Coin’s Edge: Reincarnated as a Extra

Chapter 67: We’re going to escape

"Have you finished making the plan?" Berry asked quietly, raising her eyebrows.

For some reason, she had barely taken any action with Hector's group, as if she were certain that none of them could escape, no matter what they attempted.

"I guess so, though," Hector said in a cautious voice, watching Berry's every move. Then, he gestured for the rest of his team to move away.

Berry just shook her head, ignoring what was left of Hector's companions, and asked in an even tone:

"You believe they'll get out of here?"

Hector's expression didn't change at her question. He simply sighed lightly. Just as Tyrone's squad succeeded in fleeing, he replied:

"Yep, I trust them!" Hector nodded firmly.

"Because if I don't trust them, what else can I believe in? If they fail, I'll die, anyway." He gave a slight shrug.

He didn't give Berry a chance to speak—he went on:

"Before this fight began… may I ask you a few things?"

There was something he needed to settle before the confrontation truly started.

"Huh?" Berry narrowed her eyes for a moment, then gave a small nod.

She was expecting something unusual from Hector. After all, he couldn't do anything anymore.

Everything had already begun to collapse.

And, just as she expected, he promptly smiled in amusement afterward.

"Are you one of Haley's subordinates?"

Then, she froze for a few seconds before vanishing.

Berry brushed a trace of dust off her sleeve, not looking at Hector, but still asked in a tone that didn't hide her surprise:

"What makes you think that?"

Immediately, Hector's face twisted into a grimace as he caught the expression—and emotions—on Berry's face.

"Tsk. So it's true!"

Hector ground his teeth, deep anger and unease stirring in his chest. He couldn't believe Haley had orchestrated so many twisted things.

Haley was a truly dangerous bastard—someone he should've stayed far away from from the start.

Fortunately, Hector had already picked up on several clues during his time in this so-called privileged prison.

He exhaled slowly and closed his eyes for a moment before reopening them, speaking in a flat tone.

"Not much. I just noticed a few subtle details from your earlier behavior."

"For instance: you always watch the prisoners like you're studying them. You even asked questions about our symptoms... You've been investigating someone."

He understood that clearly—he was a doctor, after all. He'd done the same thing countless times in the past.

He added:

"And more importantly, you don't use any corruption mana. At first, I thought maybe you were just that powerful… but I discarded that idea the moment I spotted one particular detail about you."

Berry slowly furrowed her brows at Hector's words. She hadn't anticipated this. She couldn't afford to let so many subtle signs slip out.

This was a threat—clear and undeniable.

She had let her guard down in front of these miserable inmates… and now it was coming back to bite her.

Controlling her breathing, she asked coldly, almost like issuing a command:

"When did you see it?"

A small smile tugged at Hector's lips, as if he'd just uncovered something entertaining.

Truth be told, he hadn't been sure if Berry was really one of Haley's agents. Her actions earlier had merely raised his suspicions.

And whether she possessed corruption mana or not—he barely had a clue.

He had simply taken a shot in the dark.

And luck had sided with him. His artifact was still functioning.

He would take full advantage of Berry's rising fury.

Hector simply shrugged and replied in a calm voice:

"Who knows? Huh"

He added with a playful voice.

"But honestly, I had no idea. I just said something random… and you gave me the answer yourself."

Suddenly, the air around them grew colder and darker as Hector delivered that provoking line.

"I'LL TEAR YOU TO PIECES!"

The atmosphere turned suffocating after her outburst. Hector had truly struck a nerve.

Her face twisted in rage, every feature pulled taut with fury.

She was ready to kill him without hesitation.

Of course, that meant Hector's plan had succeeded.

He dropped into his fighting stance, eyes sharply focused on Berry. Mana surged around him, warping the air, pressing down with crushing gravity.

If any ordinary prisoner had been standing there, they would have collapsed instantly under that pressure.

And then, Hector delivered the final words to push her into complete rage and madness:

"Well, my lady… even if you're my type, I don't like that kind of bitch."

Instantly, Berry surged forward, her mana bursting out as she lunged at Hector, ready to cut out his filthy tongue.

"My body belongs only to my master. I am no one's bitch."

"Run! Just go!" Tyrone yelled inwardly. Even if he wanted to shout it out loud, he couldn't risk doing something that reckless. Instead, he scanned the area, looking for any sign of privileged prisoners or jailers, trying to silence the fear and panic screaming inside his head.

It seemed—for now—that things were going smoothly, without any serious complications.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Footsteps echoed through the cold, silent halls, followed by the sound of ragged breathing from the common prisoners. No one dared to make a sound anymore. All their thoughts were focused on one thing—escape from this damned prison.

Ten minutes passed in growing terror.

Finally, they reached a place that looked like safety.

An exit.

It was the spot they had worked so hard to dig out, deep underground. They had spent nearly a year on it.

Normally, a jailer would be posted nearby. But ever since they'd broken out of their individual cells, the jailers had seemingly vanished.

Tyrone had planned to pull Hector—the strongest among them—to deal with any jailer stationed here… but things hadn't gone as he expected.

This cursed incident had ruined all his calculations.

"Great! We're going to escape!" one of the group gasped, running as fast as he could.

Others started murmuring, hope rising in their chests as the exit came into view.
