privileged prisoners stopped what they were doing to look.

They saw a column of thunder rise and vanish in an instant... and the remnants of scorched lightning left behind at the center.

The wind Berry had created, and the shockwave from Hector's thunderclap, collided—blowing away the last of the gray smoke.

But even now, a faint cloud lingered in that spot.

It wasn't ordinary smoke.

It was what remained of Berry.

Most of her body had been scorched. Even her hair had turned to ash, and large portions of her outfit had been burned away.

At this point, no one could call her seductive anymore. She had lost nearly all her clothing, but it was meaningless—because almost all her skin was charred, revealing bloodied muscle beneath.

"I-Impossible…"

Her voice came low and heavy, crackling from the few strands of lightning still clinging to her throat.

She collapsed to the ground, but her eyes remained wide open. She refused to let unconsciousness claim her.

Overwhelming pain surged through every inch of her flesh, yet she forced herself up—shaking—and fell into a broken fighting stance.

As time passed, her skin began to regenerate, aided by the rhythm's corruption, yet nothing could heal the damage to her mind.

She was on the edge of losing consciousness.

Her vision blurred. Her steps faltered. And she muttered through pain and tension:

"I-I gotta…"
